A late arrival of a ferry to Ancona meant that we couldn't get to Fontevivo till after midnight. We had been looking forward to our return visit to this sophisticated, informal hotel and to eating in their exceptional restaurant. Even at the late hour the owner was at the door to welcome us and a supper trolley of cold, local... More

I stayed one night. The hotel is a historic building and has been renewed and decorated with style. More than just a hotel as an experience with all the art and antiques around. The yard is beautiful and soothing, the dinner was amazing. You can go even for the just the food. Rooms are spacious, old, still have all modern... More

This is an oasis of calm and beauty and I totally agree with the other reviews which rate the food as the best they have eaten. The region is renowned for its Parma ham and parmesan cheese but it tastes so much better than what we can get at home. The chef seems to bring out the best in the... More

Three of us were driving from Cinque Terre to Como and did not want to stay in a large city and fight city traffic. This was relatively close to the highway without having to go all the way to Parma. I found Hotel Relais Fontevivo on TripAdvisor. Letizia, the owner, showed us personally to our rooms and spent alot of... More

A little out of the way from the mainstream but well worth the visit ! The hospitality from the family and staff was 5 star yet cozy and laid back. Excellent service for both the hotel and restaurant. Do not be put off as you drive up .... just go through the doorway and it's a step back in time... More

This hotel/restaurant looks like nothing, until you step through the entrance. The former monastery has been tastefully renovated, turning the hotel into a very special place. The room are small, with low ceilings, making them very cozy. The shower rooms are spacious, with some lovely little touches, ie complimentary toothbrushes. The showerhead was fixed, and the aircon, was effective but... More

I only spent one night here, which is a shame. The place is an old Monastery which is being refurbished. I booked 2 basic single rooms as we were only staying the one night, we got upgraded to a double room. As said the rooms are not huge but they were clean and comfortable. We stayed for dinner also on... More

We really enjoyed our one night here, it is a great building full of history, we were made very welcome and had a whole wing to share with our friends, the rooms are clean but quite small which is part of the charm and there are lounge areas that are very comfortable. The breakfast was good and we would have... More

Let's be clear - the room is definitely no more than a standard 3-star, however this place is extremely cheap, it's in a stunning building, it's in a lovely location and the restaurant downstairs, whilst ironically pricey, is really good. A fantastic experience - If I ever had an excuse to be in Parma again, I will stay here in... More

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely restaurant with good food - although breakfast was very limited (even for Italy with no cheeses or meets (from what I could see)) Room is very basic and small. Bed and pillows are rock hard. This is the problem..........I stay in hundreds of hotels and the ONE thing I want is a good night... More
