Upon arrival the reception staffs were so great, the room we have this time is an ocean view compared to what we had last September 2018. This is our second time stay here and it was recommended by my family here in Rapallo. All the staff from breakfast room, the bar, the pool and spa staff and room service staff are all rendering high standard service that makes people come back. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone! See you next year.

Hotel's Favorite
I came here on a mother-daughter trip where we visited the hair salon. They did an excellent job with balayage and highlights, giving my hair dimension and a sun-kissed glow. All the employees were friendly and knew at least two languages, so it was easy to communicate.

Myself and my husband had the most wonderful 3 night stay from the second we arrived the door staff are so helpful and welcoming. Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff in reception which had upgraded our room to sea veiw with a balcony with amazing views of the coast. The reception/lobby area is beautifully decorated with antique furniture and beautiful displays of art, this is also the same throughout the hotel. We were then brought to our room it was was bright and spacious large balcony lots of toiletries, complementary water still/sparkling which were topped up everyday. We received a welcome gift which was a really lovely touch also at night we received another little gift of biscuits. Dressing gowns were supplied they we soft and comfortable. Beds were large and very comfortable. Television with access to english speaking channels. We had lunch in the hotel one day It is a little pricey but you pay for food aswell as service and it was 5 star the waiting staff in the hotel can not do enough for you. Breakfast was nice there was always something to have great selection of fresh warm pastries which we really enjoyed. We had our breakfast as room service one morning it was brought in and set up on our balcony it was was good and warm when we sat to eat only thing was boiled eggs were very Watery but maybe this Is how they are done in Italy wasn't really an issue maybe just personal preference I guess. If you are going to have breakfast on your balcony be careful of the seagulls !! They are quick. We enjoyed the pool area the walk down through the bridge is nice the decor is fab. We were greeted straight away by lifeguard with our towels it has infinity pool and two hot tubs with views like a postcard. The beach club bar was nice staff were very attentive brought us our drinks and snacks cocktails were really good. Pool area is kept well. There is renovations currently in indoor pool and sea area but hopefully we will get to enjoy that area again. Staff work really hard to make your experience enjoyable. Lobby/door staff are extremely helpful right up until our departures offering umbrellas opening doors can't thank them enough. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was clean. Decor made the hotel feel very dated. Views from the room are lovely (we were in an exclusive room), just made you feel like you were at a normal beach condo, not like you were in the Italian Rivera and in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was decent. Great walking distance to local restaurants and scenic views.

It is a shame as we would have loved to listen your suggestions and find toghether a solution. The Excelsior, as shown in many pictures, is a symbol of classic style, reinforced by our forniture that are original antiques, carefully chosen worldwide. In these last years, many projects have been realized, the latest has been the new facade. Many others are on the way and will be revealed very soon! That is why it's difficult to understand how our efforts may result in a comparison with a beach condo (actually, we are considered as an historcal palace). Our first visit to the Portofino coast what can we say but Wow! The Excelsior palace Hotel Portofino coast is the best. The staff absolutely exemplary. The Spa treatments amazing. I just fell in love with this hotel! In the heart of Portofino coast , just 10 minutes away from the center of Portofino by Bus. The beach club and the pools have a stunning view. Staff is so friendly , always free to help. Breakfast is five stars, just the perfect beginning for a day that you will never forget. I’ll comeback soon for sure.

What a great weekend. The Excelsior Palace is an excellent hotel. From the staff to the facilities. Luxury hotel with good room and big balcony with sea view. Bus stop in front of the hotel and you are in the center of Portofino in 10/15 minutes. Breakfast is 5 stars with an amazing view for Rapallo. I will come back soon, for sure.

I nice hotel with polite and helpful staff. This is a smart hotel that has been around for a long time. Decent t sized rooms, good location nice bar area and restaurant. My only criticism is one that’s common for this neighbourhood. Basically there is no beach just a swimming area over the rocks on the side of the road. Otherwise. We had a good time and would visit again quite happily.

Pros begin with a great view, nice pools, beautiful sea to swim in and well prepared and delicious food. The salted, crusted baked sea breeze was perfect. Prices in spa are reasonable and staff good but overwhelmed. Cons very expensive hotel and no free water for the guest room? Staff cordial but rigid as most corporate hotels. TV system not very English friendly, and our went out both nights with wifi issues. When you pay all the money, you expect all the service.

I cannot recommend this hotel Stains around our en-suite from previous guests was disgusting. The bath/shower tiles had dark mouldy staining. The bedroom floors were always dirty. Childress chicken was served raw on the inside. Wine glasses with chip around the rim were served on more than one occasion. Hygiene is just not taken seriously. When these issues, with the view that I would like to discuss them with management it never happened.

We wish to assure you that we take all comments coming from our Guests very seriously. Let us highlight that hygiene is very important for us and we are always careful about it. As already stated in the other reviews you published, what happened with your chicken was just a mistake, promptly solved as you received another well-cooked dish. In any case, we shared your comment with our Restaurant Manager. As per the cleanliness, we don’t agree with your judgement as our housekeeping service is normally efficient and cleans all parts of the room everyday. In any case, when a Guest is not satisfied, the best thing to do is to talk immediately with the hotel's staff members. Unfortunately, this was not done in your case (with the exception of the chicken): we would have provided you assistance and proposed a solution. Best regards, Aldo Werdin General Manager
