Clean hotel a short walk from the colosseum. If you have any luggage or disabilities I recommend you take a taxi there from the termini train station. It is a fairly long walk with many hills and narrow uneven streets. Our room was very clean and very small. We also had a private terrace, which was small but nice to...

The best thing about this hotel is the location, street away you can see Colosseum and only few minutes away from Trevi Fountain. Second best thing is staff, very friendly. always smiling. There was one person who was great with us and extremely helpful but unfortunately I don't remember the name (a man - I think not Italian, he had...

The hotel, which is housed in a 1700 building, is located in an old neighborhood that offers the visitors narrow streets paved with cobble stones, cute shops and good restaurants. All, within walking distance from the Coliseum (about 10 minutes), the Roman Forum and other monuments of the antique Rome. We were very impressed by the quality of the staff,...

For 100 euros a night in Rome, you can't beat Hotel Grifo. A 5-minute walk from the Colosseum (and a number of terrific restaurants and cafes), tucked away in picturesque Via del Boschetto, it's a perfect, inexpensive hideaway in Rome's historic center. It's not a luxury hotel, the rooms are a bit on the small side, but they are spotlessly...

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is situated at a prime location in Rome close to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The staff was nice, friendly and service minded. The room however was very small and dated. The sheets were not that clean either. The bathroom was tiny and our toilet had some issues with flushing. We had...

Yes, the rooms are small. We were lucky and had a terrace where we could eat our own food. Knife and fork brought up by a very service minded staff. Its situated perfect if you are here to see Rome and the staff very helpful with good advises for local food etc. Is it a romantic weekend you are looking...

It’s been a pleasure to host you in our hotel and thank you for emphasizing our strengths! The hotel is a monument, an ancient building, this is the reason why rooms are small though comfortable. It is near the most important monuments: the most famous places in Rome are reachable walking. Our staff makes every effort to ensure cleanliness and...

We just had a wonderful week-long stay at Hotel Grifo. Everything was perfect. Courteous staff who spoke excellent English, nice included breakfast, quiet rooms, great location in a neighborhood with good restaurants and convenient to everything. We would totally go back.

I did my homework before booking a hotel in Rome, and decided we wanted to stay in Monti--an eclectic, slightly bohemian area. Good access to the Colosseum and other ancient sites, good local restaurants and access to transporttion. The Hotel Grifo did great. I had asked about an elevator because my husband doesn't do stairs well, but they didn't quite...

Its hard to tell from the pictures but the economy rooms were terribly small for two people. Its in a great location around a lot of restaurants, very busy at night and very close to the Colosseum. Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
