We get there right after the airport. It was late , 23h00 the host was waiting for us he explained every activities we could do during our stay in roma and gave us a map where he wrote a walk for us. Very friendly and the room was nice , quiet and clean. Nice place!

I would absolutely echo comments from the people I met there and indeed written on here - this is less of a hostel than just a apartment/room. Nevertheless, the room is nice (no bunk bed) and clean. The bathroom was old and not always entirely clean, but it would be wrong to penalise management for this; as a lot of...

For about €25, I don't know exactly what I was expecting. Very low quilts rooms, with visible grit on the walls and showers . The check-in is located in a laundromat, which is confusing. No common areas to speak of and wifi is intermittent . Sheets were not changed throughout the stay.

Johnny was very helpful during our check in, he gave us a lot of great instructions about sightseeing in the city and also gave us a free upgrade to a private bathroom room (which I think they often do if they have ensuite rooms that are not booked by other guests). Thumbs up!

I had paid for 3nights in a private en suite double room and I was not impressed. On arrival my partner and I had to sit in the middle of a launderette - not the typical reception area I was expecting. We were shown to our room to find it to be dated and dirty. Our double bed consisted of...

You mostly get what you pay for - and this is the case with Funny Palace. Old, not very comfortable beds and thin walls inside the room makes it somewhat hard to sleep - but I guess you cannot expect more for around 20 Euros in an expensive city like Rome. It is a decent place if you are travelling...

My friends and I were in Florence and decided to head to Rome for the weekend. We needed some place that was decent and conveniently located. It was then when we stumbled upon Funny Palace. Though its name may sound well, funny, it was a great place to stay and it was more than we could ask for! In addition...

The hostel is right next to Termini/main train station, which means you can easily take Metro [underground] anywhere in Rome and it's only two stops from Colosseum.. The bus company Terravision takes you there right from the airport for 4 Euro, and from the station you can just walk directly to the hostel. It is pretty easy to find. We...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
