Hotel Il Canale is my favourite place to stay in Bologna. The location is excellent as it is very close to the main shopping street Via dell'Indipendenza and withing walking distance of the train station and major city attractions. The staff are very helpful and friedly especially the owner Giuseppe and Michele. Breakfast is generous and you can taste a...

Excellent hotel in the centre of Bologna. Stayed here for 4 nights and the room was perfect. The staff were really great, really helpful nice people. The location was ideal us with several good restaurants nearby (especially via Augusto Righi) and La Quaderia for shopping. Easily one of best hotels we stayed in during our two weeks traveling in Italy.

If compared to the previous stay at the same location I found the hotel corridors very "messy" with plenty of old luggage pieces filling all corridors walls, which give an impression of absolute disorder. The room was extremely small if compared to the uselessly HUGE bathroom. As to the service, as always excellent. The room was clean, and, as last...

We stayed for 4 nights and were very happy here. Thought it was good value for a city hotel in such a central location. Very warm and clean, nice to be able to open the windows too. Breakfast was ok,cappuccinos really good and mini fridge in the room. Some fab bars/restaurants nearby. We loved the area close to the hotel, full of...

I'll Canale has everything you'd want in a pensione in a great location. Giuseppe is a very fine host and goes out of his way to make life easy and comfortable. Simple continental breakfast and clean rooms and bathrooms. Quirky decorating and a view of the canal from the breakfast room. We'd stay there again - and that's as good...

Conveniently located between the central station and the main square in the heart of the historic center. It was quiet during the night as it is situated on a minor street. The hotel is very well decorated and the furniture creates a cosy atmosphere. The choice for breakfast is not huge but the pastry was really good. The personell is...

As other reviewers have said, this is a little gem. Near to the centre of the city and Giuseppe and his family cannot do enough to make sure you have a good stay. The rooms overlook an internal courtyard and we knew we were not going to a hotel with fantastic views. That being said, rooms are very clean, complete...

This hotel is recommended for two reasons; its fabulous location and warmest of welcomes, from the young women who cheerfully make unlimited cappuccini if you ask to the young owner who is a great and generous ambassador for his impressive city. Definitely not just your bland standard hotel in terms of decor, the prams and suitcases adorning the first floor...
