We stayed at this hotel for a very short layover trip to Rome (two nights). TripAdvisor steered us to this hotel, and we were not disappointed. First all of the pros: The location: Let's be honest, most of the area around Termini isn't that nice, but the Hotel Diocleziano is on a relatively clean and quiet street. It is a... More

This hotel is great for its location. Its 25 minutes walk to all the major areas in Rome, except for the Vatican (45-50 minute walk). It is literally a 4-6 minute walk to the metro station. The metro station has buses to go to and back from the airport for 5 euro each way. Very nice staff. Breakfast was good.... More

The hotel is a 4 Star hotel, but it doesn't feel like it. The rooms are very small, the amenities are not up to the mark and the worst part is the toilet. The hotel staff is nice and they are trying their best to make your stay comfortable but the problem is -- The hotel should never have been... More

Dear Agnimitra, Many thanks for your review. We are very glad to hear that you were happy with our staff and service. On the other hand, we are sorry that you were left under the impression that our hotel didn't belong in the 4-star category. We are entitled to present ourselves as a 4-star hotel because the National Tourism Board... More

We landed in Rome and car share service dropped us off 250mtr from the hotel. The location is the best part of the hotel but unfortunately it ends there. The room is tiny and barely accommodates the bed. The bathroom is so tiny one cant sit straight on the WC. The breakfast spread is tiny especially for vegetarians and the... More

Dear akshay j, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn only now about your discomfort during your stay; although the room you were assigned corresponded exactly to the tipology you acquired, we would have tried to find a solution to make your stay with us a pleasant one. The Hotel Diocleziano offers different room types, that also... More

This hotel stay was excellent. The rooms were of a good size and updated. There was a refrigerator in each room with free water and soft drinks. The bathroom was small but clean, up-to-date and with all necessary amenities including complimentary house shoes. I stayed in a standard room as a single occupant and my brother and his wife were... First time to Rome and this hotel was ideal for our 5 nights whilst exploring this magnificent city. Professional and very friendly staff made us welcome from the moment we checked in and the room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the freshly squeezed orange juice delicious! Location is very convenient for the main train station... More

My wife and I just finished our first 3 days of our honeymoon there and had a fantastic visit. We didn't request a honeymoon upgrade (or at least not directly so can't fault the hotel) but room was very clean and comfortable. AC was great and needed seeing how it was august. The showers they have allow water from shower... More

This has to be one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. Doreen and her staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The hotel is super clean and the amenities are abundant. There are three desktop computers available to the guests for instant internet access. The wifi is easy and quite efficient.... More

In a quieter area of the city, but great place to stay. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and accommodations. Very clean and modern. Nice little restaurants around the corner (Rifuguio Romano) and a great bakery a block away. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone!!

We stayed here before our cruise and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and a great value. We arrived to find glass bottles of water, ice, glass glasses (rather than plastic) and a few cookies. I had realized that I had forgotten my sunglasses at home and had to buy new ones in a time crunch. The man at the front... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
