The staff is amazing, professional and always so helpful! For sure they deserve 5 stars! Also the staff at breakfast super! The hotel location is perfect, just few step away from the Piazzetta. It has also a private parking which for sure is a plus in Portofino! Beautiful views also over the bay and their private terrace/solarium is also breathtaking! Rooms are very spacious and with a beautiful balcony with a nice setting. Loved the balcony!! unfortunately very old, they need a nice overall refurbish, especially the toilet. Rooms dont provide complimentary water or tea/coffee facilities.
Stayed here with my partner, it was a special occasion for my birthday and the hotel did not disappoint. The location was perfect and the views from the room were outstanding. The rooms were clean, slightly dated but as we expected for the hotels in this area. Staff were friendly, breakfast was great with lots of options. The pebble beach for the hotel is located directly opposite on the road and down the stairs, it is phenomenal. It has private sun loungers specifically for hotel guests which were available each day and it has a bar area outside in the cliffs. The walk to portofino main port is about 5-10 minutes. Definitely one of the best holidays I’ve had, would definitely recommend staying here. Only negative is that parking is not included in the price of the hotel stay. Having said that, the police were stopping all visitors from parking in portofino so it’s definitely useful to have parking at the hotel.…
My wife and I from Australia stayed here as part of our honeymoon and loved the stay. We had the most perfect balcony room (303) and enjoyed the private beach as well as the breakfast. Every single staff member was so very helpful and accommodating and the service we received was impeccable. The location was also perfect as it was couple hundred metres away from the hustle of Portofino! Thank you to all the staff - we can't wait to return and recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
If you are able to handle stairs, then Hotel Piccolo is the place to stay in Portofino. The problem with Portofino is that if you stay in the Port, it is hard to have any beach access or easily and have easily get to your car. And if you stay out of the Port, it is usually hard to access the Port But Hotel Piccolo combines a 10-minute walk right to the Port, parking on-site, and a private beach. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to help. Beautiful views we, good breakfast. We have been to Portofino a couple of times, but this visit was the best because we finally solved the hotel problem. (There are plenty of stairs up and down to the Port so if climbing stairs is a problem, this will not be an option).
Stayed three nights. Bathrooms extremely small. Black walls in halls- dated dark. Staff not friendly. Needs major renovation. View of water good and an easy walk to Portofino. Would not stay there again.
As the saying goes, if you put a tutu on a pig, it isn't a ballerina. Having a marquee location does not make you a great hotel either. in this case, not even a good one. One cannot deny the spectacular views of Portofino harbor from the hotel but the allure ends there. The rooms are shabby, dated and poorly appointed (particularly for the money). We reserved a triple with a view. when we arrived that was exactly what we got, except no air conditioning; in fact, no air movement at all. After several ' 'attempts' to fix this, we were offered two small rooms with AC to sleep and a further promise to review the situation in the morning. While I strongly suspected that this did not just happen, my suspicions were confirmed when friends in the same hotel, who had problems of their own, were moved to the room next door, also sans AC. The Manager was not very helpful and 'could do nothing' because they were fully booked. After several goes around we were given a smaller room, also with a view and AC this time. There was no accommodation for the disruption or inconvenience. there is a generally poor customer service mentality at the hotel. we did enjoy the terrace across the street with lovely views of the sea. in keeping with the theme, this area was unkept and during our three days there the trash bins were not emptied, rubbish that was sitting on the chair the day we arrived was still there when we left and towels were left on the chairs from prior days. it is a pity because having the location as a starting point should position this hotel for success but the lousy attitude of their management and the basic services equal a two star hotel in a great location. Go somewhere else.…
Large nice room with incredible view. Breakfast was great. Staff was incredible. 5 star service. Room is simple for the cost but very reasonable considering location. Best deal by far in Portofino. Definitely will stay here next time we are here.
Third stop on our 3 week road trip were really disappointed with the hotel and our room - and let the Manager know. He said he would move us the next day and he did - but failed to mention the 30% increase in price (nice checkout surprise!) At $450+ the room was overpriced,- and a little noisy (over the main road) but the view was out standing and the wonderful private Terrace they had for guests - across the road - was outstanding. Parking added another $25/day. Breakfasts were good and the staff friendly and accommodating. Glad we stayed but probably wouldn't go back at nearly $500/day all in.
My friend and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Piccolo. Serene and quiet (away from the bustle of the dock), the scenery is like that of an Italian fairytale. Clean and simple room, with a lovely breakfast selection of both hot and buffet items (which, due to the pandemic, was not self-serve when we were there). The hotel also has its own private terrace overlooking the lake, and a sense of elegance without pretense. For me, it was perfect, and I look forward to returning again in the future!
Dated interiors which feel cheap, and service mediocre - we had noise in our room due to the kitchen extractor fan, which eventually stopped but not reasonable for the price. Taxi organised for us by the hotel tried to over charge us for paying in card, after explicitly asking the hotel if we could pay with card to which they said yes. Additionally, website makes it look like private beach, but actually the swimming part is public - that’s fine, but positioning is not what it seems. Location is great, but would not call this value for money at all!
