Hotel Piccolo Portofino is located in a privileged position, set on the slopes that characterize this exclusive stretch of the Ligurian coast overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio. During the sixties this location became very famous thanks to the protagonists of the star system, the nobles and aristocrats began to populate this fascinating locality to enjoy its exclusive parties and its fantastic scenery. The town of Portofino has remained unchanged all over the times, beautiful to live and to see as well. Hotel Piccolo Portofino, surrounded by the typical luxuriant vegetation of the Liguria Riviera, among the crystal clear water of Portofino and the blue sky, is a piece of art of the reception, unique of its kind. A hidden jewel, that has to be searched end discovered. Obtained from a refined period villa, today it is a boutique hotel, and from its generous terraces a breathtaking view onto this exclusive stretch of coast can be enjoyed. Inside, the contemporary design plays on strong contrasts, with combinations of marbles in white and black, and red velvets, crystals and soft fabrics. The set offers sensations of a refined, exclusive equilibrium and a romantic intimacy. Feelings that find their highest expression in the only 23 rooms of the hotel. Here, among all the comforts suited to the modern traveler, the contrasts are reduced, giving way to the softness of pastel tones, the whiteness of beds and enveloping pillows, to the transparency of the curtains behind which the gaze is lost onto the renowned beauty of this location to emphasize the stunning surrounding landscape A superb touch of exclusivity is added since this year to the range of services which Hotel Portofino is proud to dedicate to its guests. Just five minutes from the Hotel there is the legendary Piazzetta of Portofino, for a walk, a coffee or for a moment of pure relax . Or for shopping in the renowned brand stores

I love this location. It is pricey but this is Portofino!!!! The breakfast includes a beautiful spread and fresh pressed original juices. Love the private little beach cove. The walls are a bit thin so you can definitely hear whatever is going on in the next room. We didn’t enjoy our dinner as much as breakfast and would probably eat in town next time. The service is very good though!

Beautiful hotel nestled into the hillside. The staff was pleasant and attentive. About a quarter mile to the port achieved by walking along a pleasant hillside path. Stayed with my family of 5 in 2 rooms. Nice rooms and clean. One room had a balcony which was good for watching the traffic and people walk by. Across the road and down the hill were sun chairs at different levels ending in a nice swimming area in the Mediterranean.

Portofino was quite picturesque. Glad I saw it but not sure I would go back. I would consider staying at a town not too far away with better beaches and more restaurants and shops (Santa Margherita).

If it was just me and my wife I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

My wife and I from Australia stayed here as part of our honeymoon and loved the stay. We had the most perfect balcony room (303) and enjoyed the private beach as well as the breakfast. Every single staff member was so very helpful and accommodating and the service we received was impeccable. The location was also perfect as it was couple hundred metres away from the hustle of Portofino! Thank you to all the staff - we can't wait to return and recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.

Our room was old and not renovated, with sea view over the busy road very noisy and without sound insulation. The windows could not be closed completely (photo), the carpet was very dirty (photo), desk lamp without lampshade (photo), the couch was old and dirty (photo), the table was stuck and obviously had not been cleaned for a long time, the hair dryer in the bathroom did not work and the TV did not show any channels.

The public beach at the hotel is very small and not maintained.

The breakfast room is uncomfortable and the staff is overtaxed. The cappuccino was lukewarm, orders were forgotten (milk for muesli). Unfortunately the terrace cannot be used for breakfast.

The only positive thing was the guy who was taking our luggage at arrival, he was very friendly.

The price/performance ratio is not right here at all (we paid 350 Euro per night). We do not come back.

As the saying goes, if you put a tutu on a pig, it isn't a ballerina. Having a marquee location does not make you a great hotel either. in this case, not even a good one. One cannot deny the spectacular views of Portofino harbor from the hotel but the allure ends there. The rooms are shabby, dated and poorly appointed (particularly for the money). We reserved a triple with a view. when we arrived that was exactly what we got, except no air conditioning; in fact, no air movement at all. After several ' 'attempts' to fix this, we were offered two small rooms with AC to sleep and a further promise to review the situation in the morning. While I strongly suspected that this did not just happen, my suspicions were confirmed when friends in the same hotel, who had problems of their own, were moved to the room next door, also sans AC. The Manager was not very helpful and 'could do nothing' because they were fully booked. After several goes around we were given a smaller room, also with a view and AC this time. There was no accommodation for the disruption or inconvenience. there is a generally poor customer service mentality at the hotel. we did enjoy the terrace across the street with lovely views of the sea. in keeping with the theme, this area was unkept and during our three days there the trash bins were not emptied, rubbish that was sitting on the chair the day we arrived was still there when we left and towels were left on the chairs from prior days. it is a pity because having the location as a starting point should position this hotel for success but the lousy attitude of their management and the basic services equal a two star hotel in a great location. Go somewhere else.

Dated interiors which feel cheap, and service mediocre - we had noise in our room due to the kitchen extractor fan, which eventually stopped but not reasonable for the price. Taxi organised for us by the hotel tried to over charge us for paying in card, after explicitly asking the hotel if we could pay with card to which they said yes. Additionally, website makes it look like private beach, but actually the swimming part is public - that’s fine, but positioning is not what it seems.

Location is great, but would not call this value for money at all!

Have been to this hotel in 2012, 2017 and in August 2023. Despite the fact the room rate has increased for more than double in price in 2023, there were no development or the slightest improvement in the hotel or property area. On the contrary, there were holes and paint fading in the room, toilet smell of sewage & urinary. Toilet sink was malfunctioned. There were horrible leakage from the hotel window and balcony when it Rainer. Breakfast was served with portion packed cereal. For the 800 ++ euro per night room rate we paid we expected more that packet cereal. Hotel employees showed no motivation, which add on to the list. Wine cabinet in the restaurant was filled with layer of dust. What a shame for both the hotel and the employees. Recommend highly to reconsider staying at this hotel. Their glory days are over.

We were very satisfied with our choice. The location of the hotel is perfect because it’s very central and close to Portofino city and also to the beach .
Our room was huge and everything was very clean . We loved the little terrace - even we had no view to the ocean but it was a relaxing atmosphere.
Breakfast was good and we loved the entire staff . Very polite and attentive to assist and help at all times . Overall a wonderful hotel ! We’ll definitely come back !

If you are able to handle stairs, then Hotel Piccolo is the place to stay in Portofino. The problem with Portofino is that if you stay in the Port, it is hard to have any beach access or easily and have easily get to your car. And if you stay out of the Port, it is usually hard to access the Port But Hotel Piccolo combines a 10-minute walk right to the Port, parking on-site, and a private beach. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to help. Beautiful views we, good breakfast. We have been to Portofino a couple of times, but this visit was the best because we finally solved the hotel problem. (There are plenty of stairs up and down to the Port so if climbing stairs is a problem, this will not be an option).

The staff is amazing, professional and always so helpful! For sure they deserve 5 stars! Also the staff at breakfast super!
The hotel location is perfect, just few step away from the Piazzetta.
It has also a private parking which for sure is a plus in Portofino!
Beautiful views also over the bay and their private terrace/solarium is also breathtaking!
Rooms are very spacious and with a beautiful balcony with a nice setting. Loved the balcony!!
unfortunately very old, they need a nice overall refurbish, especially the toilet. Rooms dont provide complimentary water or tea/coffee facilities.

Yes. It's just beside the road that enters into Portofino. This road is very new and in good condition. You should be careful because in high season is full of bikers and pedestrians. This road unites Portofino with Santa Margherita Ligure. It's la Strada Provinciale 227 di Portofino.
