I stayed here for 9 days over christmas and new year's and had a wonderful stay. The hotel itself is nice--not super fancy but very nice. Nice entry seating area with a bar, and an outdoor patio with tables/umbrellas for smoking/having a drink outside--surrounded by nice plants to make a little barrier so you can't really see through the roots/vines...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your great review. We are very happy to hear that you have enjoyed your stay in our facility and you have appreciated our location above all. We remind you that the room you have stayed, in was a Single Superior/Double room for single use full bed, so not a Double Superior. It is very important...

My wife and I, together with several family members and friends, recently stayed at the Albergo Santa Chiara for our daughter's wedding in Rome. It is very conveniently located being adjacent to the Piazza della Minerva, literally a stone's throw from the Pantheon and five minutes from the Piazza Navona. The staff is pleasant and accommodating, especially Federica, one of...

My son and I stayed for three nights beginning 14 December. We arrived late afternoon on the 14th and were welcomed at reception by the bellman and front desk staff. The location is as close to perfect as one can get. The room, although small, was decorated tastefully and was very clean. We had only a small shower, but plenty...

This hotel was recommended to me by a Rome regular, and it is ideal. Took a car from airport which hotel arranged (takes all the guesswork out of transport decisions which seemed a bit nightmarish, and when you add it all up for 2, worth it). Hotel also recommended the coliseum/forum tour given by coliseum PhDs -- yes! It will...

The Santa Chiara is a fabulous hotel with so much going for it. Firstly, the location is perfect. We have stayed in Rome before and this is definitely the best location - walking distance to nearly all the major sites and plus the area itself at the Pantheon is lively and interesting, and it also has a very safe feel....

This was our 3rd trip to Rome and by far and away the best hotel. Right in the heart of Rome, it is steps from the Pantheon, my husband's favorite building. The breakfast was superb. The public spaces large but warm and inviting. We visited in November and the room rate was fantastic. Service impeccable. We asked for various types...

I spent 5 nights at this charming hotel as part of a tour group. I arrived from the US before 8am and they had a room ready for me. The room was, I believe, a "single superior". The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom exceptionally clean. The shower was a bit small, but sufficient. There was no view from...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Who we are The history of the Albergo Santa Chiara begins in 1939. At the first it was a "wine-shop" then changed into a small inn, enlarged in the following years, the 10 rooms of the first days have become now 96, distributed in 3 adjoining buildings. In one of them is located the Saint Catherine from Siena's Chapel. The old lobby, on the contrary, has become a theatre. You can't miss a short chat at one of the table of our open-air bar, quiet and private, that overlooks the Minerva Square. The most affectionate guests love the wide and classic styled rooms, younger prefers the modern and high-tech ones. The hotel service is impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. You will find this is a friendly, relaxed hotel that will make you feel right at home. The hotel has been in the same family ownership for nearly a century. The ground floor hall has seen the proclamation of the Popular Party by Don Sturzo, the rooms have counted the steps of Noble prizes such as Amartya Sen, Franco Modigliani and clergy men later be became Popes, politicians then elected Republican President, philosophers, artists, writers from Fogazzaro to Sartre to Banana Yoshimoto. ... more   less
