After some initial difficulties finding the place (you really need to keep your eye out for the plaque on the wall with the doorbell on), we found it to be a really nice little hotel. We had the room with the private terrace, which would...More
Really, what's not to like about this place? 207€ for four nights in a big room with a huge bed, only 5 mins walk from Rialto bridge and 10 mins from St Marks square. It was clean, mostly quiet and just around the corner from...More
I have absolutely no complaints about the Ca Bragadin, a very nice hotel, Central to Venice, and a good base for anyone wanting to spend time walking around the city.
Admittedly, we did not take advantage of the breakfast service whilst staying, preferring to eat...More
This is a truly fabulous hotel. We stayed in the suite overlooking the campo and it is one of the best rooms I have stayed at. Spotlessly clean, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely bathroom with great shower. A little difficult to find the front...More
We stayed in march 2013 and found it to be a perfect base for a stay in Venice. Very well located, close to Rialto and St Marks. Very easy to find upon arrival at Rialto if you follow the video. I would recommend to anyone...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
