The best thing about this hotel was the location, just in back of the Pantheon, in a quaint neighborhood full of enticing restaurants and gelaterias. It was easy walking distance to most of the major attractions in Rome, including the Vatican, Colosseum/Forum, Spanish steps & Trevi fountain areas, as well as Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori. The room itself...

We are in our mid-sixties. We were given a room on the 4th floor with no tub and only a shower. The elevator was broken for 3 of the 4 days we were at the hotel, requiring us to go up and down stairs several times a day as we came and went from our hotel into the city. Since...

We stayed here for three nights with our two adult sons in a quad room. While the location was great and the quad room we stayed in was very spacious and updated, I agree with other reviewers that the staff is arrogant. The one bright spot was Frederica who was very helpful with general questions. Internet is expensive and they...

We will definitely stay here again! My husband and I spent 4 nights in Albergo Santa Chiara and couldn't ask for a better location. Located directly adjacent to the Pantheon it was always easy to find when we came back after a long day of touring Rome. There are public busses 1 block away, a taxi stand 1/2 a block...

My room was smaller than my home closet. Ideal location. Among the rudest, most uncaring staff i have ever encountered in 66 countries. Stayed 5 nights, was spoken to once. Will go back to Rome--will not stay there.

We just got back and the hotel was everything we expected. Convenient to everything in the tourist zone was the main reason for staying but we also wanted the ambiance of a amily run quality hotel. Breakfast was ok but not exceptional. Room had crisp ironed linens and the bed was just a tad hard. Staff helped us on a...

I stayed here as a solo traveler in 2003. The hotel is small, intimate and clean. It's location right behind the Pantheon is perfect for those who want to be near the main tourist attractions.

The location of this hotel cannot be beat! We had a suite with a lovely balcony! The furnishings in the room could stand to be updated a bit, but we found the accommodations very nice anyway. We stayed on the top floor, so there is slanted ceiling in the bathroom, which has a very narrow tub with a shower head...

I went to Rome with my mother and brother and really enjoyed staying at the Santa Chiara. The location was perfect for sight seeing and the staff was helpful. We had one of the larger suite/apartments with an outside belconey which was great. The breakfast had lots of variety especially by european standards. I would definitely stay there again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Who we are The history of the Albergo Santa Chiara begins in 1939. At the first it was a "wine-shop" then changed into a small inn, enlarged in the following years, the 10 rooms of the first days have become now 96, distributed in 3 adjoining buildings. In one of them is located the Saint Catherine from Siena's Chapel. The old lobby, on the contrary, has become a theatre. You can't miss a short chat at one of the table of our open-air bar, quiet and private, that overlooks the Minerva Square. The most affectionate guests love the wide and classic styled rooms, younger prefers the modern and high-tech ones. The hotel service is impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. You will find this is a friendly, relaxed hotel that will make you feel right at home. The hotel has been in the same family ownership for nearly a century. The ground floor hall has seen the proclamation of the Popular Party by Don Sturzo, the rooms have counted the steps of Noble prizes such as Amartya Sen, Franco Modigliani and clergy men later be became Popes, politicians then elected Republican President, philosophers, artists, writers from Fogazzaro to Sartre to Banana Yoshimoto. ... more   less
