the photos of the rooms online look nothing like they do in person. we were put in a room on the bottom floor right next to the kitchen. we were trying to sleep and all we could hear was them in the kitchen. it felt as if we were staying at our grandmas house in the spare room. i asked if we could move rooms and the old guy at the reception said they were fully booked when i know for a fact they weren’t. we had a view of the courtyard. for the money we paid this was awful. everything about this hotel was bad. the only good thing is the location.

Hotel is very well located, 5 min walks from all the iconic places to be visited. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast included is allright, however very pleasant to enjoy every morning by the water. One thing, hotel could elevate is the bed confort. Spécial thanks to Rony who took good care of us and make our journey very pleasant.

What can I say about these thief’s who charged me the whole amount $550 euros despite me successfully cancelling my booking. I even called the manager who told me that he refuses to refund me my hard earned money because they are thief’s. I have stayed at a dozen hotels and honestly this is the WORST hotel ( if I dare call it that) that I have come across. Please everyone please spend you money in a hotel that has a more honest manager and staff. They are thief’s and don’t care about wrongly charging customer credit cards. Sadly I guess they don’t realize that customers word of mouth is more valuable then a few $$$ that they got to pocket of mine.

Absolutely adore Venice and on this trip we decided we would spend a bit more than previously and stay closer to the Grand Canal, so we picked Hotel Ai Due Principi for its location and the fact that it looked very nice in the promotional photos!!! Location was brilliant, hotel very disappointing... On arrival we were met by a gentleman who had obviously chosen the wrong career path - he had no joy in him at all, seemingly very unhappy with his lot and just going through the motions. He took us to our room and left... The safe didn’t work, rang reception... he confirmed the safe in room 106 was broken!! We were disappointed to find that there were no English channels on the tv, I know it’s not really that important when you are in such a beautiful city, but we were there during the Covid pandemic so wanted to keep up to date with the news, along with the fact that we were unable to connect to the hotel WI-FI in our room, small things but disappointing. Jacuzzi bath didn’t work... not important but disappointing. Broken bathroom mirror... We could not fault the cleanliness at all and we were there towards the end of the season but there seemed to be a lack of care and it felt shabby. Breakfast was table service only, by a lovely lady who unfortunately did not understand English, and I am ashamed to say that we have only a few words of Italian... As a person with dietary requirements 🙈 there was very little choice and although the lady tried very hard to pile my plate with items I could eat, it just wasn’t things I really wanted. There was no chance of going off piste with the breakfast menu! So our review of this hotel is... Blahhhhhhh, not value for money. We met a lovely couple of Irish lady’s at dinner one evening who were staying in the 3 star Hotel Corte Dei Greci, the hotel next to our 4 star Hotel Ai Due Principi. They were there for 6 nights, we were staying for 4... they paid in total the same price we paid for one night, the only difference being they were room only and I have to say their hotel seemed nicer !!! Definitely not value for money. Restaurant and bar were fantastic, but were run from the hotel by different management...”Ristorante Dell ‘Osmarin... but that is a different review 😁

As the Italian Government changed the policies about Covid, we were not able to visit Venice. It's a bummer cause we would love to see Venice. We tried to change our booking at the Hotel. Unfortunatly, nothing possible, no cancelation, no rescedule. If you act this unreasonable in these circumstances, you can't be nice people. Everybody is trying to make the best of it. Not the people of Ai Due Principi. Hope to see Venice in 4 weeks. Will book another hotel.

We had a great evening with with the family in this restaurant in a very romantic corner directly opposite an old Venetian palace. The staff was extraordinary kind also to the kids, the food really good and very reasonably priced.

Close (but not too close) to St. Marks Square, this hotel was a wonderful combination of location, charm and service. The breakfast buffet was quite nice, the staff was very helpful and the rooms were big and comfortable.

We arrived at this hotel and proceeded to check in, a grumpy arrival with slight language barrier. We proceeded to our room. We were shown round and told we cannot change the temperature, or put the heating on, somewhat disturbing with a young baby. In the cluster of getting checked in with a baby and the multiple bags etc that come with that, we didn’t realise there wasn’t a cot in the room until the hotel manager had left the room. We proceeded downstairs to reception to ask about the cot which we had requested at time of booking and 4 times via email (evidence of which can be provided) but no response received. We were told that the booki g stated only 2 adults which was ridiculous as our booking g confirmation stated 2 adults and an infant. There was a discrepancy between our booking and the hotel booking from Expedia. We were told that it was a 15 euro surcharge for a cot, which we refuted. To their credit when we came back there was a cot in the room. However it was covered in holes and not fit for purpose, suspecting game playing we decided not to pursue it further. Breakfast was poor with little choice and only cooked options on the days they fancied. The waitresses were lovely and made good coffee however. But probably best to just do your own thing for breakfast. Hotel staff rude and uninviting. There seems to be a lack of passion here and I would recommend avoiding. We booked through Expedia where it stayed all tourist tax was included, we were then told on checkout that tourist tax was payable. 40 euros being the price, no payment by card, it seems a bonus scheme amongst staff. We paid by card which seemed to be a big song and dance, however reluctantly we were able to pay by this method. This will be refuted and claimed back from Expedia. Avoid this hotel at all costs, excellent reviews are clearly written by staff.

In my life of staying in hotels around the world... this is the very worst I have ever stayed at. I have no idea how they are allowed to display the pictures they do online it doesn’t look remotely like a single picture. The staff hardly speak English. We arrived with our 10month old baby. I showed them not one... but TWO emails I sent to them requesting a cot for our 10month old daughter (obviously! Shouldn’t even have to ask) to which they said.. no we didn’t get the message and you need to pay an extra €15 per night!! They then said they did not get a reservation for 2 adults and 1 child it was just for 2 adults despite myself showing this all in black and white. This turned in to an argument which left us fuming after a day of travelling. They gave in and gave us a dirty RIPPED cot which was uneven and wonky. Brilliant. Cheers guys. ‘Breakfast iS included’ well I should think so!!! All they offer is a croissant and some processed ham and cheese. You have staff staring at you whilst you eat and you have to whisper. It’s so very odd and uncomfortable. They Demand cash only when you leave to pay tax. We didn’t have cash only card. They basically tell you it’s a stupidly high price which it isn’t so they stuff the cash in their pockets. They left us stood at the desk for ages and involved 4 members of staff before giving in and taking card... we then looked online and it said it was included in the full price of the hotel at the end!!! That’s why they ask for cash to thieve your money! It’s the most bizarre place. Also... everything you touch has a charge. Literally everything is an extra charge. Scrap the ‘complimentary’ stuff. They don’t exist at the hotel. Your ‘beautiful view’ is a brick wall an arms length away if you stick your arm out the window. I’m out of words. It’s the biggest waste of money I have ever spent and I’m angry at myself for not checking the negative reviews on here before I booked, because they’re all completely spot on. The excellent reviews on here are from accounts made by staff. Simple as that. The whole hotel is the size of a cardboard box and it’s revolting. Don’t get yourself in to this mess like we did. Anyway... back to work to save for the financial damage done.. which is money down the drain. Oh there is one positive to be kind.. there is a nice shower in the room. Having said that... it’s never hot. Just cold water. But if you like ice showers then you’re sorted. So still can’t find a positive. And I have them a 1 star review .. simply because there was no option to give zero. Therefore, you’re welcome.

Whilst exploring Venice myself and my partner came across this place and decided to stop for some food. Absolutely amazing food and friendly service, reasonably priced for such a beautiful location as well. Well worth a visit
