We booked this based on our available points and it was worth everyone one of them. Roughly one week ahead of us arriving the hotel reached out asking about arrival times, transportation from the airport, and potential reservations for dinner. We were blown away! Marco and his team got us reservations for a near by restaurant and also got us a black car from the airport to the hotel (additional cost). Once we arrived, Marco was there to greet us and Dom checked us in. Our room wasn’t quite ready once we arrived, but that was because we were early. It was worth waiting though as they stored our bags and provided Prosecco in the drawing room. The overall hotel was immaculate. A true historic hotel with a lovely garden area. The staff was at your call for anything they could help with. Breakfast was available, but we never partake as we were out prior to it starting. Also, drinks were available from 17:00 to 22:00 in the drawing rooms. They were great choices too. The overall room was beautiful. Very clean and had all the amenities we required. After returning from our dinner, they even provided a turn-down service. The bed was enjoyable as we needed a good nights rest after our long haul. Also, they provided a charge station for those wanting to charge their electronic devices and weren’t from Italy. The room was equipped with heat, but we never used it. We didn’t check for AC. The mini bar was stocked and at your disposal, as it was apart of your hotel charge (free). During our stay, the team did a couple things that we saw as above and beyond. The first was providing us a taxi to our tour for the Vatican. They got it there in under 5 minutes and it was at the front door waiting for us. Lastly, was a fresh espresso and americano prior to their morning services. This meant a lot as we had an early out and nothing would be open for a couple hours. This seemed to be the trend with Villa Spalletti Trivelli; ensuring your stay was above and beyond. We look forward to staying there on our last day prior to heading home!

Room Tip: We did use their black car service which was 75 euro. We walked the area and never used any other...

This is a grand old home converted into a small and elegant hotel. The first floor reception rooms are very large with elegant and comfortable furnishings, lots of architectural details, and lovely antiques. We stayed 3 nights and liked the hotel and the food so well we ate all of our dinners there, in the garden. The hotel very generously provided wines and drinks at 5pm (til 10pm), and a free minibar. It was fun to meet other guests. The breakfast was very good, with the best possible omelet and freshly baked and delicious cakes. Our room looked over an elevated park. Villa Spalletti is very well located, in an excellent neighborhood close to the Trevi Fountain and walking distance to the Roman forum and Colosseum. Excellent professional staff including servers. Highly recommend.

The building is wonderful and in a fantastic location. It is beautifully furnished and exudes charm. We stayed there five days. Unfortunately the breakfast service consistently lets the Villa down. It is slow, at best, typically unsmiling, and lacking any initiative Further, I am coeliac and the gluten free options are disappointing. When we raised our concerns with the Front Desk we were fobbed off with platitudes. I obtained the real impression that they had no interest in addressing the issues raised.

Dear Peter, Thank you very much for sharing your comments and impressions about Villa Spalletti Trivelli. We are very happy to hear that you appreciated the location and the charm of the Villa. We are very sorry, on the other hand, to read your comments about the breakfast service and our staff interest in your complaint. We would like to mention that we offer all the highest quality gluten free products we can find amongst our suppliers. The same products 99% of five star hotels all around Italy offer. Until today not a single coeliac guest complained about the quality of our breakfast and gluten free products. We are sure back home you have eggs, sausages and bacon cooked in no time, and we would love to learn your secret, but unfortunately here at Villa Spalletti we still pride ourselves in doing things properly and serving our food cooked in the best possible way and, unfortunately, quality requires a bit of time and patience (this long forgotten word). If you were in a rush you could have gone for some fresh fruit, the cold cuts, the cheeses or simply a slice of gluten free cake, the one my staff (the same one “lacking any initiative”) prepared appositely for you, twice! We are very proud of our staff and all their efforts to satisfy the most demanding guests always putting on a smile no matter how rudely they are sometimes treated, apparently some people are just impossible to please. Last but not least you mention that our Front desk staff “fobbed you off with platitudes”. We are really sorry they did not give you the discount you were so clearly hoping for. They politely listened to your complaint, as they always do, and tried to clarify by explaining exactly which products we pick and why and how the Villa works. You can always disagree with our motivations and reasons but this does not give you the right to mark them as “platitudes” and disrespect hard working people who are there to try as hard as they can to make your stay as smooth and pleasant as possible. We are very sorry that Villa Spalletti did not meet your expectations but happy you will not make the same mistake again.

It has been a bit over year since my last visit to Rome. This time, I decided to return to the Villa with my daughter. We enjoyed the elegant atmosphere, while eating breakfast outside in the garden. After sightseeing all day, we returned late afternoon to relax and unwind with refreshments in the spacious living rooms, garden or on the rooftop. We even enjoyed a dip in the jacuzzi a few times which is totally refreshing after a full day of touring. The staff are friendly, always willing to assist and trustworthy (forgot some jewelry on the nightstand, left my laptop on the desk and all was in place when I returned). The rooms are very clean, airy with high ceilings. The bathrooms are spacious and include all the modern amenities. The location is very central, close to many tourist attractions, like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, but far enough so that you can enjoy the tranquil ambience when you need to disconnect. Looking forward to my next visit with my husband. 😊

Villa Spalletti is a great boutique hotel with a central location very close to Trevi Fountain yet in a quiet area ways from swarms of tourists. The modern rooftop and garden are both beautiful with plenty of seating, and the lobby is also quite cool with antique furniture. We really enjoyed the free evening drinks - numerous liquors, mixers, garnishes and recipes to make your own cocktails. Staff overall was super friendly, although only on our last morning the woman at the front and our breakfast server (who were not the regulars) were a bit rude.

A boutique hotel that will make you feel at home. Villa Spalletti is a former estate reborn as a small hotel. That said, you feel more like a friend staying at a very wealthy cousin's city mansion. Authentically and tastefully decorated in old-world style, the house is open to you, with many sitting rooms and common areas to enjoy. Hallways are spacious and luxuriously appointment. Guestrooms themselves are large, with vey high ceilings and tasteful decorations. Bathrooms are large and with all the modern conveniences. Service is outstanding, and breakfast on a sunny day in the courtyard garden is not to be missed. Location is outstanding; central, but two blocks off the beaten path in a quiet square. stunning.

Booked this hotel months in advance as part of a wider tour of Italy. Hotel cancelled room while I am in Italy during sold out weekend for no apparent reason (I had a pay onsite reservation) and no attempt to make a phone call to me. Will not book again, would discourage US-based travelers to look elsewhere for a hotel that will ensure you're not left stranded in a foreign country.

Dear Austin, We are really sorry to read your review. You indeed had a reservation for a room booked through an OTA with payment at the property. Our policy, clearly stated on the OTA website and booking page, says that 14 days prior to arrival we charge the entire amount of stay, here it is: You will be charged a prepayment of the total price of the reservation in the 14 days before arrival. We tried to charge the card on August 20th and the transaction was declined twice. At this point we contacted you through the extranet of the OTA, as per our agreement with our partner, asking for a valid card to confirm the booking. On the extranet the message was highlighted as “read” by you and we waited over 24 hours for you to get back to us with a new credit card. When we never heard back from you we, as per our policy, canceled the booking as it was not guaranteed by a valid credit card. I am really sorry you took it so personally but we did what we could in order to reach out to you on this matter and give you a chance to reconfirm the booking. We would have also appreciated very much if instead of going online and posting this review you contacted us instead. The moment you received the cancellation you could have reached out (our contact details can be easily found all over the internet, and we included them in our message to you) to clarify what happened and supply us with a new card. It would have been a lot easier and more serious rather than misleading anyone who accidentally read your review.

My mom and I had a glorious two days at this gorgeous hotel in Rome. The hotel rooms and the grounds are just stunning. But what makes this hotel so wonderful are the kind and welcoming staff, who are so knowledgeable about the city. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again on my next trip to Rome! Tip - If you have the budget for it, it's worth it to get a larger room facing the rear gardens! If the hotel ever has the resources to add a pool to the internal courtyard gardens this hotel would be truly spectacular!

After a couple of years of not traveling due to Covid, we were apprehensive about our anticipated and long-awaited adventure in Italy. We started in Rome, and although we have been to Rome numerous times, we had not discovered VST until now. But, better late than never!! The villa is the epitome of the small luxury hotel. I want to start with the staff, because they were absolutely fantastic, to a person. We could not have felt more welcome, or more valued, so thank you to all the wonderful people working at this property. The villa itself is gorgeous - filled with museum-quality art and antiques. We felt like the honored guests of some very generous friends/family with impeccable taste. The room itself was quite large, very quiet (extremely important to us as we began to unwind from jet lag and stress), and quite comfortable. We visited Rome in a heatwave, and the A/C was excellent (something I can't say about some of the other places we stayed while away). The bed was a little firmer than we prefer, but everything else was PERFECT. The bed linens are actually linen, if this matters to you. The food selection at breakfast is lovely. The garden is divine. There are complimentary beverages available all over the place - the minibar is stocked and complimentary. There is an afternoon cocktail service in the living room, again complimentary. As well, there is a smaller free bar on the roof, where there is also a jacuzzi (didn't want to slip into a pool of hot water when the temperature outside was about what I expect the temperature of the water was, but it is a nice touch!) We look forward to our next visit to Rome, in large part so we can stay again at VST!!

We stayed her on our second leg of our time in Rome--just for one night. At the beginning of the trip we had been staying closer to the Pantheon. This location is much quieter which we were happy about. The rooms are very large by European standards and the bathroom was giant and gorgeous. The entire hotel is very, very elegant. The staff we encountered were beyond helpful and friendly but it is definitely a formal atmosphere. There are courtesy bars all over the hotel which is a wonderful, homey touch. The roof top is very private and luxurious as are the gardens. We'll definitely stay again but we definitely felt "edgier" than the place and the other guests we encountered. We still felt very, very welcome and comfortable but this is a place one might refer to as having "old world elegance."
