I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Bucaneve. The perfect place to check in if you are going to the beautiful village Cervinia to ski or discover its breathtaking surroundings. We was served delicious food from their daily and very varied menu and each and every day we went down to they lovely spa area to relax. After our long days in the slopes we were more then happy to spend our evenings in good company at the hotel's restaurant and later maybe sit down in the incredibly cosy and confortable launch to listen to some good live song-and piano music. Thanks to all the staff at Bucaneve for an exceptional service and all your help to localize the best parts of the neighborhood! It was a long time ago I felt so peaceful after a trip. We will definitely be back! Best regards Ebba Ahlstrom

We were a party of eight Four adults and four young teenagers all skiing for the first time. The staff coudn',t have been more helpful. The décor Is slightly old fashioned but warm and welcoming. The food in the main was very good and four teenage boys usually found some thing to satisfy their appetites. We adults were quite happy with the selection on offer. The rooms were fine and the staff were very helpful. Altogether avery pleasant experience.

No clue how this hotel can have such a strong rating. The hotel is not without its pros. The spa is quite quite nice, if you make it during the opening period. The linens are nice quality, and someone clearly cared to make the rooms nicely finished at some point a while ago. The bathroom is spacious and overall, generally clean-ish (minus the large stain in our carpet). The area around the bar is lovely and cozy, definitely could be well suited to a very cozy apres ski. The breakfast had fresh juice but limited options. HOWEVER, Overall a very poor experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, around noon, we a very lukewarm reception... No welcome whatsoever, more the impression we were inconveniencing staff. We inquired if we could access our room early or at least drop our bags, and that further deteriorated the situation. We were heading skiing, and were directed to a ski room smelling strongly of sewage and a basement bathroom to change our clothes in. No assistance with bags, the gentleman at desk simply watched as I (smaller woman in heels) hefted about a extra large duffle full of gear. Fast forward a few hours and we returned after a stunning ski to finally check in. Asked for our identification and gave one passport (the other being in the luggage we had left earlier) and promised to return once we had taken a short rest. We were escorted to a tiny, worn "suite" on the first floor, viewing onto the roof and street. Not exactly what had been marketed for a >$530/night room. Rushed to the spa...warning...it closes at 7pm. The earliest i have ever seen among small boutique hotels in the Alps. And only opens at 2pm. So dont go hoping to relax too much! However, before we made it there, were accosted by the staff on the elevator of having only presented one passport at checkin. This person clearly, since arrival, had issue with us and/or some sort of other substantial stress. Very much had the tone of wanting a fight. To violently aggress guests for an added piece of identification when car keys, credit card, and one passport were already in their possession, is completely inappropriate (and bizarre). To say we were shocked would be an understatement. We travel a lot for work, to very difficult settings, with many different types of complications, but never have seen anything so absurdly inappropriate as this. Addressed with director, who did apologise. A bottle of prossecco appeared in our room, but did not come close to making amends. Next morning, breakfast, and again it was a surprise we were guests... eventually we received a coffee and a lackluster breakfast. Overall, incredibly bizarre and hostile service, ok room. Poor value, even for the relatively high price point of the town. There are MANY better options in the immediate area. Go for the incredible skiing and stay elsewhere.

The Hotel Bucaneve truly impressed us! First it is the location: 100 meters from the skilift, and right at the best end of Cervinia. Second came the food and restaurant: Excellent quality throughout - we did not have one single course over three day that disappointed us in any sense! Excellent Italian cooking, and far beyond the simple everyday Italian dishes. We had great fish, veal, risotti, cheese - not to mention their mile long wine list! Third is the "homeliness" of the Bucaneve, and that goes both for the interior decorations, and the personal service. Two evenings, the receptionist played the piano, while we sat by the fire place and enjoyed some of the hotel's good books and a glass of wine! Fourth is the service and "can-do attitude" of the staff: Excellent help with parking, ski cards, lunch restaurant bookings in the slope, etc, etc. Fifth is the rooms: nice and comfortable, although not very spacious. Sixth come all the other amenities: Excellent ski room with heaters to dry your boots after an intensive day, the pool area, etc. The Bucaneve is not cheap, but when you realize that everything is included in the price (Room, vast breakfast, 3-course dinner, afternoon tea, etc), this is not expensive either! And the Bucaneve definitely adds the comfortable and relaxing contrast to your full day of skiing! Will come again!

The hotel has a number of great positives but a few little niggles which would make it top drawer if they could be eliminated. The positives: great location - quiet but with easy access to the slopes, a lovely lounge/bar area to sit, chat, read books etc, very friendly and helpful staff who all speak good English and a nice spa area (albeit only open from 2PM). Our room was very good - clean and comfortable, although the mattress and pillows were very much on the firm side. Dinner was not served until 7.30PM which meant a bit of a rushed process as we like to have earlier dinners, lingering over courses and wine. The food varied in quality - we had an excellent macaroni cheese and fabulous roast beef but a very poor spaghetti carbonara and very bland (over-cooked) tuna for example. On our last night, the bathrobes were removed from our room whilst we were at dinner, which made us feel as if were considered as likely bathrobe thieves and left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth. Overall, a good hotel and a pleasant stay, with just a few points the hotel could do with addressing.
