we booked the hotel as it had a roof restaurant and bar which we intended to use every night with the views across the city but when we got there we were told it was shut for refurbishments and werent even allowed to go up there to see the view if we had been informed of this we would have delayed our stay until it was open but the hotel is within walking distance of all the major attractions and the staff were nice.
Pros - hotel is clean, bright, quirky, near the Vatican City and has some great places to eat within walking distance! I'll be reviewing these separately. Reception staff lovely and helpful. Fair price for a well located hotel room. Cons - issues with lighting in room #1 and then in our second room the TV didn't work (but we don't really come on holiday for the TV, so depends on what you're looking for). This and a wonky shower are the only reason for 4 stars. Overall - nice hotel, clean and cleaned whilst we were there which was great as we were only staying 3 nights, rooms just had a few small issues. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. The hotel is a short walk from Ottoviano Metro station, get the metro A line to Battistini from Rome Termini Station and you'll come out a few streets away. When arrived at Orange Hotel, there was someone on reception and we quickly got checked in and paid our city tax (about €3 per day, per person, so €6 per day). We were given our room key and room number and headed off to drop off our bags before going to find an evening meal. On our return from dinner our room key worked fine to let us in but failed to turn on the lights at all. We asked someone at reception and they came up and tried the lights, after checking the fuse box the receptionist went to sort us an alternative room. Was sorted quickly and receptionist was apologetic even though it wasn't their fault the lights wouldn't work. Room #2 seemed just as good. Once settled in, we found the TV didn't work, despite following the instructions, not really an issue as we weren't planning to be in much anyway. The shower was a bit awkward as it wouldn't adjust angles but did the job needed. Nothing really major for us and the reception staff were lovely. We noted luggage storage by the side entrance (opposite side to the reception entrance) so that's handy if you're staying longer and have cases but we only had a small bag each and so didn't use this facility. We loved the location of this hotel and think its great if you enjoy walking and sightseeing under your own steam. …
Awful hotel, swapped rooms from one you would have to sit sideways on the toilet to one with a shower that dribbled lukewarm water. Restaurant was closed, as were other amenities. Staff were great and location was excellent. Hostel at best, 4star hotel it is not
Restaurant was closed for restoration even though it was still being advertised as open. Room absolutely filthy, rude staff, such a disappointment. Have complained to the hotel direct and to our holiday company.
We stayed for a week. Very good location!!! Hotel, however, is not 4 star in my opinion. Nothing was missing though - clean rooms, friendly staff, and nice environment. Rooms were not cleaned everyday, but in general it was an okay stay. Minus - the hygiene stuff (shower gel etc.) were not being refilled.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend through easyjet and it was honestly everything we needed. Massive room with a king sized bed and a massive en-suite. It was room only and we spent a lot of time sight seeing, but when we were in need of a rest this hotel is greatly located near both Vatican City and Rome center. Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, as everything we wanted was able to be catered for. The rooftop bar isn’t open which we were aware of, and things like luggage storage was available along with a mini shop by reception. Really enjoyable stay, thank you :)
I arrived on Wednesday, the room was ok and clean to an extent. On Friday night I noticed that my Pandora bracelet was missing. The reception was no help at all and had claimed I had ‘misplaced’ I asked them for their cleaning company’s number and got the response ‘we can’t disclose this information’ , yet they can let a thief into my hotel room to root through my belongings and steal my bracelet. The receptionist was very rude and abrupt. Not helpful at all. I have searched high and low for this ‘misplaced’ bracelet and I know exactly where I had left it, in a safe place which has been rummaged through. I would steer very clear of this hotel, it is a joke. Do not stay here!!!!!
This has to be the worst place we have ever stayed . Firstly this is absolutely NOT a hotel. It is a run down, dirty hostel at best. Damp on the walls of the bedroom, rust and limescale on the shower head, small hairs found on the bed and floor on arrival. I heart sank on arrival, this was meant to be a lovely trip for my partners 30th birthday, which was tainted from the very start. The pictures shown on LoveHolidays website where I book the holiday are a lie, the room and hotel look nothing like what was advertised. Noisy every day and night, partying outside our window and bottles being emptied into bins around 1am which kept us awake every night. The room has a joining door to the room next to us so you could hear everything, snoring, talking and the tv. The only positive like others have mentioned is the location. but i would rather walk further and have a clean hotel. Would definitely not recommend this to anyone.…
This has to be the worst place we have ever stayed . Firstly this is absolutely NOT a hotel. This at best is a 1 star hostel . As soon as ee enter the place my husband and I looked at each other with a feeling of dread . We booked through easy jet holidays , whose when we complained were useless . This place is filthy ,run down and a disgrace for anyone who expects even basic hygiene and facilities. The air conditioning was filthy and broken . Please see attached photos . Thr bed was made of orange plastic , with a basic sheet and no blankets . We asked for blankets and was given a thin worn out one. It's the exact same blanket I buy from IKEA for my cat to lay on outside . The bathroom was an absolute joke. Leaking sink and mould in the shower. No toilet seat. We was able to change room after complaining . Only to find someone had taken a dump in the bathroom and block the shower. Room hadn't been cleaned from last guests . So we had to quickly go back to the original room. I heard another guest complaining at reception about the state of the room. The tiny outside area is unclean ,over flowing bins and cigarette butt's on tables . Having travelledany times , I jave stayed in basic 2 star self catering , which far exceeded in standards than this place. I have put a complaint into easy jet for false advertising the orange hotel as a 4 star . When infact it should either be shut down for refurbishment or advertised as an unclean hostel. Positives Walking distance to Vatican. Although miles from anywhere else.…
The hotel is situated in a really good location just beside the walls of the Vatican. It was only a 5 minute walk to get into St Peters Square. The hotel is set back a street from the Main Street and so is quieter in the day and evenings and relatively noise free, we didn’t experience any noise in the nights and just heard bins being collected early one morning. There are nice restaurants along the street and also a small supermarket very close by. The hotel is very close to main shopping areas and plenty of cafes and pharmacies are near by. The hotel itself is small and nicely decorated. It is very modern and has a good air conditioning system. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. the restaurant on the top floor was closed during our stay so we didn’t at on the premises but there is a huge selection of local restaurants to choose from. Our room had a fridge that didn’t work, we didn’t contact reception about it as we were out all day and ate out in the evenings and didn’t have use for it. We were supplied with plenty of clean towels and toiletries. In the five days that we stayed the room was cleaned twice and the sheets and towels weren’t changed. We requested new towels ourselves and the ladies were more than happy to provide them for us. We had a very positive experience in the hotel and would definitely stay again if we come back to Rome. The location was ideal for us and we felt very welcomed and happy with the facilities in the hotel.…
