#3 of 20 B&Bs / Inns in Pavia
We are a bed & breakfast located at 4 km from the historical center of Pavia, and we are called "The alle Cinque" (Five O'Clock Tea), as if you arrive at this time, hot tea in the winter, or iced tea in the summer, will be served. Our desire is that our hosts can freely live the house, and not only the rooms, to enjoy the atmosphere, the colors, peace and silence.Ours is a small renovated farm, with portico and garden, somewhat special: the ceilings are made of wood and are black or blue, the living room is 10 meters high, one can pass from the television/library area to the billiard room on a suspended catwalk with railings. Our bed & breakfast offers three solutions: two double bedrooms, accessed through a suggestive corridor, and one small two-roomed apartment with a private access to the garden. Each bedroom can be equipped with a small bed for a baby.Peace and silence are guaranteed everywhere, even if the dog is barking at the blackbird, the dove is nestled under the portico and Satie's notes fill the house.

I stayed for four nights with my mother and sister. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hosts are wonderful people that welcomed us in their home with kindness and great hospitality. We especially enjoyed our sleep (I hadn't slept so well in years) and breakfast, when we enjoyed spending time with the exquisite lady of the house. She was simply fabulous, a very elegant and kind lady that we loved chatting to. Breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee and cakes. Highly recommended. We will be back.

First remark: you will probably get lost if you search for 55 via dela Strada. On my GPS or NavSat the address was referred to as Strada dela Strada. Secondly, the street number on the door is 57 and not 55. Thirdly the picture you see is taken from inside the garden and not from the street. This being said, I absolutely loved my stay in this B&B. The place is huge, the comfort is great, it's a very beautiful, very big house with lots of paintings everywhere. There is a nice dog. The owners are adorable. You will most enjoy your visit if you are an art lover.

We were cycling the Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome, and decided to have a couple of nights in Pavia as there is much to see. Finding the Alle Cinque proved to be a bit of a challenge, as others have mentioned, but the effort was more than worth it. The welcome from Giancarlo was extremely warm and friendly and he made it clear he wanted us to treat the entire house as if it were our own home. As others have commented, the entire property is a gem. It has been lovingly converted from an old farm/military building in a fascinating and very stylish way; there are many quirky and often humorous touches. Our bedroom was very comfortable and spacious with our own dedicated bathroom located next door. Each evening Giancarlo and Gabriela offer an aperitif along with local meats or cheeses. There is a palpable sense of friendship and conviviality. They clearly really enjoy having house guests. Breakfast is excellent with freshly baked cakes and pastries; very Italian! What added to the ambience for us was the lovely music which drifted through the rooms. In our earlier correspondence we had mentioned we loved classical music and were accordingly nicknamed the "musical Cyclists" by our hosts and treated to the music of Bach and Chopin. Gabriela speaks good French which helped us as our Italian is limited. Her warmth of personality overcame any linguistic obstacles though! This was a wonderful and unique place to stay. Our thanks to Gabriela and Giancarlo
