So there we were, two hungry gents after a big morning on the slopes. Suffice to say we were absolutely gagging for a choice pizza. Walking out of the gondola, the Astoria was the first establishment that we saw. The outside area looked simply wonderful and the staff seemed well turned out. Winner we thought. Anyway long story short, we ordered and the pizza's rocked up. What followed was arguably the worst pizza both of us had ever had of misfortune of nibbling on. Clearly a frozen pizza reheated (IN ITALY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!), with the base still tasting of the gas oven. The topping was sparse and tasteless. A traumatic experience. We simply never thought it possible to have a bad pizza in Italy. The service and decor was nice though. And maybe other items of the menu could be good. But don't get the pizza.

Hotel was very nice - rooms were clean but with a dated decoration - brown and orange from the 70s. Lounge was nice and the waiters and staff were very pleasant. Angelo however, is a unique Octogenarian with a foul mouth at times (half the things meant as a joke but sometimes unnecessary). I was really chewed off by his assistance on needing cash payment and settlement of the bar bill half way through the week! In these modern days no one carries vast amounts of cash and this really isn’t the way to run a modern hotel! So ruddy annoying. Food was excellent rest of the hotel services were great but you need to have a thick skin and loads of cash!!!

This is a very average hotel. It's close to the Plan Maison lifts which is a big plus. You need to be able to ski red runs to return there at the end of your day. The rooms are clean and tidy, but sparse. The floors are tiled, and consequently noisy. You can hear most things from the adjoining rooms. Our party of six did not enjoy the food. It was edible, but unimaginative. The boot room is very good, with individual lockers for each room, and heated boot racks. Some of the staff were very good, others, not so. I didn't like this hotel, and would not stay there again.

Good room of good 3 star standard. A little basic but comfortable, roomy and clean. 50m to ski lift and five minutes to main street. What made the stay great was the staff who were always friendly and helpful. The heating was a little eccentric with little control in the room and probably off during the day. 2 English news channels on TV. Good value and would certainly return.

We stayed and had a fantastic holiday. So close to the ski lift albeit uphill! Meant you were quickly up the mountain and skiing and home at the end of the day. Ideally situated for short walk to shops and bars. Breakfast was very good and dinner in the evening was excellent! We were never hungry. So many courses and variety of choices. Staff friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable. Plus boot and ski storage .
