An elegant turn-of-the-century palace in the centre of Genoa on Via XX Settembre. The Bristol Palace is just a few steps from the most important offices and exhibition sites, from Palazzo Ducale to the Carlo Felice theatre, as well as the most prestigious shops, museums and not least from the largest aquarium in Europe.During its recent renovation its elegance and exclusiveness were blended with a modern and functional conception of the services. The dramatic elliptical staircase in white and Liberty wrought-iron banister soars up to the top floor in a spectacular spiral that seems to suspended in space.

Step back in history when you enter this hotel. A huge staircase and many saloons on the ground floor. Reception staff was ok. Room was midsize, but we slept very well. Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary, but tasty. Friendly staff members, specially at the bar. Salvatore made our day with his effiency and friendliness.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for only one night during while driving through Southern France and Northern Italy on vacation, but once we arrived we wished we had stayed longer. The hotel is in a perfect location, very close to parking, shopping, restaurants and a very short walk to the most famous sites. The historic architecture was mesmerizing, especially as everything is so well maintained. The rooms are completely updated and extremely clean. But the best part was the amazing hospitality. Carlos, our front desk receptionist, was our superhero. This was especially amazing because the guest he helped before us was a real jerk with unreasonable complaints. Carlos handled it like a pro yet did not let that negativity carry over to us.

This historical hotel is located near the central square and has a nice atmosphere. Staff is caring, polite and welcoming. Rooms are cleaned several times per day. Staying here is nice, perhaps a bit expensive though. Would definately return here.

Booking said breakfast included but when we arrived, staff told us that breakfast wasn't available because of covid restrictions. No refund. We paid for a breakfast we never had. Same for the parking: Booking said "private parking available" but no, staff gave us directions to the nearest public parking. We thought they would validate the parking ticket at the end of our stay. Nope, it was on us, and they never mentioned it. Room wasn't the cleanest: there was a stomped cigarette pack on the balcony. No coffee machine, only a kettle and instant coffee. Were we really in Italy? So in short, clearly overpriced and not the kind of service you expect from a 4-star. The restaurant was good though, with good service/food and not pricey at all.

Dear M2286VHoliviers, Thank you for your review. However please allow me to clarify certain points as I think there is a misunderstanding. I have traced your booking and your name through the booking website. The rate you booked on booking.com is only bed, without breakfast or other meals included. You may check this on the reservation. This is not the first time I see people not realize they booked a rate without breakfast through a thrid party website, but we do not have control obviously over how they arrange the booking process. We only provide the rates. I am sorry. So the rate was without breakfast, and unfortunately it was not possible in the moment you checked in to add breakfast to your booking, paying the required supplement (breakfast is not free of charge but costs 15 euro per person) because the breakfast rooms were fully booked. The rooms are big, and the terrace is too, but due to covid restrictions we must of course place tables at at least 1 meter distance the one from the other, so places are limited, more limited tham they were before covid. So in truth you never paid for a breakfast you didn't have, and no refund was due because your rate did not include breakfast to begin with. The same goes for parking. We have a private garage with valet parking, but it has naturally a limited amount of spaces and it is a service guests pay 27 Euros per night for. Booking a place in advance is recommended in order to be sure to have a space. I am sorry that it was full when you arrived. The public parking is very close to the hotel and I hope this minimized your disconfort. Please bear in mind that both our garage and the public garage are services not included in the room rate, as "private parking available" does not mean that it is free. I have tried to modify the description on booking to say"private parking available at a cost - booking necessary" to prevent misunderstandings but as it a standard text you flag and not comething hoteliers write it is not possible. I am sorry about the other things you say and especially sorry for the misunderstandings in general. I feel these soured the hotel experience for you. I will be sure to share this review with the hotel staff in order to create a better awareness, explaining things fully to our guests. If you ever come back to Genoa, please give us another chance and write an e-mail to me at the hotel. I will be pleased to give you a special treatment to make up at least in part for the past disconfort. Thank you Kind regards, Fiorenza Peyrot Deputy Manager
