This was our first vacation in 3 years for just a week, so you can imagine our hopes and anticipation for this trip and our stay in Milan. Grand Hotel greeted us well; we were even upgraded to a Premium room. That was much appreciated. We loved the room, the amenities, and the location. The first issue - on more than one occasion room service staff tried to enter our room without knocking. Once, I actually had to jump from bed and hold the door so they don't come in. Not acceptable. What earned this hotel a 1-star review is the issue of handling a missing belonging - one of the items went missing from my cosmetic bag in the bathroom. Although I knew where I always kept it, I search entire the room upside down - to no avail. When it was time to pack, I gave it another full swoop around - no success. I reported it to the staff at the front desk. How did they handle it? They didn't. They let me depart without an apology and without resolution; just with the promise that they'll contact me. It's been 2 weeks - I heard nothing back. I don't care about losing a seemingly small item I ended up replacing in the next city on our trip, But I do care about how I felt realizing something going missing from the place where I was supposed to feel safe and taken care of. The fact the hotel didn't bother to follow up after the incident is unforgivable. 5-star service? Think again.…
We were in Milan for 5 day shopping trip. Everything was as stated and perfect. We have stayed for 4 nights. Hotel and room was as stated. Staff was very helpful and hotel was extra clean. We will definitely stay again. Thank you
The hotel lobby and bar exemplified glamour from a bygone era. I had read that Verdi had stayed here many times in 1872. Caruso also was a former guest. We were upgraded to a very spacious suite but was surprised to find rather old furniture. The breakfast buffet was complimentary and offered a great selection. We recommend going to their elegant bar and enjoying unique and delicious cocktails. The hotel was within a few blocks of the high end shops and a few blocks in the other direction of the Duomo. The front desk staff was very personable.
We have stayed at The Grand Hotel et de Milan on our previous trips and it did not disappoint again. The location of the hotel is great, and the staff is helpful and friendly. We received a room upgrade upon arrival. Great overall stay.
For me, Milan is synonym of Grand Hotel et de Milan. Every time I go there I have the same magical experience. It’s a real pleasure to be in such place full of history. The staff is amazing and very attentive. The rooms division manager Stefano and the hotel concierge Tarik are very responsive and truly professional. They helped to make our stay more special and enjoyable.
Outstanding service and location. Gaya at the front desk is truly the best Rooms outstanding, Breakfast with many selections and spectacular as always location, unbeatable One of the best hotels in central Milan, next to the shopping and the Duomo and the Scala
Beautiful location in the heart of the historic part of Milan. Perfect for shopping and city tours or visit in the scala. Nice staff, very professional and correct. Good restaurants and breakfast. In the hotel and outside you find a lot of traces of the old history, the good old times. . . .
The management was very kind when we had last minute travel change. When we had a hard time with expedia getting a refund for a cancellation, the hotel offered us free nights just to be nice and help out!
I’ve stayed here multiple times in the last three months so now have a feel for it. The location is excellent in the shopping and historic district, although parking is impossible. My rooms have been junior suites and although large, very old in style with various bits of mismatched furniture and tired decor. My biggest issue, though, is service. Room service doesn’t answer. Try reception. Same thing. Operator. Same again. Finally someone turns up and tells you they were alone, and this isn’t their job anyway. In a Leading Hotel of the World? The receptionist chased me outside early one morning as I was getting into a taxi to say I hadn’t paid. I’d actually paid up front, including my next two stays, and also given my credit card. On my first stay there was a line at check in as only one lady was manning the front desk whilst her colleagues chatted behind. I’m sure they mean well but this hotel needs proper management to justify its prices and reputation. Right now it’s just slowly fading into mediocrity, which is a shame.…
This hotel delivers a true Grand Hotel Experience: For us, these means, first of all, the staff: Always attentive, professional, polite. Little problems are taken care of immediately, concierge is knowledgeable, precise and reliable, the teams in the beautiful bar and the cosy restaurant are decent, flexible, friendly and creative. This is a Hotel with a lot of history, so do not expect huge rooms like in the States or in some hotels in the outskirts of Milano. You are right in the center, you can walk everywhere, so if you can enjoy this kind of setting (with a slightly "Budapest-Hotel"--feeling), this is THE place to be. Definitely our choice for all our future Milano-stays!
