    Nice Hotel, Poor Management
Me, my wife, and my 9 month old son visited this hotel last month right after they re-opened from being closed due to the COVID pandemic. It is a beautiful property with friendly staff. The pool area is beautiful the breakfast/lounge area is updated and modern. The breakfast was good (though the service was slow and disorganized). The staff were friendly and willing to help when needed and it is in a good location being that it is within walking distance to Cernobbio and the port where you can catch the ferry. There is also a local grocery store nearby which is nice. Our trip started to go south on the last night when we came back to the room after a long day and as we went to put our son to bed, we realized there were ants everywhere including my sons crib. We thought this was odd because though we did have food in the room (in the fridge) we were on the 5th floor. We called the front desk and asked to be moved and they resolved the issue by moving us that night to another room however, even that wasn’t done very well because only one person was sent to help us move and I basically had to tell him what to do or he would just stand there. Finally, when we did move everything over I spoke to the employee at the front desk who asked us if everything is okay and she also assured us that there would be something done for our troubles and we should talk to the manager in the morning. So the next day as we were leaving, we asked to speak to the manager. When he came out he walked up to us stood there with his arms crossed and made me explain the entire situation to him. After that he asked me what I would like him to do. As if I need to be the one to remedy the situation. After awkwardly staring at each other for a few seconds, he began to look at me and said, “I don’t know what to say. It was probably the food.” He was trying to blame us for having food in our room when they have a fridge, the ants were nowhere near our food, we were on the fifth floor, and I guess that means you cannot have food in your room at this hotel because you might get ants. He also insinuated that we were trying to take advantage of the situation by asking for compensation when they already addressed the problem. When the only reason we asked for anything was because of what his employee said. Then after several awkward seconds he started talking to his front desk employee about our stay and our bill and then he offered 15 euros off our bill. Then we asked about points and he said he could do points or money. It was such an awkward experience. I have never been made to feel that I was trying to take advantage of a situation for expecting good customer service. This manager doesn’t deserve to run this hotel because he clearly doesn’t know how to treat his guests.
Dear Matthew B, Thank you for sharing your experience at the Sheraton Lake Como Hotel through TripAdvisor. Very glad to hear you, your wife and your baby son had a pleasant stay enjoying the pool area and the park and that appreciated the kindness and friendliness of our staff. On the contrary we are very sorry for the inconvenience experienced in your room on the last night. We do apologize for that. We are also very sorry to read our General Manager didn’t meet your expectations. We hope you acknowledge our good will gesture, charging points on your Marriott Bonvoy account, trusting you’ll redeem them in another Marriott hotel. Thank you again for your time and valued comments. Sincerely,

Old fashioned hotel by Lake Hotel
Check-in was a bit messy as the staff were over-worked and kept on leaving us to focus on other tasks and then coming back, although it did'nt take that more than 15 minutes until we received our room key. We also were not given the room that we booked and paid for which was disappointing but they did'nt explain why. Rooms are definitely not suited towards business travellers. You can't connect many of your plugs into the socket inside the desks, as the space is restricted and accessed by lifting a wooden flap. This is a terribly old and short-sighted design. Best thing about the hotel, is the boat ride into 'Como town centre' which costs EUR 1.30, it's fun and extremely scenic, bring your camera. It's about 4km to walk into town. It costs about ~12 Euros to take the taxi. Book the hotel online to gain the Marriott Bonvoy points, as I made the mistake to book via an online hotel portal and lost the chance to gain any. Breakfast was reasonable although quite limited for a Sheraton and we would of expected a greater choice of cuisine to select from. The music in the corridors is played very loudly and can be heard from within the room. This is unnecessary, why can't folks enjoy some peace and quiet ? We're already planning a 2nd trip to Lake Como but based upon this simple oversight with the lack of accessibility to the electrical socket, it's unlikely that we'd stay in this hotel again until they modernise it and stop piping loud music into the corridors, keeping us awake at night!
Dear diamOnd_traveller, thank you firstly for choosing the Sheraton Lake Como for your recent stay in Lake Como. Since guests satisfaction is our main focus, we sincerely apologize for having failed in meeting your expectations. As a critical way to understand how to meliorate our service, we have already shared your comments within the organization, especially with the Front Desk and Maintenance staff. Thank you again for your time and valued feedback and for your preference during this very difficult time for all the hospitality industry and tourism in Italy. Sincerely, Chiara De Santis Sheraton Lake Como Hotel

    A truly memorable holiday
We’ve just returned from a five-night stay at the Sheraton. It’s a lovely hotel, much like the 4 star chains back home, but it’s not without its flaws. The grounds and views are just perfect, the garden restaurant is a must for dinner and lunches too. The food there is very good, priced as you would expect and service excellent. Credit especially should go to Matteo who looked after us really well. We were disappointed it was closed two consecutive evenings for a corporate affair but that’s a risk we take staying at a business hotel. Staying with the grounds, we come to our first big disappointment. I use a wheelchair and the pool is near non-accessible, surrounded by a hedge on three sides and steps up and then down to reach the pool at the far end. A plea to the management, please consider your less mobile guests, because you’ve made no effort whatsoever to include them. It looks like you’ve deliberately roped off gaps in the hedge while it grows, when it would be so much kinder if you at least left an opening at the opposite end by the pathway. Failing that, ramps would help. On a more positive note, the hotel’s buffet breakfast is excellent, served in a very spacious restaurant upstairs. Our second issue is with the reception staff. They’re friendly but not at all knowledgable or helpful when it came to making arrangements for a train trip to Milan, a bus to Como, even supplying a local map. Hotel Reception desks are often the best places to find out where local attractions are and how to get there. Not so here sadly. I’m afraid the stock answer from the Sheraton seems to be to take a taxi, echoed by a fellow guest we got to know there. We did our own research from our room on the internet. The room itself was pretty much perfect, always clean and tidy , freshly re-stocked with tea/coffee, toiletries etc after we returned from a day out. The location worked well for us. It’s just 10 minutes walk to the ferry which run frequently up and down the lake. Alternatively a 45 minute walk allowed us to take in the spectacular views as we hugged the lake en route to Como. Taxis aren’t expensive at all. It wasn’t perfect but I know we’ll look back in time and reflect more on the positives, the spectacular views, the spacious grounds, excellent breakfast, dinners in the garden. We had a fantastic time. And do explore Como itself, it has more to offer than we first realised.
Dear Mr. Kelv, Thank you so much for taking time to share such in detail your Sheraton Lake Como experience here on Tripadvisor. We are delighted to see that you enjoyed every facets of your holiday, from our F&B offerings and culinary experience in our restaurants / breakfast area to your spacious room completed with comfortable bed and amenities. We took note of your comment regarding accessibility - I have already personally address it to our owner to ensure we find a solution it as soon as possible. Once again thank you for sharing all your comments. We look forward to get the chance of welcoming you back again at the resort for another memorable and relaxing experience, in our beautiful destination in not too distant future! My family and I had a great stay here on holiday. The pool, private playground, and helpful staff were our favorite parts of our stay here. The only issue we had (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) was with the parking garage. We booked 2 rooms but only one of them was assigned to work with the parking garage entry/exit. Even with the working key, we had issues getting in/out. Upon checkout, we were double-charged for parking which he highlighted and the staff immediately fixed.

Lake Como Sheraton Dates stayed: August 2-4 Marriott status: Lifetime Titanium Elite To be clear, my rating was low due to the value of the hotel. We selected this hotel because I am brand loyal to Marriott and it was the only Marriott hotel in the area. Also to be fair, nothing bad happened during our stay. However we cashed in 129,000 point for two nights (supposedly they were charging $700+ per night). This hotel is blocks away from the lake, their rather small pool is not connected to the hotel, and our “upgraded” room over looked the hotel plant nursery with mounds of dug up earth. The restaurant was understaffed for breakfast but the food was good. Finally getting a taxi is a challenge here as it took on average 25-30 minutes after they called them to show up. Again, if this was a $200 per night hotel and a 60,000 point stay for two nights I would have rated our stay as a 4 out of 5. The staff was friendly but they don’t have much to work with. If we ever go back to Lake Como I will select a hotel on the water.

Dear Geust, Thank you for choosing to stay at our property and for sharing your experience on this portal.I am truly sorry to hear we have not been able to meet your expectations compare to the points needed to book our hotel. We put all our genuine efforts in serving our guests, and I am very pleased you noticed the friendliness of the staff. Regarding the staffing level of the breakfast, we try to always have the best balance, I apologize if you experienced otherwise. I get your comments on the location of the property, however I can assure you that our 196 sq.mt. pool and 56 sq.mt. jacuzzi are the biggest you can find in this area, in any hotel category. Once again, I thank you for your loyalty and I anyway hope to have another occasion in the future to welcome you back to Lake Como. Best regards.

Sheraton Lake Como provided a relaxing, idyllic escape at Lake Como. No, it's technically not *on* the lake, but it's right across the street from the lake, with easy access to the ferry dock, and a scene walkway that wraps around the lake into downtown Como. The pool area is beautiful and both the pool bar and the first floor lounge deliver excellent drinks that add to your holiday mindset. The staff was friendly and the room was nice - it even came with a beach bag with flip-flips for the pool. Hopefully I'll visit Lake Como again in the future, and if I do, I would stay here again!

Stayed here for 2 nights, the hotel itself is quite nice. The rooms are spacious, the shower have good water pressure. My sister bathroom though did flood, it looked like it was recently renovated and may need some tweaking. The amenities are quite nice also, love the lotion they provide. The pool area is pretty and well set out only down fall is the natural grass, it rained the day before so going to the pool was muddy and lost of mosquitoes everywhere which wasn’t pleasant. The bar serves some nice cocktails though be prepared to pay around $15-20 euro each burger $20 euro. It did rain on us and there wasn’t anything to do, TV didnt even have cable or access to online streaming channels. Breakfast was also great, the eggs station allowed for your eggs to be cooked as you liked. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Pretty grounds and hotel. Comfortable room. Yet our friends shower flooded their bathroom, ours didn’t have shampoo and took 2 calls to get some. Location is not great unless you plan on driving everywhere. The ferry pier by the hotel doesn’t go anywhere and you have to go to Como town which is 10-15 car ride away. Town is ok but not great. Can will cost you $25-30 to get there and most times you can’t get a cab. There is no Uber. There is a bus, found the hard waywhen we had no way to get back to the hotel…unless you do not intend to use the ferry system and want a relaxing stay in the area this is not a good starting point for visiting Bellagio, Varenna, etc using the ferries.

Dear Guest, thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your experience with other people. I am very pleased you have appreciated our property, giving some precious feed-back. Of course, the town and the transportation are outside my area of control, may I only say that the boats that stop at the pier in front of our hotel connect the entire Lake Como and the fast ferry line can be reached using the boat to Como in just 6-8 minutes. I truly hope to have anyway another occasion to welcome you back in the future! Warm regards.

The hotel hosts weddings an d some of these guests can be very rowdy or drunk which spoils the peaceful par/pool area for the other guests. note that some of the hotel's services can be reserved for the wedding guests e.g. parking spaces in the underground car park leaving other guests to find a place in the street.Part of the park/pool area may be cordoned off for the wedding. this is not fair or honest for the other hotel guests who are paying 4*prices but do not have access to all the facilities during the wedding. Whilst the staff does its best to look after non-wedding guests, they are more on the sidelines and the wedding group takes over the facilities

The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the food. The poolside menu was very good every day and their homemade gelato more-ish. The cleaning staff are friendly and helpful. Management not so much. We were very lucky to find a car parking space in the hotel garage but coming back late last night after midnight all but one of the bays were reserved for special guests! I questioned the front desk about where parking was for the rest of the guest and he replied “down the road”. So guests be aware. Hammering and drilling began above us at 8am with no warning from management that building works were occurring at the property. We called the front desk and requested that the noise stop for at least and hour. We got 35 minutes! I am a Marriott /Bonvoy member and this is simply not a hotel I will return to in future.

Yes, it doesn’t have a Lake view, yes the approach to the entrance is not inspiring and its opposite a supermarket, and, yes, its a modern building. However, its bright and spacious, the rooms are perfectly good and the breakfast is excellent. Close to Como which is accessible by boat, it ticks many boxes. Finally, the pool area really does look like the picture.
