We came on a rainy day when the river was hidden by fog. The restaurant was fantastic - I wish we had been able to enjoy the sunsets everyone saw. We were warned that our room, in the older section of the inn over the restaurant, might be noisy, but we didn't experience that at all. Rooms are a bit... More

Auberge sur Mer is an old three-story wooden building with a two floor motel adjoining it. The third floor rooms in the main building are tiny, cramped, with no space to put luggage down other than the floor. There was no decent reading light, but there was a twelve-inch television. The "beach" is rocky/pebbly and the water cold so plan... More

I am very familiar and fond of that area. My family tree brings me to the lower St-Lawrence at least every 5 years or so. I love Notre-Dame-du-Portage for it's view of the river as well as it's history. I usually only stay 1 night as we are driving through the area but this time I made it our destination.... More

My room on the main floor had a beautiful view of the water. The room smelled and felt damp. I was lucky that the guests were quiet (mostly old folks) but when they got up at 4am to take their showers, you could hear everything. I have to say that the food at the restaurant was UNBELIEVABLE. I had a... More

To put this in context: the only reason we stay here is because we've got family nearby - it's super-convenient, but that's about it. Last year, we stayed in the motel - pretty crap. This year, we stayed in the inn itself. The room was just about clean, but so scruffy, and so outdated, that we spent most of the... More

This is a great place to stay. We found it a challenge to find it, as our 'Garmin' wanted us to use someone's driveway to get between the main street of Notre Dame du Portage down to the road along the seaway, but once we were there we were very happy.

My family and I ate dinner at the Aubergesur Mer's restaurant and it was phenomenal! We each took the 3-course table d'hôte and it was just perfect. I had a soup, then the filet mignon and for dessert, since we had difficulty choosing what we wanted, we all ordered a different dessert and shared them. They even plated them together... More

We have stayed here four or five times now, over the past few years. After a long day of driving, this place is so idyllic. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the motel rooms have a view of the river that is beautiful and peaceful. The meals are absolutely wonderful--creative, fresh and delicious--and the staff in both the hotel... More

I dislike big, impersonal hotels, so this wee spot, approximately 10 kms from all that, situated right on the Fleuve St. Laurent, the perfect alternative. The rooms within the Auberge seem more updated than the motel part of this place. The food is elegantly presented and well-prepared, the atmosphere is welcoming and charming and the views are spectacular. The staff... More

Peaceful and quaint location in a small quiet village. Service is outstanding and we loved it so much- we extended our stay! This is an old building that had been properly maintained and well kept but it is an old building! Squeaks and creaks are normal! Enjoy the peace and quiet here.
