Our stay was exactly what we needed. We arrived at Hotel Continental Genoa after our long flight from the states, looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet place to stay for the night prior to starting our Italy vacation. The hotel checked all the boxes! Additionally we were welcomed warmly at check-in and had all our questions answered. We selected this location because of it’s proximity to the train station (across the street), and we are so glad we did! If we have the opportunity to return to Genoa, we will look to stay here again!
This hotel was the perfect location for us - super close (within 2 mins walk) of the train station which was fab as we used Genoa as a base to explore the coastal region. Hotel room was really lovely and clean. We had a large balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. Naturally being central to a city it is noiser with the road outside but we found the shutters very useful to cancel a lot of this out. Breakfast was fine and the 2 restaurants available as part of the hotel (or Savoia next door) were so handy. With the main Savoia restaurant on floor 7 brilliant - incredible food & a far reaching view. I'd highly recommend for a stay if you're in Genoa.
Charged DOUBLE for room and have been working for WEEKS to get not only a response but resolution and restitution! We have documentation and paperwork supplied that shows we paid in-advance and in-full for our reservation PRIOR to our arrival! All we needed to pay on-site was our parking along with taxes and/or incidentals — which we paid at checkout! 3 couples and ALL OF US were charged for a prepaid room! We have sent emails and now have our travel agent working on it without much success. @Dancing Moon Travel (Ms Pat Hand). Hotel is lovely. Front desk staff were friendly and welcoming! However, this lack of follow-up is deserving of less than one star performance!
Great location if arriving / leaving by train. Relatively short walk to old town. Large, clean room, well equipped. Lift is a bit ancient and won't work if the door is left ajar. Helpful staff. Quiet considering its location.
We loved our time here. The furnishings are beautiful, the service is excellent. Great location. Everything about our stay was perfect. I just wish we could’ve been there longer. Great location - close to many buses and train stations. Loved it!
The Continental is a really good quality hotel, very nice spacious rooms, conveniently located a minutes walk from the Piazza Principe train station, close to bars and restaurants, and 10 minutes walk to the old part of Genoa. My 4th floor room had great views over the city. A perfect base for exploring this beautiful city.
Great location to central train station and restaurants. Room accommodations were great had an executive room my family of 3 & spacious and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was hearty and something for everyone. Staff was exceptional and loved they had a WhatsApp # for guests to have use to if they needed assistance or had questions.
Bed was too small for 2 people and had a hard mattress Shower was tiny but room size ok Breakfast was reasonable Traffic outside was noisy, could not only hear cars but people talking as they walked by, people talking in the lobby and to our surprise a garbage truck working at 11.45pm at night! Hotel main door closed after 11pm, so you need to enter via the hotel next door (Hotel Savoie) Air conditioning didn't work effectively in the room, making sleep difficult Hotel desk was not very welcoming or helpful when we asked for help with tourist details Room wasn't cleaned by 3pm There are better hotels in Genova, definitely not recommended unless perhaps if you have an early train to catch but then stay in Hotel Savoie
a great hotel, with an awsome view of old building and plazas, very good location. Breakfast, AMAZING! on the down side, not to many parking spaces so we had to park a few plocks from the hotel in a paid parking
The hotel location is next to the train station - that is a big plus. But other than that, the location does not give any special advantages from a sight seeing perspective. It may be better to find location near the waterfront area. We booked a room for 3 people and it was very tight. Hotels should have an obligation not to not allow a booking for 3 people if it is going to be too tight. The tightness depends upon the furniture layout and other stuff in the room. There was a big chest that served no purpose but to take up space. The big cup-board could have been positioned differently in the room to create more space. The bathroom was so-so - a bit of a let down for a hotel that is supposedly 4-stars. The toilet seat was loose - don't expect that in a hotel of this class. The breakfast was also very ordinary - again not deserving a hotel of this class.…
