We have stayed at this hotel for many years Just the beast Hotel around for food is superb the staff so helpful and kind wanting to stay there again in Jun on or way down to Florence and having travelled from UK
We make a stopover every year in Rapallo on our way to Tuscany and Hotel Europa is for us by far the best hotel to stay at. The service is friendly and efficient. The hotel director is present when we arrive and when we leave and this really makes us feel welcome every time. The possibility to have a parking place in the garage of the hotel is very important in Rapallo where finding parking space in town is a real challenge. The location is convenient , one minute from the sea and 2 minutes walking from the centre of Rapallo.
We chose this hotel for its location (stayed for one night), which is good. They have an underground parking (convenient. but extra pay). The room was good, but air-conditioning was noisy and some electrical fittings were loose- not to be expected at this level of hotel. Breakfast was OK.
I spent here four days with my family and our stay was very nice. We had breakfast included in the room rate and we definitely appreciated it. In order to follow the COVID-19 rules, we had to choose our breakfast the night before and in the morning we were served at our table (amazing service and great food). The room was quite big, very clean and tidy. The staff was very helpful, but I would recommend to the receptionists to be a bit more friendly. There is a parking space for the hotel, but you have to pay for it and to be honest the fare is quite high! I think the location of the hotel is the best aspect. It’s just in front of the sea, and if you cross the road you’ll be walking next to the castle of Rapallo.
Booked this hotel for the parking (parking in Italian Cities is always a nightmare), on arrival at hotel informed no parking, cancelled stay, THEY KEPT MY MONEY. EVEN THOUGH they promised that they wouldn’t! (have it in writing!) Have subsequently sent many emails to lastminute.com and this excuse for a hotel requesting refund, NO REPLY. However, maybe we “dodged a bullet”, the Covid rate in Rapallo currently doesn’t look that good, there was a huge coach parked outside the hotel, coaches, their passengers and covid are a “marriage made in heaven!”. Add to that the beach towels drying on the balconies (classy) and some of the comments listed by other guests on this site (I paid thus I must have been a guest) about the condition and cleanliness of the rooms I think it was better that we stayed elsewhere. Final point - how could there not have been any parking if they had a bus full of clients staying? WHAT PARKING!!! Also never using lastminute.com again…
The lady and the man at the front desk were very friendly when we arrived. The hotel has an underground garage where we could park. The reception, bar, restaurant give me the impression they are recently refurbished. The rooms however are a bit outdated. Especially the bath room needs an urgent make-over (traces of mold on the edges of the bath which is not pleasant to see) The hotel itself has a very good situation (almost immediately on the lungomare) and the very nice shopping street is around the corner. We had dinner on the hotel terrace. Food was good and service was very friendly. All by all it is certainly not a bad hotel, but rooms and bath rooms need a make over. In my opinion 4 stars is overrated. 3 stars would be correct.
Nice place, COVID compliant. Centre of town , walking distance to beach, shops and places to eat and train station. Car parking available, but not always at the hotel. First come first serve. Friendly service, rooms modern, Wifi worked. No hot breakfast served, only continental. English no issue. Recommended.
The hotel must have suffered a lot from covid and some problems with the service which was not very friendly nor helpful could be better and less condescending - however I don’t believe the old look and the very bad state of most of the property can be excused by the covid. Hotel is old, does not smell very well and is super expensive. We’ll pass next time
Lovely hotel in a beautiful town. Very clean in all areas, old fashioned styled rooms. Staff were very polite and friendly especially Sorin, nothing seemed to be to much trouble. Very close to the main town and the scenic promenade. If going in a group although the food was excellent we were given a set menu.
To start with I pretty much agree with previous reviews of this hotel. The negative points are that it is definitely a little 'tired' and the rooms would benefit from some TLC. Having said that there is also something rather nostalgic about the hotel; it reminds me of a faded glory and is quite charming. Our standard room was large with a huge comfortable bed and a side view of the sea. The door to the en-suite creaked rather loudly, which made night-time visits a bit noisy, and the shower was pretty poor, with very low pressure, and situated in a whirlpool bath (not tried) which meant the base was sculptured to sit in so a bit awkward to stand in. There endeth the negative lesson. We had booked this through Secret Escapes and had half-board. The food was wonderful, to put it mildly. The deal gave us a welcome drink, which turned out to be a glass of prosecco at dinner, but we got it at every dinner! Also the 2-course meal advertised was in fact 3-courses, plus garlic pizza bread to nibble on with the prosecco. Wonderful pasta, fabulous meat dishes, great fish, including sea bass baked in salt one night, and superb desserts – the tiramisu was sublime! And breakfast was wonderful, including, as one reviewer has mentioned, the foccacia bread. And the carafe of house wine very nice indeed, and reasonably priced. The staff also make this hotel a real delight to stay in, especially our waiter Daniel, who was always cheerful, friendly and a really great waiter. The reception staff were very helpful and we managed to park outside the hotel in their marked space. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. The hotel is literally 2 minutes from the harbour, and 5 min from the train station. There's an excellent supermarket about 3 min away which catered for everything we needed.…
