I was traveling solo and stayed for 2 nights in Venice. I booked a room with 3 bed shared others guest also the bathroom. I shared it with a female traveler which is comfortable for me. The room is average, the bed is fine, the sheet is clean, the sharing bathroom is ok. The lift is quite unique with typically... More

The place was a bit difficult to find if you don't have a map but when you do, its a nice place to stay. We got a fan room with a shared bathroom. Towels a bit smaller but that does not make me complaint anything as the reception was so nice and kind to help. Definitely will stay here again.

This is a very basic hostel with nice personnel. The beds are absolutely inacceptable: old, squeaky, with worn mattresses. I think these were the worst beds I ever had in my (hotel) lifetime. No breakfast, but a nice roof terrace where you could have breakfast, if you bring your stuff. Location is good: San Rocco, close to the main station.

I took a short trip to Venice in June 2015, and after a lot of searching, decided to stay at Domus Civica. For whatever reason, many places in Venice did not have rooms available for the dates I was traveling, and I did not want to overspend. However, I figured it would be good to be in the city during... We stayed for 2 nights in June 2015. Rooms very clean. Bathrooms are outside the room, but we had no problem using the bathroom. We woke up early in the morning and there was no wait for the showers. They give you towels too. You can use their kitchen to prepare your breakfast. No A/C in the room, but that... More

Stayed in June last year. It was impossible to find as they did not give a street name on the website I booked. The rule of shutting at 11pm makes it a mad dash when everyone pours in, trundles up the stairs and the doors bang for about the next hour whilst everyone settles down. Very basic facilities and no... More

Close to train station, Clean. Remember that this is not a 5 star hotel, it's a dormitory. We set reasonable expectations and were not disappointed. Had to walk back to the hotel at 11pm before they close the gate though.

I was traveling with two of my girls friends and we stayed in Venice for 4 nights. The location was great because it was close to the train station and a 5-20 minute walk to any of the main attractions. There were a lot of young people staying there, which was nice. The staff was not super friendly compared to... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
