When I made my reservation the Piazza room, king was over $100 dollars more per night than the room without a view... When I asked management why we did not get room we booked I was told that hotel is full because of conventions in city and they made a mistake and they could move us to Piazza room tomorrow... The last thing we want to do is unpack for one night and spend first tour day making to another room... I was told there was no difference in price, which is not correct, and therefore if I did not want to change room the next day it is not their problem anymore...     A beautiful property literally a few steps from the station, yet once you step inside you feel a sense of calm and luxury due to the beautiful surroundings and very hospitable staff, from the bellmen, to the front desk, to the housekeeping and the restaurant staff... Coffee machine, tea machine, and we loved the Aqua di Parma toiletries with lovely scents... The buffet breakfast was excellent where again, service was very good... I enjoyed the spa services, including the steam room and salt room... Robes and slippers provided and the facilities were complimentary, including the gym and pool... To top it off, there was a very convenient complimentary hotel shuttle to take you to the sightseeing area of the Duomo and La Scala, and famous shopping area...

I landed at the hotel and found out they have free shuttles running to and from to the duomo every 40 minutes and you have no idea how much of headache that saved me... The staff was ever so courteous and always smiling and greeting you be it the doorman or the reception or in the corridors... Was given a club sandwich last day but it would have been better if it was grilled... I stayed in 142 it was a excelsior roman the bathroom and the room itself was fantastic...

If you’re taking the train to Milan - highly recommend this hotel as it’s literally across the road from the station and has excellent service and amenities... Amazing service and friendly staff, scheduled complimentary transfers to/fro the Milan Duomo or the fashion streets, great breakfast selection and the room was clean, spacious, modern and comfortable...

    This hotel is a Marriott Bonvoy member and I have Platinum Elite Status... When I asked management why we did not get room we booked I was told that hotel is full because of conventions in city and they made a mistake and they could move us to Piazza room tomorrow... Marriott is my favorite hotel chain but of course traveling over 4 months a year we book other hotels as well...

    A friend and I booked this wonderful hotel in Milan to celebrate my birthday in February. The concierge was brilliant on our arrival day and arranged our day trip to St Moritz, Switzerland from the train station literally opposite the hotel... Perfect location to travel a few minutes into Milan or anywhere in Italy from the Central train station... An hour bus ride from here takes you to either Milan Airport... On my birthday we were surprised with Prosecco and birthday card and fruits... Thank you for making my birthday so lovely!...

    A beautiful property literally a few steps from the station, yet once you step inside you feel a sense of calm and luxury due to the beautiful surroundings and very hospitable staff, from the bellmen, to the front desk, to the housekeeping and the restaurant staff... Coffee machine, tea machine, and we loved the Aqua di Parma toiletries with lovely scents... The buffet breakfast was excellent where again, service was very good... I enjoyed the spa services, including the steam room and salt room... Robes and slippers provided and the facilities were complimentary, including the gym and pool... To top it off, there was a very convenient complimentary hotel shuttle to take you to the sightseeing area of the Duomo and La Scala, and famous shopping area...

They have a cigar room but they do not sell Cigar so surprised... Taking shower in the hotel is next to impossible unless you call the front desk to operate the shower knob...     The concierge worked a miracle for us, getting us on a Last Supper tour that had been sold out for weeks. Warm tile bathroom floors made visiting the spacious bathroom even better... 24 hour room service made things super convenient as well...     We stayed here in December, 2022 in two adjoining rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful at every turn... Our rooms on the top floor gave us a great view of the train station... The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the welcome from the hotel in the form of drinks and fruit sent up to our rooms... The breakfast offerings were varied and delicious with great service... We've stayed in other hotels of this level and they would always just call the shuttle for us when we wanted it... That would have been easier, considering the short distance, and would have been a nicer touch... Otherwise our stay was great and we would return...

    ...I booked a one bedroom Signature King site that overlooked the train station. It was luxurious and high up enough that while I had a great view, it wasn't noisy... Room service was excellent, especially the marrow risotto... The room service staff was friendly, helpful and just all around great... However it is a good walk to the Duomo and other tourist areas so keep that in mind... I brought my Milanese friend there and she loved it... But the luxury is worth it and I look forward to returning to Milan and staying there again...

Worst stay in 5 star hotel ever. Rooms are dirty and damaged. Avoid this place. Manager promise to change our room but it stayed on promise. Staff on front desk is nice but aware that rooms are dirty. There are so many better places in Milan to stay.

There was a lot to like here but our room was quite small. No upgrades available. First time that has ever happened. Two big issues: 1. You need to uber to the other part of town . The shuttle was either 45 min from coming or booked every time we checked. It was not at all convenient. 2 One of the main elevators was broken and the other had a mind of it's own.I was in with other guests who were so frustrated by this experience. We almost missed out pricey tx to the Last Supper due to the elevator! HUGE hassle and in my opinion management should have warned and given a credit! 3. Some of the paint chipping off rooms in hallways Awful Breakfast is great but get there early!

Avoid where you can - had several issues from check in and quality of the room. I found the staff to be rude, condescending and just unhelpful. Rooms are also outdated. Given the hotel is located outside of the downtown area, your best to look for something else (a lot of better options) more closer to the city.

Staying at this hotel for four nights as part of a 40th anniversary trip. In this review I wish to thank the Manager Issam K for his exceptional customer service. During our first night we discovered a problem with the lighting control system that resulted in lights turning on at night entirely on their own, making sleep very challenging. Issam facilitated an immediate move to a better room to resolve our concern. That in itself is great service and what a long-standing Marriott guest should expect. But those of us who regularly travel know that immediate and satisfactory resolution is not always the case in the hospitality business. This encounter was noteworthy, and worthy of a review, because of the professional, caring, sincere concern for the guest demonstrated by an exceptional employee, Issam K. Our sincere thanks to Issam for his exceptional customer service, and we look forward to returning to the Excelsior Hotel Gallia on our next trip to Milan.

The Hotel Gallia is a lovely building conveniently located next to Milan’s central train station. The ground floor is very clean and stylish, with an opulent feel, though in my personal opinion some splashes of colour (artwork or flowers) wouldn’t go amiss as the whole hotel looks very neutral. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, and efficient air conditioning, which was welcome in August. The furniture which appeared to be constructed from vinyl or a faux leather was dated and falling apart so definitely needs some attention for a property of this level. The breakfast was very enjoyable and of a high quality. The Shiseido spa looked lovely and is rated as one of the best spas in Milan, so to include free access to this is a real benefit for anyone staying here. The staff here are what would make me return to this hotel. Everyone without exception made us feel valued and were very service-oriented, willing to go that extra mile.

Classic grand hotel in Milan. You will not encounter a nicer group of hotel staff beginning with Paolo at the door to Denise at the reception and especially Alessandro and Maurizio on the concierge desk. Paolo literally walked us to the train station. Marriott has not yet a much needed refurbishing much of the hotel and especially the rooms. Much of the furniture is pretty beat up and worn. Even the staff apologized for the poor appearance. We would return for the wonderful staff.

The staff is very attentive and the hotel is beautiful. The room however is what I was really disappointed in. For a 5 star hotel the rooms need a major overhaul. Ripped up leather is really not acceptable and I would not recommend to any of my clients! The location to the train station is perfect right across the street and the free shuttle service to/from the Duomo area is a plus.

Stay here regularly with no issues. However my last visit did not go smooth at all. Poor treatment received upon check in. I called at 7am that morning to request a room with two beds. I was with my mother and arrived at 12:00pm our room was not ready until 4pm. After being told it would be ready at 2:00pm. I am a titanium member and was treated rudely by front desk manager and then screamed at by the front desk staff when I asked for a water while waiting. Caused me to miss an important meeting scheduled in advance.

My wife has been a Titanium or Platinum Elite Marriott member for decades, and we booked the "Luxury Collection Excelsior Gallia Milan Hotel" expecting a bit of luxury after a Viking Med cruise that ended in Venice. The public areas of this hotel are beautiful, although we discovered a homeless man sleeping on a couch in one of the public areas, most of the staff was polite although some were rather arrogant, the breakfast buffet was decent, however the rooms themselves, at least the 2 we were in are in horrific condition. We were first assigned room 614, I have attached photos. Filthy, stained and faded carpets, pee stained floor in the bathroom, black mold in the shower, ripped faux leather headboard, actually way too much faux leather and all of it ripped. What you can't see is the stench emanating from somewhere in the bathroom, stench like an open sewer. When we complained, we were told that this was a room that still hadn't been "remodeled", and we were offered a newly remodeled, within the past year, and much smaller room, 315. I immediately saw that all of the faux leather had been replaced, and there was no foul stench in the bathroom. We dropped off our bags and went out to dinner. After we returned, we saw, again, just how stained and filthy the carpet was, less but still black mold in the bathroom, stains on the bathroom floor and walls. We should have checked out, but we were exhausted after traveling all day. Customers need to be aware that this hotel is directly across the street from Milano Centrale, the huge Milan train station. My wife and I enjoy walking the streets of the cities we visit, but this location is very, very sketchy, and we did not feel comfortable wandering more than a block from the hotel by foot. They do offer a shuttle to the Duomo and La Scala area, however it only holds 7 people, which is probably why they don't advertise it, we had to ask. We had a tour of the Duomo scheduled, and we checked with the concierge the day before for the times the shuttle would be leaving the following morning. They declined to take a reservation for the shuttle. We arrived downstairs the next morning and walked outside 30 minutes before the shuttle was to run. We were told we should wait inside and they would let us know when it arrived. Five minutes before it was scheduled we walked outside and told a different doorman we were there for the shuttle. "No, no, we already have a full load of people, you cannot take this shuttle, you will have to wait for the next" I told him we had been waiting 30 minutes for the shuttle, had been instructed to wait inside. He stormed away, went inside, returned and begrudgingly, with a scowl, allowed us to board. We took a taxi back to the hotel, as I suspect the return shuttle would have been too crowded as well. The young lady at the front desk who checked us in, and helped us change rooms also checked us out. She was lovely, I wish I had written down her name, I believe it was Donnatella, felt very compassionate about our entire experience at the property, and had the front desk manager reduce our bill by 20%. It is inconceivable to me that Marriott allows this property to be listed as part of the Luxury Collection. From a cleanliness standpoint, I have stayed in Courtyards that are cleaner.
