Average food. Over priced. Avoid. The one a few metres along the canal is a much better option and was busier than ours. Why did we not choose there? The loos, however, are fairly clean so that’s one positive. Ignore the waiter’s pleas for you to dine there.

We enjoyed our stay and I do not understand all the negative reviews. Hotel Ai Due Principi is a good 3 star hotel. Positives: The room was clean and well stocked and equipped. The clerk on duty during the day was helpful. We got the superior room (recommended) and it was large. The Bed was comfortable (if you like a hard mattresses). The room provided plenty of storage. Storage was superior to the other places we stayed. The Shower was great. The breakfast buffet was good. The service provided by the attendant was excellent. The WIFI worked great. The hotel Ai Due Principi was conveniently located. The hotel was a short 5-minute walk to the Grand Canal waterfront and Riva Degli Schiavone. The hotel was a ten-minute walk to St Marks Piazza What could be improved · The Service was not consistent. The Hair dryer kept blowing out. The first time we requested a hair dryer - no one showed up with one. On our way out for dinner, we saw the evening clerk delivering a dryer to another room. The next time the hair dryer blew out, the day clerk was working and he delivered one immediately, The ventilation system delivers noise and odors from the restaurant below. We quickly got used to it.

Disgusting filthy rat trap that markets itself as a nice hotel and charges for it. I walked right by thinking this obviously awful tourist trap restaurant could not possibly be my hotel and it must be one of the two across the canal which looked like (and are) four star hotels, one of them didn't have a sign so I walked in and they told me to go back across the bridge. Staff are awful expecting you to he happy when they spit in your face and give you the keys to a filthy room with broken furniture and fixtures and stains all over. Cigarette butts from previous guests left in pots and ashtrays; we don't smoke. Did I mention that the hair dryers' fans don't work and just start smoking and burning the plastic? Did I inform the staff, and they made it clear they could care less? Marketing and price suggest it's a nice hotel but this is the bottom of the barrel. The sad thing is places like this make tourists think Italy has horrible service, awful food, disgusting hotel rooms, and everything is a total rip off, when the truth is quite different if you are not in a tourist trap.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. I am honestly a little surprised by some of the negative reviews here. We stayed as a family - 2 adults and 3 teenage boys. We had a family room overlooking the canal. We opened the windows and listened to Venice go by. It was lovely. The hotel was small which was nice and very clean. Breakfast on the canal each morning was so nice. Staff were helpful and even walked us to our water taxi stop on the morning we left.

Just my opinion! wrote a review Jul 2023

I’ve stayed in Venice many times and always select 4 or 5 star accommodation. I booked this one through Voyage Prive, supposedly a luxury brand company. This property is by far the worst I’ve stayed at in the city. Not 4 star by my standards…more of a three star!! Firstly, we couldn’t find it as they’ve stuck a Trip Advisor sticker over the name plaque. Secondly, no welcome drink (as was promised in the booking). This was finally given two days later after three complaints and consisted of a small bottle of Bellini which you can buy in the local Co-op for 2 euros. Thirdly, no taxi visit to Murano was offered (although this was promised in the booking). Their focus seems to be on running the restaurant and attracting passers by to dine rather than looking after hotel guests! Location is quite good and the rooms are spacious (we had a delux) although a little tired in places. Again, more three star than four in my opinion. Staff are not terribly helpful or friendly….unless plugging the restaurant!!! Rooms also smell of the food being cooked at certain times of day! We wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. Plenty of better choices at a similar price throughout the city.

We didn’t expect the ritz Carlton but the hotel room is very disappointing. It’s tiny. Dark and dingy. There is no space to put two suitcases. In fact no space for anything really. The bathroom cabinet is hanging off the wall. The toilet flush panel came off in my hand. I was recommended to this hotel by friends who had a much bigger room. We’ve been stuck at the back in a box !! I asked to move but of course they are fully booked. It wasn’t cheap either. But it’s no better than a hostel to be honest. The seating area outside the hotel is nice and the food served was good. The service was terrible. It took 20 mins to get the bill. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anything other than being central for sight seeing. It’s definitely not a four star. Maybe three star at a push. Avoid if you want good quality accommodation. It is not that.

the photos of the rooms online look nothing like they do in person. we were put in a room on the bottom floor right next to the kitchen. we were trying to sleep and all we could hear was them in the kitchen. it felt as if we were staying at our grandmas house in the spare room. i asked if we could move rooms and the old guy at the reception said they were fully booked when i know for a fact they weren’t. we had a view of the courtyard. for the money we paid this was awful. everything about this hotel was bad. the only good thing is the location.

Hotel is very well located, 5 min walks from all the iconic places to be visited. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast included is allright, however very pleasant to enjoy every morning by the water. One thing, hotel could elevate is the bed confort. Spécial thanks to Rony who took good care of us and make our journey very pleasant.

What can I say about these thief’s who charged me the whole amount $550 euros despite me successfully cancelling my booking. I even called the manager who told me that he refuses to refund me my hard earned money because they are thief’s. I have stayed at a dozen hotels and honestly this is the WORST hotel ( if I dare call it that) that I have come across. Please everyone please spend you money in a hotel that has a more honest manager and staff. They are thief’s and don’t care about wrongly charging customer credit cards. Sadly I guess they don’t realize that customers word of mouth is more valuable then a few $$$ that they got to pocket of mine.

Absolutely adore Venice and on this trip we decided we would spend a bit more than previously and stay closer to the Grand Canal, so we picked Hotel Ai Due Principi for its location and the fact that it looked very nice in the promotional photos!!! Location was brilliant, hotel very disappointing... On arrival we were met by a gentleman who had obviously chosen the wrong career path - he had no joy in him at all, seemingly very unhappy with his lot and just going through the motions. He took us to our room and left... The safe didn’t work, rang reception... he confirmed the safe in room 106 was broken!! We were disappointed to find that there were no English channels on the tv, I know it’s not really that important when you are in such a beautiful city, but we were there during the Covid pandemic so wanted to keep up to date with the news, along with the fact that we were unable to connect to the hotel WI-FI in our room, small things but disappointing. Jacuzzi bath didn’t work... not important but disappointing. Broken bathroom mirror... We could not fault the cleanliness at all and we were there towards the end of the season but there seemed to be a lack of care and it felt shabby. Breakfast was table service only, by a lovely lady who unfortunately did not understand English, and I am ashamed to say that we have only a few words of Italian... As a person with dietary requirements 🙈 there was very little choice and although the lady tried very hard to pile my plate with items I could eat, it just wasn’t things I really wanted. There was no chance of going off piste with the breakfast menu! So our review of this hotel is... Blahhhhhhh, not value for money. We met a lovely couple of Irish lady’s at dinner one evening who were staying in the 3 star Hotel Corte Dei Greci, the hotel next to our 4 star Hotel Ai Due Principi. They were there for 6 nights, we were staying for 4... they paid in total the same price we paid for one night, the only difference being they were room only and I have to say their hotel seemed nicer !!! Definitely not value for money. Restaurant and bar were fantastic, but were run from the hotel by different management...”Ristorante Dell ‘Osmarin... but that is a different review 😁
