We stayed for 3 nights in early September 2021 in the Rubino apartment. The B&B has two apartments and other rooms. It's just 5 minutes away from Piazza Maggiore. Maria, the owner, has been running her B&B since 2004 and it shows! She is incredibly hospitable and kind. Her apartments and rooms show tremendous attention to design and guest comfort. The shower was larger than most places we have stayed in Italy, and the apartments feature a clothes washing machine, which was extremely helpful in the middle of our trip. For those of you who appreciate such things, the windows have screens and open to a courtyard that is not on the street. The recently renovated apartment also features dual outlets on each side of the bed to charge phones, tablets, or whatever you may need. Although we stayed in an apartment, we were able to see a room also. A stay in either would be just as cozy.
We arrived by train, and before our arrival Maria provided helpful suggestions and great directions. Breakfast an excellent sample of goodies including cornetto, jam, yogurt, meats and cheeses, and, of course, coffee and fresh juice. As part of registration, Maria provided a substantial list of restaurants and other things. We ate at two of the restaurants (one of which was suggested by another friend), and we were not disappointed. Being centrally located in the heart of Bologna, we could access everything in the center within minutes. When it was (sadly) time to leave, Maria assisted us in getting a taxi. We came to her B&B as strangers and left as friends. We will definitely stay again!

This past September we spent 5 memorable days at Bologna nel Cuore while travelling through Italy. Our room and the whole apartment were spotlessly clean, bright, quiet and well supplied, with attention to details we appreciated (well-equipped bathroom with magnifier mirror, adjustable bedside lamps, writing desk, spacious cupboard, large & comfortable double bed, etc.)
It’s well located, an easy walk to the central Piazza Maggiore, the Quadrilatero shops and restaurants, the Mercato delle Erbe, bus routes to the train station at Bologna Centrale, and even convenient for setting out on the strenuous walk up to the hilltop Sanctuary di San Luca overlooking the city (a highlight of our visit).
The morning breakfasts were a special delight with selections of fruit, cheeses, prosciutto, coffee & pastry & homemade jams, served in the warm and inviting front room.
Our host Maria is charming and extremely knowledgeable about Bologna’s history, art and numerous places to visit, sending a list of suggestions ahead of our arriving and helping us with restaurant reservations, navigating the city and making our stay a pleasure. We couldn't recommend Bologna nel Cuore more highly.

Bologna nel Cuore is magnificent! My partner and I stayed for three nights in the Topazio apartment in late September.We arrived by train after spending a week in Padua. We usually stay in hotels when we travel but decided to stay in bed and breakfast accommodations for this trip to Italy. Maria, our hostess, was very gracious and most helpful. She greeted us at the front door within a few minutes of our arrival by taxi. Taking the taxi from the train station was quick and easy. Maria took us to our apartment and gave us all the details we needed to make our stay comfortable.
The Topazio is a bright, spacious ,airy apartment decorated with hip, chic and comfortable furniture. The kitchen is fully stocked so you can enjoy morning coffee or cook a meal using the ingredients purchased at nearby markets and shops.The bedroom has excellent space to organize and store your clothing.The bed is very comfortable with lovely bed linens and pillows.The bathroom is very well appointed with large shower, double sink with plenty of space for your toiletries. There is a hair dryer . Just in case you forget a few things Maria has kindly provided a few items in the cabinet. I was delighted to find my favorite hairspray . There is a clothes washer with a dryer rack which was so convenient and easy to use.We were able to control the room temperature by opening the windows or turning on the air conditioner. WiFi was strong and consistent.
My only regret is that we were only in Bologna for a few days. Maria is passionate about her city which she encourages you to enjoy and explore by recommending restaurants, places to visit. We enjoyed our stimulating, timely and informative conversations with Maria.
We would stay again and will highly recommend Bologna nel Cuore to our friends . Thank you , Maria, for making our visit to Bologna so memorable!

My wife and I stayed in the Ruby apartment for 3 nights. The B&B is a short taxi ride (around 8 euro) from the central station and very central (5 minute walk from Piazza Maggiore). It is located on a small street with minimal traffic, and being on the first floor (there are stairs and an elevator), there was no noise. Maria's attention to detail in the apartment was superb; from a great nespresso machine, full size fridge, washing machine, great wifi and also many small design touches throughout the apartment (....and great A/C!). Maria also offered us breakfast inclusive of our stay as there was a clash of bookings - her breakfast was a highlight! Maria also gave some great local tips which we followed, and was always there if we needed anything. She was a fantastic host, and hopefully if we're back in Bologna we can stay again!

Maria is a great host - very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful and accommodating. I stayed in The Rubino and it was very comfortable, immaculate and perfect for the three nights I was there. The B&B is ideally situated close to the center of the old city and on a quiet street with an inner courtyard.. ( Also, Maria arranged a rapid COVID antigen test for me at a local pharmacy that was within several minutes walk of the B&B.)

We stayed in the Topazio apartment, a homey space with a large bathroom and seating areas in both the living room and kitchen area. Maria welcomed us and answered any questions we had during our stay, whether in person or over text, and she even booked us a taxi to the train station the morning of our departure. Although we didn't cook, all the amenities are there, and if you need to do laundry (like we did) the washer was fairly easy to figure out. We also enjoyed having a Nespresso machine at our disposal.

Our stay was as perfect as one could get in a B&B. We appreciated the gracious host, Maria, who added such wonderful conversation to our days and provided information about Bologna and recommendations for dining. The quality of the breakfast was outstanding and even better, the ample breakfast was served in a roomy dining and sitting area between our comfortable rooms.
In addition, one cannot beat the freshness of the produce and the local meats and cheeses of Bologna.

This is a lovely place to stay in a typical old building in the heart of Bologna. The room was immaculate - light and spacious and the bathroom was also well appointed with some extra small sachets of toiletries to try. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. We stayed for six nights in the Rubio Apartment. It has everything you might need--a very comfortable bed, a small kitchen (where we made breakfast every morning), a sitting area, two large windows overlooking a quiet courtyard, and a charming and warm hostess in the person of Maria Ketty. It is spotlessly clean, everything in excellent condition, and in easy walking distance of just about everything you might want to see or do in the older part of Bologna. Maria Ketty also provided an excellent list of restaurants in Bologna, which we took full advantage of. Highly recommended!

Maria is a wonderful host. We really enjoyed our stay in her beautiful Bologna apartment. The bedroom was large and comfortable and both it and the bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was wonderful too. Maria is a natural and was very helpful with suggestions and also booking taxis to get us to the train station, about a mile away.
The apartment is in a wonderful location, a 5-10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore.
I heartily recommend this experience and would love to return.
