At the Doria Grand Hotel, many guests enjoy the spacious rooms adorned in classic Italian style, though a few point out that updates are needed. The hotel wins points for cleanliness and its prime location near Milan's Central Station, making city exploration a breeze for guests. While the ambiance is often described as a charming blend of elegance and vintage, opinions on service and value vary, with some guests feeling there is room for improvement in staff responsiveness and pricing fairness.

Doria grand hotel
After arriving we were let us into our room an hour early which was great after an early flight. However, there were major works in the room above us which we had not been informed of but our thinking was we’d be out most of the time so it wouldn’t matter. However, on the next morning works started about 7.30am so the noise woke us up. We spoke to front desk about the noise starting early and they said they’d speak to manager, not sure if it made a difference as the next day we were out early.
We were given a room on the tenth floor which we had requested so we got a good view of skyline. The room we nice, wood highly polished but chipped and it was good space for two people. We also
requested a bath and got it however the shower guard needs to be and certain parts of the grouting and sealant could be changed too. Our room was tided daily, towels changed etc. Although soaps were changed unnecessarily.
The wi-fi at times was not strong. The breakfast room was charming, with a ‘hot’ continental breakfast which was good with a variety of pastries, fruits, eggs, bacon, sausages, cakes, hot drinks and juice.
The staff were very friendly, tried to answer our questions with an easy check in and check out.
We noticed only one lift was working which was only annoying during breakfast time.

This is an old and partially renovated hotel. We value it positively, it is well located, a few minutes walk from the central station and with a metro stop 5 minutes away, therefore well connected. Good breakfast, varied.
However, there are two things to improve.
One, the reception, most of the time is empty, the employees are inside and anyone can sneak into the hotel with the lack of security and the risk that this implies. Furthermore, some of the reception employees do not know how to inform the client about aspects of the city and always respond, search on Google, unacceptable!
Two, the breakfast staff is generally good, except for one of the waitresses (dark-haired and with a ponytail) who raises her voice at the first opportunity and treats the customer disrespectfully when you ask her something. I experienced this firsthand and it hurt me because, having just woken up, I felt verbally attacked by a hotel employee who has to learn a lot to become a worthy employee of a four-star hotel.
In short, a good hotel that could be much better by demanding more professionalism from its employees.

We arrived at the hotel before 1:00 am. There was no problem with check-in, but our passports were copied, which I didn't really like. You also had to show a credit card to secure any payments. The room is relatively clean, although its glory days are behind it. In the bathroom, bath towels made of washed, thin terry cloth, small towels made of thin cotton, more like dish cloths. After the first night, the staff took the towels for washing even though they were not placed on the bathtub and not all of them were clean. So we had a problem drying our body after bathing. Bathing cosmetics were not provided, water and tea were forgotten. The fridge was not cooling, after reporting this to the staff, nothing changed and the report remained unanswered. The sheets in the bed should have been changed a long time ago, the duvet was thin, the filling clumped into small piles and in some places we were only covered with a pillowcase.
The hotel's location is good, but the standard is low for a 4* hotel.

Our room was exceptionally clean and each member of the Doria Grand service team went above and beyond to make our stay a delight. The decor is 1930s / 1940s art deco reminiscent of more genteel times during the Jazz era. The breakfast was terrific. Easy to eat healthy with plenty of fruits, salad and eggs but satisfying a sweet tooth was not a problem either. The location is close to the Loreto Metro stop and if you are landing at MPX airport and don’t mind a 10 or 15 minute walk, the central station is fairly close to the hotel (provided you are traveling only with carryon). Bed linens were higher quality than most and are pressed and starched as are the hand towels. Would definitely stay again.

As always... people at work make a difference. Dunque. Someone rude in Reception is always there. But okay. Otherwise everything excellent. The furnishings, the exhibitions of the doors and windows in polished mahogany, the beautiful floor (breakfast room) in black marble 60x60 with veins like Marquinia ... a stroke of refinement !!!! And what a breakfast!!! What else??

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to Metro stops and only 10mins walk from Central Station making it a great base to explore Milan and the surrounding area.
Room was large and clean with a fridge which was handy for cold drinks. Staff were polite and helpful. The safe didn't work in room we were initially given, problem was resolved by quickly moving us to another room on same floor. Wifi worked well.
Would stay here again.

Staff in Reception courteous, at breakfast unfortunately not. The lady on duty has a spoon in my hand very rudely.
I find it absurd that on Thursdays in a 4 star hotel having asked for dinner at the hotel they could not accommodate me and my 9 year old daughter and even cin room service. I had to order with just eat.
The structural needs to be modernized. Although the interiors are beautiful, whenever Upstairs they used water c there were terrible rumors of plumbing and water x all the time. Too bad, but I wouldn't come back.

the structure is well located with ample possibility of using all mobility services of the metropolitan city. The staff at the service of the hotel is welcoming and helpful. The structure needs a modernization of the bathrooms with the replacement of the taps. Domestic water pressure is not constant both as flow and for heat. Detergents should be replaced with dispensers to promote sustainability. Excellent conditioning. Very good breakfast

Check in was swift. We arrived late around 11pm, this was no problem. The hotel looks very elegant in the lobby and the elevator is new.
The room was very cosy and really clean. We could smell the cleanness in the room and sheets, we loved it. The room itself is romantic and by entering the room you can see the attention to detail. The doors, the closet, the table all look very luxurious, old but not worn. Its an old style room, but with modern touches. The bed was also comfortable.

The bathroom looks very nice also, with a bath tub and old style taphandles. The shower pressure was really strong and no problems with temperatures.
The waterdrainage could be a little better in the bathtub, but no real issue (yet)

The breakfast is included and its perfect for the start of your day. While not overly luxurious, you will find all the necessities you can expect at a 4 star hotel. Bread, croissants, many types of meat and cheeses for on bread. Toast, egg, bacon, sausage, cereal, fruit, yoghurt. wide selection of coffee (Douwe Egberts) and tea.
I also liked the pear/kiwi juice from the machine alot.

We did encounter some noise of renovation at 8:30 in the morning. We went out very early, so it did not bother us. But i can imagine other people who sleep longer might have some issues with this. But i find it a good thing that there are renovation underway. It means they try to maintain the hotel in good condition.

sidenote. The waterbottles in the minifridge are not complimentary. We thought it was, but got the bill afterwards. The water from the tap is drinkable.

The location of the hotel is pretty good. In walking distance to the central station, but also a metro stop nearby. There is a supermarket across the street.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend to stay here.
If we visit Milan again, we will probably stay here again.

Sorry for the late answer. The voltage is 220 volts. You can book a shuttle service from the hotel before you travel to Italy.
