It started out bad, which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. The night before our arrival we received an email that we were being transferred to Lux from the original hotel we booked due to over-booking. We read the bad reviews here and weren't happy about it. We arrived around 23:00 and received a room with 2 single... More

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at Hotel Lux for our wedding anniversary. The staff certainly make the hotel. Luigi is a star on reception. He spent time showing where and how to get to places of interest on Rome. We did not go anywhere without his detailed map. We arrived 2 hours before check in and our... More

We were unsure what to expect prior to our stay at Hotel Lux as our travel agent had booked it for us without us really looking too much at the facilities etc. Thankfully, we weren't disappointed. The hotel was clean with a fridge for our drinks, a safe and plenty of storage for our clothes. There was a good choice... More

Very conveniently located from Metro and Termini Station which is handy for transport to and from the airport! Generally satisfactory! Rooms are adequate although on the small side. Television is very small. So is the shower with flimsy panels. It is frustrating that Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby and not in the rooms. Even in the lobby it is... More

This really is a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. On return I looked up in the UK what is supposed to be a 4 star which does of course indicate facilities rather than the quality of an establishment. On this basis and my own experience for 3 days we as a couple make this assessment. The reception... More

The staff were friendly and very attentive to all our needs. Luigi went above and beyond to make our stay awesome, making dinner reservations and suggesting great places in Rome to venture off. Gianluca always greeted us with a smile and also went above and beyond providing us with Wifi troubleshooting. Tomas in addition to the above front desk staff... More

CLEANING: Every day I had to remove myself pieces of bread under the sheets. Oh, I'd like to remember: I have not eaten bread in the room in any of the days with guest. CONFORT: Rome, 31C - What do you expect from a 4 star hotel? Of course, Air Conditioning !! I realized that in our room was not... More

Small and no comfortable bathroom; no restaurant in the hotel; no wifi on the bedrooms. This is not a 4 starts hotel. But the employees are are atencious, the hotel is next is next to the train and bus station (termini) and the breakfast is not so bad. The tv has only italian channels.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
