A Priest friend told us about this old, quaint, 20 room hotel. The hotel is 3 blocks from the Vatican and St Peter's. Caesar, the hotel manager/concierge, gave us minute details (and maps) for every site we cared to see, and more. He explained the best travel method and what we might see between the more popular sights. Friendly staff...

Nicely renovated, well maintained small hotel with great location walking distance from Vatican. Rooms are good size, staff (generally except night guy) very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Reasonable rats.

I spent almost a week on business in Rome and needed a hotel near the Vatican. For a relatively reasonable price you can get a two or three bedroom unit, plus kitchen and living room. The Santa Anna is a 3 star hotel, so you would be trading off luxury for space, but takeout places close are good. And unlike...

Visited the hotel in 2001 and stayed again recently. Perfect location, around the corner from the Vatican and very accessible. The cafes and restaurants on the same street a great and it is a very safe area. The breakfast buffet is good and fills the need to start your day. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Most important the...

Second visit to Hotel Santa Anna although a very short one (needed an overnight for a flight layover). Room was wonderful, staff most friendly and helpful (as was our experience the first visit). Arranged an early car to the airport for us, friendly personal wakeup call, and made this stop of a hectic travel weekend a pleasurable, restful break. Will...

Perfectly situated down a street with plenty of charming restaurants that manages to keep quiet to ensure a peaceful rest. Our room was standard and fell nothing short of very clean and nice. The breakfast was nice too. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
