Visited Rome for 7 nights and booked the A Roma for 5 of those. After staying central for the first 2 nights we moved out to this hotel for some R&R. On arrival late Saturday afternoon we were swiftly greeted and checked in and had our room upgraded for free and felt we were off to a good start. The rooms are big spacious and clean and the complimentary mini bar was a plus! We had breakfast included and have to say that the breakfast buffet is fine and probably what I would expect of a 4 star hotel, a good variety of hot and cold food and reasonable quality. On our first full day we went down to the pool early and managed to get a couple of sun beds however, must point out that if you do stay over a weekend the hotel is packed out with guests using the spa and this includes use of the outdoor pool, so the sun loungers tend to fill up quickly and after 10am you’ll be lucky to get round the pool. I must also point out that although the hotel lists itself as a spa/wellness hotel, it seems to be used an awful lot by young families and isn’t necessarily the most relaxing spot at times. Echoing other reviews the hotel is a fair drive out from the centre and a taxi or Uber costs around €20-€25 euros. The hotel has a shuttle service for just €5 per person which goes into the centre 4 times a day and you have to book this as far in advance as possible as it actually only seats 6/7 people a time. We were only able to use the service on one occasion and it’s a great service if you can take advantage of it! If you can’t or don’t want to get out, the hotel has 2 restaurants but we were only able to use the 1 and didn’t get to use the buffet as it isn’t open all week. We had 2 ok meals at the Il Gardino restaurant, nothing to rave over and probably a lot more expensive than the city centre, on both occasions we paid around €45 for 2 mains and 2 drinks. Biggest negative to take away, the hotel is rampant with mosquitos and not 24 hours after our arrival we were covered in insect bites, further into our stay the bites continued and it became quite uncomfortable, we actually decided we would check out of the hotel early as to be honest we were pretty disappointed with the hotel and our decision to stay there. When we approached reception to do so we were told that they could spray our room with mosquito spray and ask the cleaners not to open the windows whilst cleaning however, for us it was too late for that 2 and a half days into our stay and 30+ mosquito bites between us later, we’d quite frankly had enough and couldn’t stand the idea of staying another night. For a 4 star hotel with such great ratings and given its green location, of course you might expect the odd insect bite etc but generally I would expect this kind of thing to be under control. After multiple discussions with reception and the shift manager we did check out 2 nights early and booked an alternative hotel for the last couple of nights of our holiday. We paid our final bill and took the hit with the penalty which was the cost of another nights stay and left. On our return home we realised that the hotel had actually charged us too much, we had been charged for increased nightly rate and also for city tax - we know we have to pay city tax however our hotel booking confirmation states city tax is included in the price we had agreed and booked, this dispute is still ongoing at the moment and unfortunately has left a sour taste. Overall this is not somewhere I would recommend and definitely wouldn’t consider returning.…
Fantastic stay for myself and a friend for my birthday, even with the one of the bars closed due to covid we had a lovely stay. Amazing Breakfast, very clean and friendly welcoming staff. The only downside was it wasn't very close anything else. However we found the best Gelato just up the road, much better than the ones we tried in Rome itself. The bar staff made our stay, we enjoyed trying different cocktails and even asked for some not on the menu. It wasn't a problem, in fact the staff seemed to really enjoy the challenge. Would definitely visit again but possibly hire a car this time.
Over all a nice stay, clean rooms , very friendly helpful staff , nice facilities , on the negative side it's out the way but only 15 mins by tram to the centre and breakfast was cold every day, also could do with more vegan options for breakfast
We visited Rome and stayed at the A.Roma Lifestyle Hotel for a week. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is lovely, clean and the room was very nice. The air con was good and the bed was really big and comfortable. Most of the staff were really friendly although there were several times when you couldn’t get to speak to reception because of the long queues that seemed ever present. We were given a key to a room when we arrived but when we got to it, the bed was unmade and it hadn’t been cleaned. The front desk apologised, escorted us to a different room and gave us each a voucher for a free drink at the bar. The pool area is lovely and the sun was on it all day. There were some issues with sun loungers and you had to get down fairly early to get one. The hotel markets itself as a wellbeing and lifestyle hotel but the number of children and loud families there was at odds with the idea that this is a relaxing spa hotel! The restaurant food is a mixed bag- some is lovely and some is a little bizarre or not good value for money so choose carefully! There is much by way of bars and food around the hotel so not much choice. Good choice of drinks. The hotel is great if you want a break by a pool and you aren’t too bothered about going into central Rome each day. It is about a 20 minute taxi ride into Rome (about 20€) so it is a little far out. The hotel does a limited shuttle into Rome or there is a tram you can get however this is a 20 min walk from the hotel and it’s pretty uphill! Also, the hotel had run out of the tickets to purchase for the tram. The only other place you can buy them is a tobacconist (?!) and it took us 40 minutes walking to find one that was open. We got taxis after this!! Overall, despite the above, it is a lovely hotel and we had a great week. Just be prepared to travel to get food, drinks or into the sites of Rome.…
