What a delightful hotel! The staff is warm and welcoming. There is an antique elevator that is really cool. It is fairly large, but has two doors and is fairly open so you can see going up. The rooms are charming. I love the wallpaper and decoration. It is all an aquatic theme. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that my room had a slight odor, and I could not get the room cool enough. There is another hotel connected to this one owned by the same company. I would definitely stay here again. The location is excellent. Just a 10 minute walk down to the Old Port.

Very noisy hotel, either from an industrial machinery under our window or the lift or the street noise. We had to go to another hotel for 2 nights to escape the noise and to sleep. Very disappointing they don't do anything about the noise or that Expedia doesn't mention this on their website!

We booked this hotel as we were travelling by train and it is a few minutes from the station (don’t worry, you can’t hear the trains) With hindsight, the next station along seems to be in a better neighbourhood. The walk from this hotel to the main attractions takes you through some seedy and unglamorous areas. We liked the quirky feel to the hotel and the staff both at reception and the restaurant were all great and friendly. The breakfast was a bit limited and the rooms a bit smaller than a normal 4 star hotel. Central to the hotel is the lift and stairs which makes most rooms within earshot of people coming and going.

I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the walk to the center, it is an enjoyable walk along via Balbi and then to via Garibaldi, which is one of the most elegant street with beatiful architecture, maybe you have taken another street which probably goes in the narrow street. This hotel was wonderful. Its location is perfect, right across the street from the train station. My train arrived before check in and I went to the hotel with just the intention of dropping off luggage, but they were so kind and allowed me to my room right away, which they upgraded to a larger suite. The staff were all very kind and professional. The room was grand, luxurious, and the hotel has a beautiful historical appearance. Bathroom was large with a delightful shower. It was such a nice experience. I will stay here again when I hopefully return to Genova in the future.

We stayed in this excellent comfortable hotel for 3 nights. It is located in a nice quiet safe area, being about a five minute walk from both the seafront and main attractions. There are some high quality cafes and restaurants nearby. The city centre is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk from here. It was such fun travelling up and down on the quaint lift. There is such a nice atmosphere in reception, where refreshing jugs of water with lemon and orange slices are provided for guests . The air conditioned rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and excellent showers. We really liked the breakfasts, a good selection of hot and cold foods and an impressive array of fruits. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

Just arrived and this is a seriously gorgeous hotel. It's old but well preserved and very elegant. It is right across the street the Stazione Principe - the main Genova train station and there are lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and bars down the block. It has a very Genovese feeling. Our room is very clean with a nice bathtub, bed is firm and .comfortable, and the air conditioning works very well on this hot July day. The hotel has two adjacent restaurants and a bar on the 7th floor where you can get a dazzling view of the city lights at night. The concierge has been very helpful (and told us where to get Sicilian marzipan! Very happy to be here!

We had a lovely 4 nights as this hotel over a long weekend. Every team member had exceptional customer service skills, with a particular mention for Muyang on Reception and Giovanni on the terrace bar. The biggest bonus is being able to use the facilities of the sister hotel which connects via an internal walkway. We had considered booking the hotel next door, but didn’t think it was worth the additional €50 a night for a fancier breakfast as the breakfast at the Continental was very good. The hotel is ideally suited if you wish to explore the area by foot or hop on a train. The old port is only a 10 minute walk away and the fast train from the main train station (2 minute walk away) enables you to visit the Riviera within 30 minutes. Lovely hotel with historic touches. Very comfortable bed and room was a good size. The reception staff were also lovely. This is the second time we have stayed here.The breakfast is excellent and so are the staff. Hotel is a very easy walk from Genova Principe Railway Station.

We arrived at this hotel from Nice. Walk out of the station and the hotel is one minute across the road - can't miss it. The room was clean and tidy and of course the hotel is in a great location. We did not dine here but had our breakfast which was excellent. The town centre is just down the road but beware the 'ladies of the night' operate in locations in the town centre and there's also a 'day shift': you have been warned. Nice one night stop over in a great hotel with great staff in a great location - what more does anyone want. Bon journey

We stayed for 3 nights from May 4-7th and were quite happy with the location and service at this old-fashioned but well maintained property. Limited breakfast options for us vegetarian family but really appreciated the service by the staff. A special word of praise for Ms Valentina, who served us during breakfast. Now a word of caution with summer round the corner. The AC is our room no. 531 was far from satisfactory and was switched off by 5.30 am. on the first 2 days of our stay (ACs are controlled by the front desk) and it wouldn't start again for a few hours. We were told that ACs are switched off, or else we would freeze :-( which i found quite amusing). The last day of our stay was ruined with the AC stopped functioning completely from the time we came back to the room from 6.30 pm onwards and remained non functional until we checked out the following morning. The front desk tried their best to help out, but they couldn't fix the AC (as maintenance guys don't work on weekends) and we had to keep windows open through the night to avoid suffocation. This one incident marred our experience in an otherwise pleasant stay. …
