I suspected that the choice was going to be perfect for our group of 5 and it was! A few days before we arrived Marco emailed to inquire about our transportation from the airport to Vecchia Roma Resort. Because we were 5, he suggested it would be more economical for him to arrange a larger vehicle. We arrived, the driver... More

We spent 4 nights with Marco and highly recommend Vecchio Roma Resort. Our room was very comfortable for 3 people. Marco provided delicious breakfasts each day, and more importantly, great advice. He educated us on the bus system, recommended great places to eat and shop, and booked airport transfers for us. We took many of his recommendations and all worked... More

Marco's resort is a wonderful place to stay in Rome. Before our stay, he was very responsive, and provided us with clear and easy-to-follow directions to his place from where we arrived. Throughout the stay, Marco was very helpful and friendly. The location is great, very close to the Colosseum (about 15 mins walking at most), and we were able... More

Atinart Thanks for your review! I firmly believe that the vacancy is to be an unforgettable moment for each of us (Also because it is always too short !!). I am very pleased that the places that I have shown you, have been appreciated by you. I always try to "test" all the places that I recommend, personally. This just... More

If you want to see Rome, make every attempt to stay at the Vecchia Roma Resort. Approximately a 5-minute walk from the Circo Massimo metro stop and a 7- to 10-minute walk from the Collesum/Roman Forum/Pallentine Hills, the resort is conveniently located for visiting all the major sights of ancient Rome (the catacombs are a quick bus ride south). I cannot recommend this B&B enough! Staying here is what made our trip to Rome truly memorable. Vecchia Roma Resort is located about 5-10 minutes away from the Colosseum and in a quiet and safe neighborhood that feels very separated from the bustle of Rome. We were greeted by Marco who immediately welcomed us, showed us our room, and then... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Vecchia Roma Resort" is found in the Aventino district. This antique area of Rome is very unique because it is situated in the historic center of the city, while maintaining a relaxed yet evocative atmosphere. Just behind "Vecchia Roma Resort" begins the road, Viale Aventino, which joins both the Cestia Pyramid and the Circus Maximus. We are found in a historic oasis of greenery perched on the antique Roman hill. The characteristic of this district is precisely: to be in the center of the Roman history without suffering from today's chaotic city traffic. Those who have never been to Rome will have the possibility to know the oldest part of the city; with just a five minute walk you can find yourself in front of the Circus Maximus, between the Palatine Hill and the Baths of Caracalla. Those who have already had the good fortune of visiting our city can deepen their knowledge while acquiring a new, fascinating point of view, living for a few days in a district situated on one of the seven hills of Rome. From "Vecchia Roma Resort" Testaccio, the Colosseum, Trastevere, Appia Antica, the Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia are all easily accessible on foot. As well, one can admire the beauty of the Aventino district with its famous Basilicas and the Parco degli Aranci (Park of the Oranges). And don't forget: In only 10 minutes you can reach the Mouth of Truth (Bocca della Verita) and discover its secrets. With its welcoming atmosphere, "Vecchia Roma Resort" is able to satisfy the most diverse needs, from a relaxing vacation to a business or school trip. ... more   less
