Unpretentious. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. In town close to train station and beach. Quiet at night. On the doorstep of the unmissable Friday market. Can we say more?? If staying in Ventimiglia....have no hesitation in booking into this hotel.

My impression of this hotel is that apart from the central location in between the coast-line (not the sandy beach) and the city centre with its shops, the hotel is overpriced. We have payed for a last-minute booking a 85 euro fee, thats in my opinion even in the summer period for a place like Ventimiglia a bit expensive. The...

Dear Sohail, thanks for having spent time to review Hotel Calypso. I clearly remember your arrival when I kindly welcomed you in Ventimiglia and introduced you our pretty town. You booked a double room with a Last Minute offer, paying 85.00 € instead of 110.00 €. This is the best, cheapest price you could have found in Ventimiglia and that's...

Lovely little hotel. I'd have to say the best communication ever. Is message and get a reply immediately. Family run and very quaint. Make sure if booking through online you ask for air conditioning if you travel in the summer. I misunderstood. We managed by opening the window and blessed with a breeze. It's small and family run. They care...

I personally really thank you for your lovely words you had time to spend about us. I'm pleased to see you did appreciate my effort to offer you the best stay I could, even after you realised you booked an Economy room without air-conditioner. It'd be a real pleasure to have the chance to welcome you again, this time offering...

Stayed here last month while on a walking holiday. The room was fine, with a balcony. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The small bar at reception was very reasonably priced. There was a large, varied spread at breakfast. A clean, smart hotel where the staff really try. We would definetely recommend staying here.

Close to both the train station and the water front, surrounded by wonderful Italian restaurants this clean and cosy hotel provides free wifi and a good selection for breakfast. Some rooms have their own shower but share toilet otherwise you share both. For the price I'll be back.

Dear Michael, we sincerely thank you for your warm review. We'd also like to remember, as you said, that almost every room has its private bathroom with shower or bath and just a few got a shared toilet, the ones we define "Economy". Thanks you so much and hope to welcome you really soon, HC

I put this question as the title, because, apart from the lack of elevator (though not serious, since the hotel has only three floors), I haven't found any flaw or limit, in my three-night stay (80 Euros a night for the double room with breakfast). Our room was quite large and well maintained (as well as the common areas and...

Thank you so much for your nice review. To answer your question, the number of stars given to a hotel depend on the services it can provide to the customers; one of this, as you said, it's the elevator which is almost impossible to get cause of the late 50's building where Calypso was born. However, our family kept trying...

A few steps from the trainstation and the beach, right in the middle of the new town and only a few minutes walking to the old town. Spotless bathroom and room with balcony and streetview for 90 euro, breakfast included. Continental breakfast was ok. Staff ok. This certainly is a hotel I would recommend!!!

My husband, daughter and I were visiting the French Riviera and decided it would be fun to go to Italy for the night. “Want to go to Monaco with no hassles, stay at this hotel and take the train into Monaco, it is about 20 mins by train and costs 12 Euro for a couple. Hassle free, no parking problems and the station is in the centre of Monaco, you can walk to everything like we did or you can take a hop on hop or a tourist train. Makes the day stress free and a joy. You can do the same with Nice which is a nightmare to negotiate by car!!”
