My husband and 3 children under 10 stayed for 4 nights in July. What a great, clean practical hotel in a central and safe location. We walked to all the main attractions aside from the Vatican (which was only a short and under 10 Euros trip away organised by the hotel). The weather was extremely hot but the hotel and...

The location was perfect for great restaurants and shopping in little boutiques. It was walking distance to many major tourist attractions, yet is on a quiet side street just behind the Pantheon. We loved this nontraditional hotel -- it had the comforts and conveniences we wanted as American business travelers, with clean, modern decor and amenities. Small and comfortable. The...

My family of five recently stayed at the Albergo Santa Chiara which we chose for it's location. The room was fine, but the shower was so small - approximately 2' x 2', that when I dropped the soap, I had to squat to pick it up, because I could not bend over. The staff never greeted us when we entered...

This hotel had great location to many key sights and shopping. Great nearby restaurants, too. The room was comfortable for our family. Kids had twin in connecting room. Only one bathroom, which made the 2-shower-a-day routine challenging (but doable) Air conditioning was adequate - remember you are in Europe. Their breakfast had the most options out of the 3 Italian...

Albergo Santa Chiara is a nice hotel, located in a fabulous location. We walked everywhere in Rome, including the Vatican. Because it is nestled in a quiet location, we were able to get some much-needed rest after our long days of exploring and sight-seeing. Nice room, very nice large bathroom, and good breakfast make this place a true gem in...

Transportation networks in Rome are not as good as in other european capitals. Therefore, it is important to stay in the center of the old city. This hotel is idealy situated right behind the Pantheon and in easy walking distance of most of the important sights in the city. This is a clean, no nonsense, practical hotel with reasonable prices...

Honestly we couldn't have imagined of a better location to stay in Rome. Via Vittorio Emmanuelle, Via Del Corso, Parliament, Vatican City, Trastevere, Colleseum, Palantine, all walkable. You step out, turn left and you're at the Temple of Minerva where Gallileo was forced to say the world was flat in the 17th century, another 1 minute you're at the 2000-year...

This hotel is 1 block from the Pantheon, 20 minutes from Trevi Fountain, 20 minutes from Spanish Steps, and about 25 minutes from Vatican. We walked nearly everywhere from here! Interesting room with vaulted and beamed ceiling. Our room for 4 was a 2-room suite with a curtain between us. Very small shower. Front staff was very helpful advising us...

This is a quiet, clean, and comfortable hotel which is located just behind the Pantheon and centrally positioned to allow you to easily walk to the Colosseum and ancent Rome as well as to Vatican City. Rooms are more than adequate and bathrooms are, by European standards, quite nice. Highly recommend it.

This hotel was in the best location for a Rome Experience, but that is it. The service as horrible, the front desk personnel were not nice at all. Italians need to learn from the Americans about service quality. No one smiled, nor was anyone willing to help. The manager was rude. It had nothing to do with the language barrier....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Who we are The history of the Albergo Santa Chiara begins in 1939. At the first it was a "wine-shop" then changed into a small inn, enlarged in the following years, the 10 rooms of the first days have become now 96, distributed in 3 adjoining buildings. In one of them is located the Saint Catherine from Siena's Chapel. The old lobby, on the contrary, has become a theatre. You can't miss a short chat at one of the table of our open-air bar, quiet and private, that overlooks the Minerva Square. The most affectionate guests love the wide and classic styled rooms, younger prefers the modern and high-tech ones. The hotel service is impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. You will find this is a friendly, relaxed hotel that will make you feel right at home. The hotel has been in the same family ownership for nearly a century. The ground floor hall has seen the proclamation of the Popular Party by Don Sturzo, the rooms have counted the steps of Noble prizes such as Amartya Sen, Franco Modigliani and clergy men later be became Popes, politicians then elected Republican President, philosophers, artists, writers from Fogazzaro to Sartre to Banana Yoshimoto. ... more   less
