The Beehive is kind of what you want to make it, it has dorm rooms for the cheaper traveller, rooms with shared bathrooms for mid range and rooms with private bathrooms for the full Hotel experience, as there were three of us, my partner, daughter and myself, we went for the latter. The Beehive offers variations on the room asking... More

I stayed here for 2 nights at the start of my trip and one night at the end. I stayed here 4 years ago when visiting Italy so there was no doubt I would come back and stay again. I stayed in the Suites in a single room with ensuite. The bathroom was modern and the room had good airconditioning.... More

The Beehive website provided us with great information prior to our stay. We appreciate the variety of topics that were covered and it helped prepare us for our trip to Italy. We liked the location, so close to the train station and other transportation. The staff was very patient, kind, and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. It was... More

We stayed here three nights. It is in a good location. Very close to Roma Termini station. We stayed in a double room, which was neat and tidy and the bed was comfortable! Our bed was made each day and rubbish emptied. We had the use of shared bathroom facilities these were clean and tidy however the bath mats were... More

Dear ambowden, Thanks for your review and I'm glad that for the most part you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry if you had connectivity issues with the wifi, but I couldn't find any record that you mentioned anything to our receptionist. Perhaps it just needed to be reset or perhaps there were too many people on it trying to Skype... More

My husband and I stayed at the Beehive and at first my husband was a bit concerned because of the word "hostel". Upon our arrival we were both pleasantly surprised. Francesca at the front desk was very kind and helpful and helped us get situated with the property and our room. We stayed in the Sweets. Our room was great!... More

Hi Elana Q, I had to smile when you mentioned your husband was concerned about staying at a hostel. For the past 17 years, we've worked hard to show people that not all hostels are created equally. I'm very glad to hear you and your husband enjoyed your stay and were pleasantly surprised. If you ever need some suggestions of... More

Me and my friend (both 18), stayed in Rome for a week at The Beehive 'Sweets' and absolutely loved it! Our room consisted of basic décor and furniture with an en-suite and was tidied and cleaned everyday. We were also able to use a shared kitchen/dining/balcony area which was perfect to relax in after a long day of sight-seeing. The... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Beehive but in one of their off property hotels - Hotel Dell'Urbe because the rooms in the hostel were full. It was an easy 5 minute walk from the hostel. The biggest pros were - the friendly and helpful staff and the convenience of the location. The Beehive app is amazing and each... More

This place would have been perfect if it had air conditioning in the rooms, it was so unbearably hot I couldn't sleep and there was no where to escape the heat during the day either Bathrooms were basic but has the essentials, wifi is good and has a decent breakfast cafe downstairs Really close to the station that takes you... Hi Zoe R, I wanted to respond to review to let any potential guests know that we do have areas and rooms with air-conditioning. Our lounge & cafe area have air-conditioning. Our dorm room and our Classic rooms have ceiling fans, and our Sweets and Hotel Urbe rooms have air-conditioning. We do make this clear in our room descriptions so... More

We stayed in the Clover offsite apartment. A lovely welcome by the receptionist, with free (homegrown!!!) figs and water, as well as a detailed map with added guidance. The apartment itself was just a 5 minute walk from the main reception on the other side of the Termini station. The cleanliness was supreme as were the facilities, which the pictures... More

We stayed in a family room (double bed and bunks) at The Beehive. We had breakfast there each morning, which was excellent. Friendly advice always available at reception on places to eat and visit. Fantastic access to Rome's main train station. Easy access to laundry facilities up the street. Friendly, quiet, good Wifi. We enjoyed our stay, and wished we... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beehive is a cool, stylish, eco-friendly budget hostel/hotel owned by an American couple, Linda & Steve, who came to Rome to follow a dream. In 1999 we packed up our apartment in Los Angeles and, along with our 2 cats moved to Rome and opened The Beehive, a unique cross between a budget hotel and an upscale hostel - a place where you can feel at home. Everything about The Beehive reflects our own personal values and we genuinely want to be helpful and hospitable. We love to share the kind of information that helps you get the most out of your travels. Over the years The Beehive has evolved along with us and our many repeat guests. With our amazing onsite staff and manager, all of our guests receive our dedication and effort to helping you get the best out of your holiday.
