As there is mixed reviews on this property I am going to try and give my most accurate review of the hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed here due to being students and needing a cheaper hotel near the sites in Rome to save money and this is exactly what this hotel is! As mentioned in the previous reviews the... More

My partner and I stayed here recently for a short break to Rome and had a wonderful time. Rather than a hotel, it is a lovely B&B (and advertises itself as such). Our room was large, light and airy with a queen size bed, and was immaculate. The place seems to attract couples and older travellers, so was nice and... More

Very good B&B! Hard to find but once you do it is great! The location is perfect, two blocks from the termini station and great resturants within walking distance. Breakfast is light but good, unlimited bread. Walking distance of the colosseum/roman forum. Room is nice, cleaned daily. Would stay there again!

We went to Rome in the midst of summer, and therefore we wanted a hotel with a swimmingpool, to cool off. Hotels.com said this place had a pool, and even some reviews mentioned the pool. Of course there were no pool. Not even decent AC. Here is a list of other things we were promised, that wasn't fullfilled. We ordered... More

Very rude and unhelpful staff, particularly the guest house's owner Marta. Besides, it is far from being a design hotel as they claim on internet, it is indeed a very basic accommodation and guest house - in fact, it is the owner's home and she simply rents very basic rooms. Also, Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms. On top,... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in July this year. Firstly, I should point out that the hotel doesnt have a street facing front, so it can be a little tricky to find. You go through two large gates into a little inner courtyard and the building housing the hotel is in there. For location this hotel deserves 5 stars..... More

We booked a room through expedia.com for April 29th and 30th. Prior to leaving home for a 15 night cruise I sent an email to reconfirm our booking and time of our arrival. Marta the host of Contemporaneo sent back an email confirming the details. When we arrived in Rome I showed my origianal confirmation from expedia and the email... More

The location is perfect but the owner, Marta, is rude. She asked us for our voucher, but we didn't had one. We simply booked online and paid by creditcard. She charged us twice a few months ago by creditcard. Very curious. She completely forgot her hospitality, no smile at all. At our departure we needed to pay the tourist tax... More

Very close to Roma Termini Station, housed in a peculiar building shared by a few tenants, more like a apartment rang the buzzer downstairs, and she opened the door downstairs, room was very spacious, bathroom was ok if you are used to hotel styled rooms this isn't it this is more like bed & breakfast but worth it, you are... My wife and I found Contemporaneo Rooms to be comfortable and clean. It is withing walking distance of the Colosseum, Termini train station (which has the 64 bus line to Centro Storico and the Vatican). We could not find either of Marta's restaurant suggestions and the H bus which she indicated on the map did not take us to where... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
