Initially we were a bit taken aback with some bad reviews, saw also the good ones and decided to go for it. Am glad we did. Of course it is not a perfect, 5* hotel, but it does not claim to be, nor does it charge accordingly. It is clean, has large rooms, typical decor of a former patrician house....

From the decor to the little balconies over looking the Venetian canals, this hotel is beautifully presented allowing you to really experience the true feeling of Venice. You often hear the french men singing as they paddle their gondola past your hotel room throughout the day. We found the location perfect, close to restaurants and main sightseeing attractions. Loved this...

Having not traveled in Europe for over 35 years, this was a wonderful experience. The staff was very helpful and courteous and helped me and 3 friends with restaurants, taxi service and general information. They serve a very nice continental breakfast each day and even had a bottle of bubbly wine upon our arrival. Nice touch. The hotel is close...

After a late arrival on 2nd October, we were shown to room 101. We were disappointed with the dacor, however Alex the receptionist together with Elaina moved us the following day to a fantastic room, 103 which mirrored the images on the internet. There were 2 breakfast rooms, one ground floor the other on the first floor, wonderfully stocked with...

This hotel needs to be much further up the list of hotels in Venice! Stayed here for 3 nights and it was great value (for venice)! Big rooms, close to all major tourist attractions and is nice and clean. I would stay here again no problem!! Great find and was really happy staying here.

We enjoyed our stay. Best thing was it was a walk to everything in Venice. Lots of good restaurants local to the hotel. Staff were helpful both checking in and giving hints to get around. Room was a little dated but all was fine for the price.

When you look at the outside of the hotel it doesn't seem as exciting or wow but the room we stayed in was truly an amazing sight. We stayed in room 103 which is deluxe room. The room was so big, 2 single beds and one double. The washroom was clean and there was even a bar with drinks in....

Very good location for walking around and sight seeing. A little far from the car park, but that's to be expected. The breakfast was an average Italian hotel breakfast, lots of cold cuts. We found the room to be exactly as advertised, I read other reviews stating that the pictures online didn't match the room. Our room was spot on...

We chose Corte Dei Greci based on price and location. It's a tricky place to find and my best advice would be to focus on the little gold plaques that hotels have outside - you should get there okay. All the staff spoke excellent English and were polite and helpful at all times. Our room was bigger than we had...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
