We made a three day reservation here months in advance of a September trip to Venice, persuaded by the good recommendation and mention in travel guides. Fortuitously, we had to cancel the first night when I was a little too ill to travel, an action which revealed a "clerical error" that meant we had no reservation. OK, stuff happens, but... More

We had a wonderful stay, and yes we got a little lost trying to find the B&B, but then again, we frequently got lost in Venice even when we thought we knew where we were going. Casa di Sara is within walking distance to the sites, maybe 15 minutes to St. Mark's Square. We had the bedroom on the main... More

This B&B is tucked away on a small canal and only a 3 minute walk from the ca Rezzonico Vapaoretto stop. Several nice restaurants and a supermarket nearby. It is easy to walk to Accademia bridge and St Marks square. Room was clean and made up each day. Basic croissant or cold cereal breakfast. However, croissants were freshly baked. Good... More

The owner was very helpful when plannnig my trip and also when we arrived. Our room was a little small but expected that in Venice. The location was great and loved being away from the crowds. Breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed it on the rooftop terrace. Great value!

I recommended Casa di Sara very highly. It's quiet and secluded, a welcome respite from the crowds, but surprisingly close to the Accademia, Frari Church, and other attractions. The entrance is on a sidewalk adjoining a canal, from which you are led into a leafy courtyard. My room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good; the staff were friendly and... More

Our family of 4 squeezed into the room with one queen and two twin beds. Our son's bed was equipped with a box spring only; no mattress! The owner was quite friendly and we appreciated that. It was also quiet and in a nice spot. The breakfast was fine for those who tolerate gluten but I do not. The price... More

We had a bit of a trouble finding the place through no fault of the hotel. Venice itself was simply confusing on first arrival. Once we found it, though, it was like stepping into a whole separate world. There is a tiny private garden that instantly helps you relax. The B&B had homemade breakfast (wonderful). The owner was also very... More

This B&B was like a little sanctuary in busy Venice. The owner, Mr. Patella met us at the canal upon arrival as we would have had a tough time finding the place. He was super friendly and sweet. The B&B is on a small canal and when you enter the door there is a lovely courtyard. Our room was clean... More

Lots to love about this place. Quiet, beautifully decorated with antique furniture, and located 3 blocks from a charming plaza filled with superb restaurants. Also enjoyed the rooftop terrace for quiet time in the evenings watching Venice come to rest. Recommended by Rick Steves and you can see why. Clean, functional and reasonable rates. Enjoyed our stay. Nice breakfast and... More

We started our trip here and ended here. It was a lovely welcome and a touching send-off. Firstly, anything in Venice is hard to find, so allow plenty of time to reach your destinations, download an offline map, and use GPS. This B&B is centrally-located, easy to walk the water transit stations (Vaporetta, airport ferry, etc), but still so quiet... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
