I got a bit scared at first since the building from the outside looked kind of rough, but the hotel was really beautiful and modern on the inside. We had a really nice room, clean and with good air condition. Everything was great. The only downside is that wifi is not available in the rooms, only in the lounge.

We stayed here for 2 days in July on our norther Italy road trip. Outstanding hotel. Clean, modern rooms with nice deco. We got a free upgrade to a junior suite, a nice bonus. The receptionist, NIcola, was very helpful and knowledgable. He made some nice restaurant recomendations and reservations. He also arranged a private canal tour by booking a... More

Unique small-scale hotel, in the heart of Venice. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's a bit difficult to find, but very convenient location. We enjoyed our one-night stay and good breakfast. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for something a little different that is away from the large-scale hotel feel.

Loved the area - quiet but central. Room was comfortable with a nice view outside the window. The breakfast was simple but yummy. The staff was very nice and helpful. One downside was no wifi in the rooms on the second level, but there was wifi in the lounge and on the first floor.

The location of this hotel is very nice - not too close to the very busy areas, but close enough to walk anywhere. Although the hotel is located in a primarily residential area, there are still many small sidewalk cafes to frequent. Although we only spent 3 days, we had already developed favorites to stop by on our way 'home'... More

The service at this hotel was great, with staff really going out of their way to provide suggestions and tips. We saw 4 different desk staff and all of them were quite friendly and helpful with directions and time tables for boats etc. breakfast choices were good. Room was clean and bathroom was spacious for Venice. Only complaint was an... More

A great find in an amazing city, it's about a 10 minute walk to the Train and Bus Station, 5 minutes to the nearest Water Bus Stop. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel more than welcome. A little gem of a Hotel.

An easy walk from water bus (line # 1 or 5.1), or longer walk from San Marco area. We liked the quiet neighborhood and local restaurants in the area. Our room (2nd floor) was clean, quiet, essential items included (fluffy towels, hair dryer, TV with BBC, small fridge). Excellent, excellent breakfast including fresh cappuccino, scramble eggs and cooked ham, large... More

Visited this hotel during carnival time (February 2016). The location is great - short walk to most sites whilst being slightly off the beaten track. Our room was lovely with super high ceiling and quirky whilst traditional decor. Breakfast was enough to keep you going for the day and the staff were lovely and helpful throughout. We were in a... This hotel is in a quiet area near the train station and vaporetto. I love the location of this hotel! This is a great place to stay if you have luggage since there's about 400 bridges in Venice. Although it's not close to St. Marks square, I had no issues with it since Venice is a walking city and it... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Ca Zusto Venice is an ancient patrician palace of the fourteenth century in a noble and sophisticated style just a few steps from the Grand Canal. Thanks to the skilful conservative renovation, the building has been restored to its former glory, when Venice was a crossroads between East and West. The result is a boutique hotel, unique and innovative from all points of view: from the comfort of which it disposes to the design of the interiors which reaches its highest expression in the only 22 rooms of the hotel. Each one of them is exclusive and unique. High tech equipments integrate themselves within ancient and aristocratic spaces, creating strong contrasts, the true expressive sign of the whole building. Curtains and brocades, precious bedspreads and the ceilings with ancient beams stand out of different tones of color. Everyone clearly feels the inspiration from Byzantine atmospheres. The service is 4 stars, with great attention to each detail and thought to satisfy every desire, in the name of the Italian hospitality. The Hotel Ca Zusto Venice is a little jewel to be lived and discovered in the historic heart of Vernice. From the "Basilica della Salute" on the Grand Canal to the small canals all around the "Teatro La Fenice" or between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, a traditional gondola tour is ideal to appreciate some of the most beautiful settings of Venice. ... more   less
