I stayed at this hostel last summer and I was pleasantly surprised. I had never stayed at a youth hostel before but everyone was so nice and it was an amazing experience! It's located in the middle of the historic area so if you're just wandering around you can't avoid seeing some historical monument. The Colosseum for instance is only... More

It was so much fun! I met some great people and shared our experiences. They cooked us dinner with no extra charge which was a nice touch! They... More

Worst hostel ever . Rude staff. Dirty rooms and bathroom area. General weird atmosphere. Too many people in small room. Locked out during day. Would not recommend this hostel to my dog. I have stayed in many hostels. This is the worst experience I've had

Ignore the bad reviews! I've stayed here twice whilst travelling, coming back the second time purposely because of how fun the first time was. Owner was friendly, amazing atmosphere and great location! Highly recommend!

Ivanhoe Hostel is a party hostel, so if go in expecting a full 9 hours of sleep it may not be the hostel for you. That being said, the staff is really nice and full of helpful tips about the city. They like to host beer pong and pasta nights so that the guests can socialize. I met some really... More

This was the first hostel I stayed in while traveling Europe. I thought all hostels were going to be like this - thank God they weren't. The hostel is in a decent neighborhood, which I did appreciate - a lot of center city Rome is tourist seedy. My friends and I were exhausted and elected not to go out on... More

Literally the most disgusting place ever, have stayed in a few hostels in my time and this is definitely the worst. Words can't describe the lack of cleanliness in the hostel, it's not even basic. You should go there with anti-bacterial, would go as far as saying bleach. Don't know when they last changed the bed sheets, got bed bugs... More

To start things off, this place is disgusting. I went in not having high expectations because it is described as a "party hostel." However, it still went below my expectations. If you want to be hot and sweaty, afraid to walk around without shoes, have disgusting bathrooms, and what seemed to be a place that was never cleaned. Here ya... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
