This hotel is perfectly situated roughly 10 minutes walk from the main train terminal in Rome as well as being within walking distance of all of the main attractions Colosseum, Pantheon etc. It is very modern with all of the mod cons, it also has an interesting shower room with mood lighting which is great. The room we had was... More

We have stayed in several hotels in Rome over the years and would rate this one the best overall. We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed all aspects of our stay from the friendly and efficient reception staff to the clean and modern furnishings throughout. Our double room was compact but there was sufficient space and the small balcony meant... More

Demetra hotel is a very warm welcome hotel!, the staff are very nice and friendly, i think they speak good English, i cant really judge there language, as i can speak a little Italian, there room service is fantastic. and again the hotel is very central. you can access the terminal for a 5 min walk, and access all attractions... Stayed in a twin share room, it was a small room but with modern and clean facilities. Breakfast was nice but staff seemed to struggle with understanding English - didn't get the coffee I had ordered, got an espresso instead. Central location to all the main tourist landmarks with the Termini close by and also the double decker City Sightseeing... More

- Good location - near the main train station which is also on both metro lines. We walked most places so found it to be a touch out of the way but the few occasions that we used the metro it was really convenient. We left Rome by plane and found the airport train "Leonardo Express" which left from the... More

What was good was: reception, location and the bathroom (clean and OK design). What should be improved as a 4 star hotel is: the breakfast, the beds (slept with old carpets), and in general "the hotel feeling". Also the iron and the iron board was ridiculous. It felt more like renovated apartments, and two or three stars.

Lovely hotel right by termini and Republica metro stations, stayed in a small room but was perfect for 3 nights. Staff were very helpful, booked taxis for us & pointed out good restaurants nearby. Good breakfast selection, something for everyone. Only problem was no mirror in the bedroom which was awkward to do hair and makeup, only mirror was in... More

I loved this hotel! It's very modern and the staff are so friendly and speak very good English! It's in a great location, right by the main train station and about a 15-20 minutes walk to the colosseum! The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are really comfy! We where a little bit apprehensive going to Rome and not... More

This hotel does not have friendly staff. Not helpful or nice. The rooms have no luggage holder. No bars of soap for bathroom! The hotel is not very easy to find and once in hotel there is not a typical reception area. You have to read a sign, which is confusing that notes reception on street level yet it turns... More

In spite of reading negative reports of this hotel we went ahead with it for 3 nights in Rome mid September, though we did check with the hotel beforehand that we would in fact have the room in that hotel as booked. Our only gripe with the experience was the room. Actually large by Rome standards and also the bathroom.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
