This is a friendly, family run hotel with secure parking and a pleasant courtyard with mountain views. The food is pretty good. My only negative point is that there are no irons in the room. Other than that the rooms are large and comfortable. Very pleased
We stopped here on our way back to Germany and found the hotel to be okay. The room was spacious and fairly comfortable, but we were disappointed to find that the restaurant was closed upon arrival. The host didn't have many dinner suggestions and did not seem to be very interested in helping, so we found one on our own. The breakfast was okay, but it appeared that the only people who could order coffee were those that worked there. The patrons drank the sludge from the cheap machine. There were several employees hanging around the coffee bar drinking their espresso, which was a bit uncomfortable. There is free parking.
A bit outside the city center, Lewald is a family run property with wonderful Tyrollean decor and great food. This area is off the beaten path but a must see destination in the Dolomites. The hotel gives you everything you need for a comfortable stay and is a short bus ride, taxi, or drive to the city center. I had several families stay here this past summer for a sporting event and all enjoyed the stay.
A few negatives and positives about Hotel Lewald: Negatives: It is situated about twenty minutes by car from the centre of Bolzano on a fairly busy road. The rooms, although very clean and comfortable, are old-fashioned and could do with an upgrade. The restaurant lacks atmosphere and the food is quite expensive for the quality. The breakfast is adequate but not as good as expected with a limited choice. Positives: The staff are very welcoming and accommodating and speak a number of languages, mainly German, Italian and French. Free underground parking. Free wifi. In summary, not a terrible experience but would not stay there again.
I was very impressed by ospitality, restaurant and wellness area of this hotel. Very clean room with a balcony, no rumor. Lovely staff and nice restaurant on the 1st floor. The welness area has a Turkish bath, Finland bath and sensory shower that is included in price of room. Also it has a room for relax where i got a cup of nicest tea i've ever had. The location of this hotel is a little bit far from the center. But if you have a car you'll be there in 10 minutes. Very nice experience. Highly recommended.
