Detailed Reviews
An absolutely beautiful place run by the most charming family. The view is stunning. The house and rooms are very good taste. The family is friendly and welcoming and relaxed. The place is laid back and peaceful. The children adored the animals (ducks, dogs, rabbits). Perfect for when visiting Urbino.
I cannot recommend it highly enough!

This is their first non Italian review! We really enjoyed our stay at Il Casale del Duca. A beautifully restored 16th century farmhouse in the heart of the Marche. Luca and Laura's passion and attention to detail is reflected throughout the house and their collection of doors over the years are beautifully placed within. Laura's interior decoration reflects a chic rustic style. Her talents from her creative backround as a theatre artist can be seen in all the rooms and the lovely country views create a perfect relaxing setting. It was lovely to share a meal with the family and their lovely girls. A great sleep, superb breakfast and Luca's other talent is making fabulous pastries and cakes. The work on the property is on going with the addition of a beautiful self contained accomodation all guaranteed to be fabulous and we are looking forward to returning one day.

A superb location a few kilometres north of Urbino and within sight of the city on the horizon across a beautiful view from the relaxing garden surrounding the house. Fascinating decor in what is a superb restoration. Spacious rooms and good breakfast. Don't be put off by how difficult it may be to find or by the evidence of on-going restoration: the fully completed parts of the house in which the accommodation, lounge and breakfast room are situated are magnificently Italian.

We had high hopes of this place after reading the reviews. It was very difficult to find so we thought it was just as well it was daylight and not evening. The drive is narrow and bumpy, in the middle of fairly remote countryside. The house was surrounded by wire fencing barring our entrance and there was no way we could even knock at the front door. No one was around; we called out, tried to squeeze through the fence and then drove to another nearby house where we tried to explain to the family who didn't speak any English that we were supposed to be staying at Il Casale del Duca. Finally we gave up and returned to the driveway outside the house. We tried phoning all the numbers we'd been given with no success. We had no idea what to do next, when I had a phonecall from the 'host' telling me that he was on the Swiss/German border, had a 'problem' and had forgotten to email us to let us know he couldn't accomodate us! What a way to run a business. He apologised, but we are still extremely angry at his unprofessionalism. Luckily it was early enough to look for alternative accomodation in the centre of Urbino but it nearly ruined that part of the holiday. You have been warned!

A beautifully restored house in wonderful countryside but cannot recommend. The tiled bedroom and bathroom were cold (late April). There were no rugs and the bathroom towels were old, thin and grey. However, our main comment was the unpleasant and unacceptable attitude adopted by Laura when the hot water failed. Booked for four days but stayed for just two, one without hot water and with no repair imminent. The property also has a difficult blind approach from and onto the access track. Felt it was over-priced compared with others. We have just spent 10 weeks in Italy and this was the only disappointment.
