We have just returned from our ninth visit to Meran and our fourth to this glorious luxury hotel (previous visits in 2012 to 2014). This was a late booking, for 16 nights, following the Covid-related cancellations of all our previous attempts to reach the Alps this year, including our planned holiday in June at the beautiful Hotel Adria, sister to the Park Mignon. On arrival at the Park Mignon we were greeted with great warmth by the family owners and the many staff members whom we recognised from either the Mignon or the Adria. It turned out that we were the hotel’s first English guests this year, and indeed the first Inghams guests to visit any hotel in Meran. This we found bizarre, because the Meran area was relatively unscathed during Northern Italy’s spring Covid crisis, and it has clearly taken huge precautions - in the hotels, on public transport, in shops - to protect its citizens and visitors. Compliance with local instructions on wearing masks, sanitising hands and maintaining social distancing seemed to us exemplary, and we quickly felt relaxed and safe, inside the hotel and out. Everything about the Park Mignon hotel is first class. Because we spent most of our days hiking in the mountains, we did not visit the extensive spa, but the indoor/outdoor pool was lovely at the end of the day. The food is sensational, with choice at every stage of the six-course dinners, plus additional amuse-bouches from the chef at the gala dinners on Sundays. On our first Thursday we enjoyed a traditional Tyrolean evening, with Heinz Gamper on the zither accompanying a terrific, albeit filling, dinner. On the second Thursday the star turn was the patisserie chef - we were served a stunning range of (mostly chocolate) desserts. The wine list is also excellent, with many high-end local wines to choose from, as well as international options. The prices of the wine are very fair, with affordable as well as eye-wateringly expensive bottles available. At the start of the day, the (masked-up, socially distanced) breakfast buffet also set us up beautifully for our hiking. Our room was smart and the twin beds very comfortable. The weather in Meran was not as hot as we had expected in August, certainly not too hot for hiking, and we experienced a couple of days of rain with dramatic evening thunderstorms. But given the right hiking gear, this didn’t matter at all; indeed the contrasts were refreshing. We have our tenth holiday to Meran booked for next June. We will be staying at the lovely Adria again (which I have reviewed in previous years); for us as a retired couple, it is a more affordable long-term option. But for 2020 the luxury of the Park Mignon has been a welcome restorative after the bleakness of lockdown in the UK, and we are most grateful to the hotel family and staff for treating us so well.…
Nice wellness and spa hotel in nothern Italy, Every room has a balcony. The rooms are clean. Quality and quantity of food at the breakfast is great. Very nice and kind staff. Also there is a garage in the hotel!
We enljoyed the kind service and the pleasant environment very much. We spent time in the nice pool and enjoyed the good food. Everything was to our enjoyment. We can recommend a stay to anyone who is looking for peaceful time.
Hidden down a private and leafy lane, the Park Hotel Mignon is a quiet little piece of Eden belying its convenient walking location to Merano centro. On arrival, which was very cordial, we were welcomed with a glass of wine overlooking the park-like garden. Our room appeared to have been recently refreshed in the current style and was very comfortable and quiet. Dinner was well presented. The wine list was impressive for its selection. Our stay was very short, so no opportunity to take advantage of the spa or the pool, but we hope for another opportunity to do so.
A most enjoyable week in hotel mignon. The staff is smiling and helpful. The spa very very good indeed, especially ms Lena Lena. Dinner always interesting and top class , and the vital menu with half of the calories not bad at all. You can see that the details in this hotel are top priority of the female owners, who are always present. And apart from that it is 10 minutes away from the famous shopping street Laubengasse. We can recommend this hotel.
Superb hotel with first class staff. We have stayed more than a dozen times over the past 15 years and it is first rate every time.. beautiful surroundings... superb accommodation... wonderful food ... really excellent staff
I've just spent a couple of nights in this beautiful hotel and I can't recommend it enough. The ambiance is beautiful from the moment you walk through the door and all of the staff including the owner can't do enough for you. The location is excellent being a few minutes walk from the delightful town centre. Although close enough to the town it holds an air of tranquility within that helps you feel relaxed the moment you check in. The food was excellent and the staff extremely attentive. Lovely lovely hotel.
The Hotel Mignon is tucked away in a quiet backwater of the beautiful city of Merano, but only a short walk away from the riverside cafes, restaurants, and the bustling city center. Surrounded by green and tranquil gardens, and with panoramic mountain views, the hotel is pure class. Luxurious without ostentation. Grand but discreet. The bedrooms are of a good size, pleasant and comfortable, with well thought out storage and lighting. The en-suite bathrooms are superb. Dining at the hotel is a culinary experience. With top class chefs, every evening offers a wide variety of dishes, cooked and presented to perfection and served by immaculate staff. Breakfast may be taken on the beautiful garden terrace, with an infinite choice of fruits and pastries and eggs cooked however you like them. This hotel is the place to unwind in its peaceful and calm surroundings. To relax and to be pampered. That is why my wife and I, have been drawn back to the Mignon over successive years, as try as we might, we have not found any other European holiday destination that is as good. The Mignon offers a unique hotel experience, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. …
Guests should be made aware more to take a shower before entering the pool. It is a shame that nowadays adults, mostky from Europe, still thus have to be taught. Common folks, don‘t be selfish and nasty.
You cannot better this hotel, Rooms, facilities, Food, friendliness, cleanliness all superb. situated in the centre of Merano, it is so quiet. The gardens are kept beautifully, the spa area is spotless.
