i have been travelling at least annually to Rome for over 25 years. I don't need the services of a large hotel; I look for a room that is clean, has conveniences like TV, internet, air conditioning and is larger than a shoe box. Il Cantico is the best one by far. It is modern, spacious, clean, has friendly staff, an excellent breakfast, a restaurant and is conveniently located near the Vatican and bus/train transport. And more, it is located on a quiet side street so that you don't hear the usual scream of Rome traffic. Plus, the windows in the room have screens! You can open the windows and not worry about mosquitoes -- trust me, this is a rare find in Italy. I see a review that complains about the breakfast. It's Italy: they don't have North American breakfast. Yes, it's the standard scrambled eggs and bacon that are somewhat lukewarm, but that's Italy. The rest of the spread -- pastries, cheese, meat, cereal, fruit -- is way better than most other hotels of this class in Rome. If you expect a posh breakfast, go stay at the 5 star hotels. This breakfast buffet is better than you would get at standard "buffet breakfast included" hotels in North America, like Fairfield Inn etc. This hotel is a real gem at prices that can't be beat. But don't tell anyone or the secret will be out! Thanks for a great stay: I:ll be back.…
I recommend this hotel. I travelled alone for 4 nights and found the hotel to be clean and quiet. The staff were friendly and the breakfast basic but nice. The shower was really good and being able to fill a water bottle provided was much appreciated in this heat. I would definitely visit again. A little far out of all the main tourist attractions but has lots of buses very close by.
Il Cantico provided my wife and me with exactly what we were looking for in Rome -- a comfortable, clean, attractive room in a well located venue with good food and drink at a modest price. Friendly staff, great view of St. Peter's from the roof, an excellent breakfast, and good service all around. Various minor problems caused by aging facilities, but you can't have everything. We recommend the hotel to guests who are not too fussy about this sort of thing.
There are two ladies who work here during the day who are fabulous. They are extremely helpful and kind. The rooms and showers are excellent, the location is also good. This is within walking distance to the vatican, maybe 15 minute walk. It is worth knowing that there is a great breakfast place opposite the hotel called Pappagallo. Also there is a fantastic sandwich place nearby called Bono Bottega Nostrana. The reason I haven't given it 5 stars is due to a few annoyances. The first was the door not locking when I arrived. The room was switched but unfortunately the only available room had a disabled toilet. The second problem was the blinds opening seemingly by themselves around 6am which was a bit strange - this only happened once. Finally the mattress in the new room I was given was uncomfortable and seemed possibly broken, I think the room was 111.…
We stayed here for 2 nights and the service was brilliant. The ladies on reception were very very helpful. The room was tidy and clean. Beds were comfy. Short walk to supermarkets and restaurants. Quiet area.
Very beautiful hotel with very helpful stuff. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. There are in the corridor water cooler and you can fill your bottle. Glass bottle you will find at the room. Very good idea. Breakfast good: omelette, croissant, cheese, yogurt, coffee, water, juice.
Nicely located close to the Vatican, safe area, modern building with car park, very friendly staff, after Covid-19 understaffed and top terrace closed. The breakfast was less than usual I was explained but it was very little so you can skip it for the price. It was not busy so rooms very quite. We slept well. The simple double room is ok in size with a nice balcony. The bathroom is very small and the shower had signs of mold/fungi. I asked the cleaner to remove it but no success. For the price I was disappointed.
Stayed over New Year period. Beds were very uncomfortable, sunk in the middle they were changed but still the same. No room service for food or drink,no tea/coffee in room. Breakfast booked, but finished at 9.30 to early. Staff at reception were not very welcoming. Positives about staying here, near st Peters square and the metro.
We stayed here several nights arriving early after a long flight from the states. They were very accommodating in getting us into a comfortable room so we could relax and unwind after a very long transatlantic trip. Everyone was so helpful from explaining how the cab system worked to how to walk to the Vatican which is a short walk away. They have free parking and a beautiful breakfast buffet included in a very reasonable price. The rooms are somewhat spartan but have all the necessities needed including a very comfortable bed, minibar and lockbox. Our room even had a small private patio that looked out over a park.
