Hotel Firenze e Continentale was the base for 3 nights in La Spezia while visiting the beautiful Cinque Terre villages and found the hotel to be pretty good. The hotel lobby and bar all look lovely , modern and refreshed but unless you pay for a superior room sadly you'll be disappointed. Checkin is not until 3 p.m. so don't arrive early as you are unlikely to get your room so you will have to leave your bags. It was strange to have an actual roomkey again instead of a plastic key-card. My room was fine, a little old fashioned and for 140 EUR a night plus 5 EUR city tax perhaps a little expensive . The bed was clean and comfortable, everything was clean and there was a tray with a kettle to make tea/coffee. It was facing inwards so there was no street noise. Wifi was free and worked very well on my devices. The bathroom was a tad narrow but it had everything you needed , the shower worked well and plenty of hot and cold water. Breakfast was included in the rate and served in the room downstairs. You had to prebook a time slot but most people seemed to just turn up and it sometimes got very busy. Everything was served to you so you had to stay behind the rope and wear your mask . Pastries were nice, the eggs and bacon okay, good selection of cheese and meats all from local areas. The fruit selection was especially good. Staff were sometimes brusk but mostly friendly, cocktails at the bar were well made but again a little expensive for the location by a train station. Perhaps a free drink for hotel guests might be a nice idea ? It's a perfect location as the trains are right there and restaurants and bars are a short walk away.

Dear guest, thank you for your nice words and for taking some time to review your stay at our Hotel. The Hotel has over six different categories, ranging in style from classic to modern. We have also recently expanded our offer with new Deluxe rooms that boast the best quality in terms of furniture and design. In addition, some of the rooms we have have have the original key, which is heavier than the magnetic key that is required for other rooms. We thank you a lot for your advices, our top priority is satisfying our guests needs. We do hope to be welcoming you back in the nearest future. Kind regards, La Direzione

Friendly service, beautiful hotel, classy accomodation, good shower, small elevators, close to the city center and railway station. Unfortunately most cocktails are really bad (we tried 4 different ones & send back 2 -never did that the past 30 yrs)

Dear guest, thank you for posting a review. We're glad you have appreciated the service, the location and the confort of our Hotel. Referring to the bar, we are very surprised. We apologize our signature cockatils named 'Railroad' and 'Goldenstag' did not match your expectations. We receive compliments on a daily basis and at the same time we hope you enjoyed the other ones you had the chance to taste. We hope to see you again in our Hotel. Kind regards, La Direzione

We originally booked a two night stay. After arriving at the hotel and on seeing our room, we arranged to stay a further night. So glad we did so. It is a great hotel. We had a room on the 5th floor with a balcony. The room had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The bathroom was beautiful with a large walk in shower. The beds were very comfortable. There was an excellent cocktail bar on the ground floor. The staff at the hotel were all great. Very friendly and helpful. They helped make our stay so enjoyable. We always found Marco on reception to be particularly helpful. Their Covid.19 precautions were thorough and made us feel safe throughout our stay. The hotel is conveniently located near the station and the town centre. We would certainly stay at this hotel again when next in the area. We were sad to leave.

When you enter to the hotel lobby, it looks nice, renovated, and the receptionist was kind and helpful. The problems began at the evening. Our room was located on the first floor. Our room was't so nice as the lobby, but we accepted it. But when we tried to sleep, around midnight, we realised, that could hear every noise from the reception desk and from the bar. When the main entrance door was opening, a bell rang every time. Somebody started to use a vacuum cleaner at the lobby, then someone turned on loud music, so I had to ask them to turn it off. You can hear everything, the activity of other guest from the neighbour and from the corridor, from the street, disaster! The rooms don't have sound-proof at all. On Booking.com they promise soundproof rooms. We had to reserve arrival time for breakfast, because of COVID safety, but the organisation was a disaster. We had to wait 25 minutes standing on the stairs, till we got our table. The staff (two people) managed to serve the guest from the buffet and it was very very slow. We spent nearly one hour with the breakfast. The staff was unprofessional, for example, we asked for coffee, then we had to ask for a spoon, and than for sugar. Maybe they need some special training, how to serve guests in a restaurant.

Dear Péter P, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are dazed to read about your experience at our Hotel. Each bedroom is equipped with soundproof windows (Schuco) however the Hotel is built within an historic building, right in the city centre. Our Bar is built within a separate building from the Hotel and during the dates of your stay, it was open only until midnight. The comfort of our guests is our priority and we take extra care during night hours. With regards to the breakfast, we are sorry if it took longer than expected: we checked with the duty manager on the day who confirmed all guests were led to their table as soon as they entered the breakfast room. As per the latest protocols in terms of health and safety, we are unable to allow normal access to the buffet therefore our staff is doing their best to guarantee a fast service without compromising quality and complying with the regulations in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. These are challenging times worldwide and we are certain of your understanding. We hope to be welcoming you back in the future and be able to show you we can turn your experience around. Best regards, La Direzione

This was a really nice Hotel. Newly renovated and we got a room on the 5th floor which was very nice. Good beds, nicely renovated. Even though we are right next to the railwaystation there was no sound trains or cars. The breakfast was really nice - but we had to book a time and stand in line for 20 min to get in due to covid. We had a good couple of days there. They had only last week open the new bar and breakfask area - it was very nice. They also have a nice terrace area with bar? We found out from the reseptionist as we were cheking out. If we are coimg back I would stay at this Hotel.
