Via Margutta is magical, with enchanting atmospheres and a special charm all its own. As one of the most beautiful streets in Rome, it attracts artists, literati and movie directors. This street used to be lined with warehouses and stables located behind the palazzos of Via del Babuino. These later became artisan shops, painters studios and antique stores (celebrated in the curious Fontana degli Artisti), thus creating the special ambiance that prevails today and welcomes visitors to Via Margutta. Hotel Forte is privileged among 3-star hotels in Rome since it is located precisely on this famous street (Via Margutta 61) welcoming guests in charming rooms with typical Roman friendliness. Today Via Margutta has preserved its unique atmosphere and decor, and is one of the most elegant and beautiful of Rome. Here you will find top fashion houses and boutiques, coffee shops and exclusive restaurants, as well as picturesque and typical markets. What's more, every year, during the month of October there is the traditional Mostra dei Cento Pittori (Exhibition of One hundred Painters), an art show featuring Italian and international artists involving the whole street making for a very colorful festival. Many other typically Roman and international fairs take place in Via Margutta which attract VIP from the entertainment and fashion world and contribute in creating an exclusive and truly special environment. Through the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti (Spanish Steps) you can get to Villa Borghese Park, the gorgeous Rome city park with buildings, gardens, small lakes, the famous Galoppatoio that hosts horse races in Piazza di Siena, and Galleria Borghese, an extraordinary collection of masterpieces by great artists (Bernini, Caravaggio, Rubens, Titian, Canova, etc.).Roman Holiday, other movies, songs and people of Via Margutta. The house of Gregory Peck where Audrey Hepburn takes refuge in the unforgettable movie Roman Holiday can be admired at Via Margutta no. 33, and mysterious 13 was the backdrop for Il segno del Comando, the cult television series from the '70s. Director Federico Fellini also lived here and loved to take walks with Giulietta Masina. "… Love, look how beautiful the sky looks over via Margutta tonight…", this is a verse from a song called Via Margutta by Roman singer songwriter Luca Barbarossa…

Let me start off by saying that the hotel and it's staff are excellent. We stayed for 3 nights and everyone was very kind and helpful. It's location is perfect for seeing almost everything you need to see while in Rome. The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain and Villa Borghese are within easy walking distance. The Colosseum and Pantheon are also close by. Across the river, the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Square are a short cab ride away. The shopping is like being on Manhattan's 5th Avenue and the restaurants are fantastic. We also loved the free continental breakfast. The cappuccino was awesome. With that being said, the only fault I found was the parking. All the ads for the hotel says there is free parking nearby. ( That is if you can find a spot which is nearly impossible) We had to park at a garage (Not near the hotel) and it was 22 euro per day!!!

This is a great hotel I loved staying here, ... it is so central, the rooms were spotless and beds so comfy, staff were exceptional... breakfast was great too, ensuite bathroom spotless with everything you need. I was only staying for two nights quick stopover, and first night was just me, and the second night my niece was joining me, and they separated the double bed into singles for her stay without any problems, I will definitely 100% be coming back to this treasure in central Rome... loved it, and thank you Hotel Forte <3

The location is so perfect. The best option for middle age people, ( I would say maybe not very ideal for families with children or very loud young tourists, it is a rather a small hotel) easy walk to every where, nice restaurants are so close and a perfect location for shopping or window shopping. All the famous brands are few steps from you. This hotel is on the second floor and it hss tiny lobby, and the hotel is just few few meters away from the busy street, in a very nice quiet artistic street which smelled like heaven as soon as you walked into it. The room was nice and the sheets were very nice and fresh and crispy just the way I liked it. We walked to all the places which we planed to see since all the street we had to walk through was so pretty to see. So search no more. This is a perfect, safe and comfortable hotel to stay.

The location of this hotel was prime - 1 1/2 block from the Spanish Steps! We had some problems while there caused by me and by the hotel. However, the staff responded immediately. The rooms are super small, as are the bathrooms. Some rooms only have bathtub showers, and those with stand alone showers had no handles in shower and the floors were so slippery, I had to put towels on the floor before I even got in. We had a last minute emergency (toilet button broke) and we had to move ASAP. They had a room for backup, but the A/C never worked very well. Shower wasn't big enough to put elbows out. However, they offer a nice continental/breakfast room. All in all, I was very happy with the staff and the location, but I wouldn't stay there again. Don't stay away on my account - just know what to expect and you'll be fine.

If you look for an (relatively) inexpensive hotel near one of the major attractions of Rome (Piazza di Spagna) then Hotel Forte should be recommended. Simple, unpretentious, allowing you to concentrate on your tourist activities, day and night. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good bathrooms is all you need to survive a few days in Rome if you do not care about luxuries. Most of the touristic attractions of Rome can be reached on foot, and it that's too far, a subway station nearby can help. The area has many simple sidewalk restaurants so you should not be hungry. Two small problems. The reception if on the first floor without any sign indicating where it is. Two, there is no noted water provided by the hotel and if you need any you'd better stock it on your own
