Stayed there late July 2022 and the hotel is lovely! Truly a 5 star hotel! The location is not in central but close and easy access with the tram just by the hotel. The swimming pool is really nice but smaller than it looks in the photos. The staff are super nice!

Really great stay. Hotel is very clean, quiet, and staff extremely helpful. The rooftop pool is so great to come back to after a day of shopping in the heat and humidity. The cocktails were fantastic. We had no problem getting Ubers to the areas we wanted to go to, but there is a tram in front of the hotel if you desire mass transit.

The fitness gym was small, but again quite well appointed, clean and had everything I needed for a good workout.

The only criticism I had which was not worth addressing was the rain water shower head could not be turned to a warm/cool temperature. The coldest setting was still too warm to get underneath (and I like a warm shower). The handheld shower attachment was easy to regulate temperature, so it wasn’t a huge deal. That said, after sweating your pants off it would’ve been nice to have cool water in the rain head feature.

I highly recommend this hotel and would stay ere again!

This was our first time in Milan and we weren't too sure what to expect but we were happily surprised how great the hotel was. Every staff member that we interacted with were lovely, friendly and happy to go out of their way to help us, from the check in desk, to the cleaners to the bar/pool tenders upstairs, they were all happy to go above and beyond to cater to our needs. Everywhere is very clean and especially through the covid situation the hotel dealt with it very well, everyone wore masks and there was plenty of hand sanitizer. Good location to the centre, and probably around 30mins to the airport. Everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Short stay here in August and I really enjoyed. Every aspect of the stay was excellent, from check-in to check-out, and all members of staff I interacted with were really helpful and friendly. It’s not cheap to eat/drink here but plenty of local options within walking distance. The hotel also links in to a local taxi service which is really quick and relatively cheap so easy to get into the city centre, which is around a 30 minute walk away.
In conclusion, I’d more than happy to return here and would absolutely recommend. Thanks to all.

I would have given a higher review, as the lounge area and room decor are nice.. but this hotel fails in the basic reason why people go to a hotel: a quiet place to sleep.

The hotel is near a streetcar station, and the roads next to the hotel have very, very loud streetcars passing every 20 to 50 seconds, throughout the night. I know this because after hours of the incredibly loud (much louder than any hotel room I've ever been in) noise keeping me up, I started counting the seconds between the streetcars (which take 10 full noisy seconds to pass, and sound like a train passing by outside your window). I got exactly zero sleep, and today I'm so tired that I actually feel achy. They should've soundproofed better when building the hotel. I used a decibel meter on my mobile and the sound was in the 30s and 40s decibels, from the bed with windows shut.

I had specifically asked for a quiet room, but I guess all the rooms are incredibly loud. The location of this hotel, being near the street train station, is terrible.

The manager, Lucas, was not only unsympathetic and patronizing but the jist of what he told me it's that they did me a favor by giving me an upgrade (they didn't, it was guaranteed in my booking, and despite that I still had to ask for it) so I should be happy with that and not complain. He flat out refused any token of compensation in any form, and didn't seem to care how I felt about the hotel. Nice.

So we packed up and switched rooms, and as an extra treat from the manager, the new room was a downgrade. 😤

As side note about the restaurant: if they tell you they need to substitute something in a dish, expect the price to go up (for us, to went from €35 to €50, not a big deal but they should have mentioned it).

Room Tip: Make sure you're on a high floor on the side facing away from the streetcars to minimize noise.

Horrible management, poor services, pool design lacking!

We arrived via a bon voy Marriott membership booking and were informed that our $400 room isn’t sufficient for two small kids. That we had to add another room. Ugh. We had just lost $800 worth of tickets at the airport due to a documentation error (not our fault). However we planned to go to another hotel, management decided to give us an added room for a discount. Still overpriced but ok.
Get to room. No drinking water. Coffee maker is for higher grade rooms. Shower clogged.
When asking for some remediation was told I would be black listed from hotel. Bizarre.
Go to enjoy pool and it’s surrounded by breakfast guests- my kids felt awkward trying to enjoy it so preferred not to swim (weird design- not suited for enjoyment, just trendy lounging).

Worst of it was the manager had the gall to come berate me at the Pool for my “unfair” requests for a working shower and drinking water and said our room was basically free $550?!) and we just be grateful for it.
Snobbery Ill-fitting a 5 star establishment.

All in all, a bizarre experience I’ve never encountered after dozens of Ritz, Oberois and the like.

More like a trashy 4 star with attitude.

Hotel VIU milan is a very sweet hotel located in the chinatown area of milan.

Overview——
The entrance is very picturesque and it is only about 15 minutes brisk walk to the duomo. The amenities are nice. They have a spa a decently equipped gym and rooftop bar. I visited in March 2023 and was sad to see that the pool on the rooftop was not heated and definitely too cold to take a dip in. As well as the nighttime parties usually depicted on the sites web are a thought of fiction.

The bedroom is very clean and nice , with the bathroom being even nicer. They provide you with a nice selection of late night snacks at the minibar but beware they will cost you quite a lot.

The staff is the best part , they were very attentive and kind , though we did have issues checking in due to Italian laws , but that was not their fault. Also the restaurant they recommended us for ravioli and pizza was to say the least a bad recommendation. Maybe if we were trying to go cheap on food then yes, but still i would have much rather enjoyed a different spot.

Anywho the rooftop bar closes at 11 which is a shame, but the downstairs lounge bar is open till 1 where I must give prompts to the bar man for making a astonishing espresso martini 😌.

The breakfast was also a bit of a let down. I would have appreciated some more variety or maybe something traditionally Italian. However i will say that the alpine yogurt with honey that they provide is absolutely delicious. In the pictures I have the truffle eggs and I tried the pancakes as well which we’re average

Otherwise than that the sauna is average and the lobby as well is nothing to gawk at. It is without a doubt a nice hotel, but for their prestige and the price I would have expected a bit more from them .

It’s the little things that make or break a vacation. At Hotel VIU Milan, Savo, the Guest Relations Manager, is their key to success. He is one of the best in the business!!! He gets 5 stars! He went all out to make my stay PERFECT including having cake, fruit, and a welcome bottle of wine in my extremely spacious suite (to celebrate my birthday)! I can not say enough good things about him! If you select this hotel, email him in advance any special requests. He will make it happen!

I was not able to check in early but all of the staff were professional and helpful and encouraged me to relax at the rooftop bar and pool (a nice addition forca city hotel). The hotel is not conveniently located to the Duomo (which I think is the “heart” of a short term stay) but the electric tram is fun to take (and safe at night). The pick up is literally right outside the door. I enjoyed the outdoor garden setting of the main restaurant and the food was delicious. Beware of mosquitoes, however. Bug spray was provided.

The room was a bit too modern and contemporary for my tastes (I prefer old world Italian) but the size was impressive for an Italian hotel. There really aren’t any “views” due to the location but I highly recommend walking to the impressive cemetery ( Cimitero Monumentale di Milano) near by. Well worth the trip.

Overall, I recommend the hotel but the real GEM is Savo!!! He will make your stay one of the best you have on your vacation!

I love the spa. I was there on my own, enjoy every second. The hotel was very nice, near the chinatown, where foods are widely available. Walking distance to the nearest tram stop. Very nice hotel, modern, clean, and very friendly staff. Do not dine at the restaurant downstair, it has a very cocky lady manager, also the price is too expensive.

Unfortunately, if you stay here expecting a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed. (A 4 star designation might be more appropriate.) Overall, there is not enough value here for the money you spend.

PROS: Clean and attractive design throughout. Comfortable beds & linens & nice shower. Friendly staff (in particular, the doormen, Francesca at reception and Joseph upstairs on the terrace). They also allow dogs (for an 80 euro fee) and will provide a high quality toy, bed and food for your pup.

CONS: The biggest disappointment was the food. Although we did not try their fine dining restaurant, we had food and/or drinks everywhere else. The bartender downstairs didn't appear to know how to make a Hugo spritz (and it tasted like it). Another (single) cocktail upstairs cost 20 euros. We know it's Milan and a swanky place so we'll pay 20 euros for a single cocktail if we really have to, but for that price it should be amazing and ours was not. Likewise, we are still laughing about our "two" orders of (two) bite-size tacos upstairs, given their low quality, tiny size and high price (we ordered them without the meat and were still charged full price).

Regarding the room, the bathroom doors leave a lot to be desired in terms of privacy. There were also some minor housekeeping issues, along with several items that appeared to be missing from the room (like the mini bar price list, the in-room spa services menu and the pet menu advertised with our booking). We didn't bother mentioning those things to reception since our stay was brief, but it collectively subtracts from the "5 star" experience you otherwise go into this expecting.

Finally, the location of the hotel may not be for everyone.

Dear CATravelBuff, many thanks for letting us know your precious thoughts. While the PROS are so nice to hear and proudly accepted, I'm deeply sorry for the CONS. Generally, we are very well considered regarding our food offering and cooking as well as the drinks served, it is a pity they did not match your personal taste. We took note of the "missing items", and thank you for that. We do try to evolve and improve, even through experiences like this. Thank you, and hopefully we'll have the chance to welcome you again. Kind regards. Savo, Guest Relations

Hello there JM, yes there is a stop not far away from the hotel. In Milan you have three different Hop-on/off lines and some routes passes just nearby.
