Central Station represents a bridge towards the future. Impressive skyscrapers and new age buildings stretch the skyline with the majestic Unicredit Tower cutting through. Surrounding it are large towers that define Piazza Gae Aulenti, where the fountain and the Monumento Trombe leave one breathless. A famous building of the district is the Vertical Forest, where the innovative materials and trees planted on the terraces are a unique mix of nature and man-made construction. In the district, there is the Monumental Cemetery, known for its antique tombs with sculptures portraying angels of commemorative scenes many will find touching.

The hotel is very stylish and offers a lot of amenities. There was nothing “wrong” with our stay (except for the room lights being annoying, more on that below). But it did not feel like anything special. The staff felt a bit cold, except for one of the servers at breakfast who was really nice. Good things: There’s a shuttle that will take you to the center, either the Maserati or a van, which was nice. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The bed and pillows were comfortable. And the room service food was pretty good. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Cons: The lights in the room are controlled by panels on each side of the bed and on the wall, which are really bright at night when trying to sleep. There’s no way to cover it up since it’s flat against the wall. That was the only really annoying thing about our stay, and we didn’t have very restful sleep.

The hotel is modern, clean and has amazing service. The best trip arranged by the concierge was a day trip to Lake Como. They had a tour guide that made the whole stay in Millan amazing. He treated us like a guest in his city. The concierge booked us with Alberto who provided a wonderful experience for my family. You can look at his instagram site at lakeofcomotour Alberto is truly amazing and you will have the best time. Very memorable.

This is my second stay at the hotel within the last two years and I would certainly return again when back in Milan. The rooms are large and luxurious. Love the breakfast--huge delicious buffet and the roof top bar looking over the central train station is a real treat. The hotel offers free chauffeur driven Maseratis to the center of the city so if the hotel location is a concern it really shouldn't be. (Makes a great photo op to send back to envious friends back home) Great hotel!

We had a wonderful, but all too short stay in Milan at the amazing Excelsior Gallia. The hotel is beautiful, a unique mix of old and ulta modern. The front desk and bellmen / doormen were all welcoming and very professional and friendly. They all seemed to remember my name. The rooms are beautiful. Ours had huge windows overlooking the baroque facade Station and park. Beautiful ammenities and a wonderful bed. Great shower and lovely bathroom. And quiet. Breakfast offered an extraordinary array of items, but fell short in some ways. Service was not attentive at all and hot items in the hot section of the buffet were not hot. The wonderful fruits, pastries, smoothies and healty options made up for it.
