Had a very pleasant stay in this nice hotel in the bustling Trastevere section. Despite the nighttime livelihood of the neighborhood, the hotel is tucked into a quiet niche. The room was comfortable (although I really wanted to like the bed a bit more than I actually did.) The breakfast each day was perfect, and the breakfast staff especially warm...

Loved the location of this hotel in Trastavere, lots of good restaurants close by. We walked from there to many major sights. Loved the rooms, the outdoor lounging area, the friendly service. Wifi is slow, but available.

Rome is obviously a great city to visit, but where to stay? At the end of a days sightseeing we enjoy retreating to Trastevere which is a lively area and full of great family owned restaurants and bars. Right next to the main square, down a side street, is the gated Hotel Santa Maria which was a convent. The cloisters...

Friendly, welcoming service at reception, breakfast and bar. The buffet breakfast set us up well for a long walking day, and the rooms were just perfect for our small family. We loved sitting out under the mandarin trees in the morning, and loved the mandarin marmalade made from their fruit. A sweet refuge in the busyness of Rome.

If you would like to be in the centre of trastevere where there are numerous restaurants this would be an ideal location. The rooms are not large but...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
