Travelers' Choice
Just a short distance from the two Towers and Piazza Maggiore, in the serene setting of medieval Bologna, you will find the Hotel Corona d'Oro 1890. Its peaceful location, just a hundred meters from the two towers, is the perfect base for your visit to Bologna: its elegant furnishings and magnificent frescoes, together with a staff that is exceptionally attentive to your needs, will make your stay at our Hotel unforgettable. The palazzo, which in the 15th century was the prestigious residence of the noble Azzoguidi family, traces its origins to the 13th century. The hotel takes the visitor on a journey through various stylistic and architectural eras: from the magical art deco in the lobby, back to the frescoes of coats of arms and landscapes from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and back still further to the medieval severity of the coffered ceilings which adorn the Azzoguidi conference hall and the stately portico outside. The thoroughly renovated Hotel Corona d'Oro provides upscale amenities that ensure a luxurious and comfortable stay, fitting for even the most discerning of guests. It also offers first-class suites and spaces for conferences, meetings, and exhibitions, all of which feature independent access.

Worst experience into a 4 stars hotel. To avoid. I arrived by car and needed to drive the car to the garage far away with the Valet…strange.. Then, for 180€, I had a small room with view on the back of a restaurant at the first floor. The room is made of fake gold with a weird old music stereo in the bathroom similar to motel in the 80’. Finally, the climatisation was too cold and couldn’t be fix at 24’. I asked to change the room and they didn’t propose anything else… On top of everything, while I have chosen this hotel because it was central with « a PARKING » like in my two previous hotel on my trip, it was actually 35€ plus 5€ of taxes. They didn’t mention it when I parked the car at 7 pm and only noticed it when I wanted back at 9am the next day. The public parking costs 20€ max, so it was absolutely expensive and didn’t mention it clearly before. I stayed at Castelfalfi Palace the night before and didn’t have to pay the parking. Same thing for Sesta Terra resort. The 45-50 years lady at the reception was agressive, didn’t have any commercial mindset. She shooted at me couple of times and just wanted to get paid. I had the chance to travel all around the world and I never experience this kind of servicing…. To avoid !

This hotel has really everything you could possibly want in a hotel. It is beautifully decorated and thoroughly equipped to meet your needs. It is perfectly situated, with restaurants,/bars just feet away. My only regret is that I only stayed one night.

During our stay in Bologna all cafes, bars and restaurants had to close at 6pm so Bologna became very quiet. The hotel is surrounded by cafes and bars all closed, so the hotel, in addition to the food provided ,made arrangements with a local trattoria to give us an additional choice of food. We stayed for a week and loved every minute. In the end as restrictions became more severe we had breakfast served in our room. The staff were fantastic. The reception was great at booking things and giving information which was as well because our travel company which was supposed to be special were notably absent for our entire visit. In fact the reception and the evening bar were outstanding

I have just returned from a three night stay here where I was joined by my daughter and grandson hector for one night. The location of the hotel is perfect , quiet and calm inside , but you step out of the doors into the hustle, bustle and excitement that is Bologna....literally on your doorstep. The hotel is immaculate , everywhere whether it be in your own room or the public spaces is immaculate and spotless with extra care being taken during the Covid pandemic. The Italian government introduced new closure times for bars and restuarants during our stay but the hotel took it in its stride and food was available for residents served in the lobby. Breakfast was buffet style , though not a help yourself basis , you chose and it was handed to you, a very safe procedure. But the real stars are the staff, nothing was too much trouble everything carried out with a smile and a real example to the hospitality industry. Grandson Hector was spoilt rotten, even being given a small teddy bear to take home. So a big thank you, we will be back
