Our accommodation is placed just close to the historical center and to the Vatican City and the metro A (Ottaviano-San Pietro station). This is a safe, elegant and lively but quiet place, also at the night-time. In Cola di Rienzo street (about 10 minutes walking) you can find many restaurants, cafes, food and fashion shops, among which Coin Excelsior and Tiffany’s.

The accommodation has everything you need. Self-check in was completely problem-free. The location of the property is perfect for exploring Rome on foot or by public transport. In the area there are all possibilities for restaurants and shops. Accommodation is nevertheless quiet.

I have stayed here 4 times in the last 3 months visiting my daughter who was studying abroad. New Design was the perfect place for my family and I! We had two rooms and the accommodations were so comfortable, extremely clean and perfect location! Stefania and Valeria were so helpful and extremely an accommodating! They booked car services for us, made restaurant recommendations and were extremely quick with responding! I would highly recommend staying here! We look forward to hopefully returning in the future!

First of all the location of the structure, very central. Located precisely in the Ottaviano district, reachable directly by metro A from Roma Termini station.

The property is located inside the 3rd of the 4th floor of an apartment building. Well-defined and cared for in the renovation, the structure is very welcoming and comfortable.

I found this hidden gem located in the Prati neighborhood of Rome. Very quiet neighborhood with many cafes and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Stefania and her staff did an amazing job. Room was very cozy. Thanks for everything and I hope I get the opportunity to visit again.

When got to Via Famagosta 8 there's a big wooden doors waiting for the entrance to the beautiful, quiet yard. Owners wife showed us the way with elevator ( please close all the elevator doors carefully when leaving from it otherwise elevator won't work when someone else tries to use it!) taking us to 4th floor to the hotel, that was actually like big apartment with separated rooms. Got total 4 keys to get to our room, so felt really safe. Didn't expect anything that beautiful before opened the door. Old gorgeous tiled ceiling in the high room combined together with modern furnitures and curtains. Toilet and shower were brand new, with rain shower and relaxing ledlights with different colors to choose from. Beds and pillows were really comfortable, linens and towels soft. All rooms are non-smoking rooms, guests could go to the yard for smoking. Owner Angelo and his wife took care of the room daily, beds were done, soaps and toilet papers were filled.
Location of the hotel was perfect, close to Vatican museums and St. Peters Basilica. Metro and busses we didn't use even if Angelo was showing us everything from the map, that we also got with us when left to town. At the day of the departure Angelo organized car to take us to Fiumincino airport and our luggages were taken to the restaurant, Luma Bistro, just next to the hotel to wait for us to finish shopping. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely go back next time when visiting Rome.
Grazie Mille Angelo!

I booked 3 nights at this hotel 4-5 months before my trip to Rome as a continuation to my cruise. It was a pre-paid and non-refundable reservation. When I got to the hotel, I was told there was no room! What bothers me was the hotel staff made me feel like it was my fault. They helped me find a room in a hotel after they took care of all their guests. It was there fault that they overbooked. The very least they could do is get us something to drink and to pay taxi to take us to the next hotel. Instead, they told me the new hotel was close by, minutes a away and pointed to the (wrong) building. It turned out to be 7-8 blocks away carrying/pushing our heavy suitcases on cobblestoned streets. I noticed that this hotel had very narrow hallway and tight spaces outside of the rooms. The new hotel was more spacious. So in a sense, it's a blessing in disguise that we did not stay there. The rating was mainly for the way we were treated when there was a problem that we had nothing to do with it.

Think of the city project Redbrick buildings of N.Y. but with nice Roman local families living in it. Now remodel a couple of the penthouse units and divide them into small rooms within the penthouse in the third and fourth floor. You just got your self the New Design St. Peter. The elevator is the old mechanical small type. Safer to take the stairs. You have a key for the outside door of the apartment complex, a key for your building, an electronic access code to enter the common "penthouse" area, and finally the key to your individual room. You either feel safe or inside the jailhouse. I felt the ladder. The bed was sinking in the middle, the bath area is the size of a small RV. The area close to the Vatican is not the cleanest area in Rome. I would strongly recommend the area close to the Trevi Fountain. The Vatican is only a two day visit, one for the Vatican, another for the St Peter Basilica. Anything else worth to see is on the opposite side of the lake. I was very disappointed on how poorly maintain is the area just outside the Vatican fortress. Angelo is very polite and he is a savvy businessman. But this does not eliminate the fact that this unit is overpriced. This is the equivalent of a motel 8 unit in the U.S.

We visited Roma with kids and booked 2 bedrooms in this well located and quiet guest house. The bedrooms are very clean, well equipped with comfortable beds. Angelo welcomed us as friends and provided smart advices to visit Roma and find nice restaurants. Breakfast were excellent with fresh foods and fruits.

I deeply recommend to stay in this guest house if you want to be in a quiet area close to Vaticano (5 minutes max) and the subway (station ottaviono is 3 minutes from the hotel and reach the main spots).

We are from Puerto Rico and on our recent honeymoon and first visit to Rome, we booked this Guesthouse for nine days and it was the best decision we made. Don't be deceived by it's first look outside. It's located in a quiet walkthrough with apartments, but once you arrive inside, it is small and perfect to relax after a long day of walking and sightseeing. It is close to the Vatican and you can walk to most of the tourist locations (Fontana di Trevi, Spanish Steps, Castel San Angelo, Panteon, among others). Our host Angelo was very helpful from the beginning, arranging for transportation from the airport on the day of our arrival. We had the suite with the jacuzzi in it and the shower had chromotherapy, which was very relaxing. The room was always clean, very comfortable bed, access to wifi and each day we picked our breakfast from a list which was brought the next morning by Angelo himself. We miss those amazing cappuccinos and the Italian bread for our sandwiches. Angelo recommended places to visit and restaurants to eat, marking them off on a map and was always very attentive in ensuring that we enjoyed our stay. We would stay here if we ever visit Rome again because Angelo and his staff did an amazing job at making you feel comfortable and having the best experience in their Guest House which was perfect for our honeymoon. Lots of thanks, David and Marie

We stayed 4 nights at the New Design St.Peter and can certainly recommend it. Our room was excellent, spotlessly clean and very modern also with free wi-fi and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel owner Angelo was extremely helpful and gave us much advice and tips about places to visit and to eat at night. It is only 5 minutes walk from the Vatican and so ideal to visit St.Peter's and 2 minutes from a Metro station so you can get to the other main sights such as the Colosseum very quickly if you are sort on time. The breakfast was superb every morning and Angelo could not do enough for us - would certainly be happy to go again!

How do you get from the airport to your hotel?
Answer from Jorge F
Indialantic, Florida4 contributions7 helpful votes
its more of a car service than a taxi........and well worth the 50 Euro........(am a cheap-o when travelling, so I don't state this lightly) particularly, since the driver knows where to go, traffic can be an expensive hassle, etc. Call the owner who is most gracious and helpful
