My husband and I stayed here weekend of 24-27 march. In fact we are still here but am so frustrated we needed to write a review. The room is horrid, so old and tired. The bathroom is horrid, limescale everywhere, leaking bath and stone cold shower. In addition the TV has zero channels in English even though the welcome guide...

Location brilliant easy walking distance to all main attractions, Friendly and helpful staff and really enjoyed the breakfasts, especially the bresola but there was a lack of variation and the scrambled eggs were the worst I've ever tasted. It was disappointing that the refurbishment was taking place on the top floor, one of the reasons for choosing this hotel was...

Shower didn't work, hairdryer kept cutting out, air con was turned off for the entire time we were there. How this place advertises itself as a 5 star is a mystery. It is 4 star at very best. One good thing - the location was pretty good

A great hotel but the suites are not great for children. I booked it thinking we would have extra space and they even upgraded is to the larger two bathroom suite but the space is awkward and our daughter ended up sleeping in our bed. The blow dryer in room is not great but the desk does have a better...

The poor choice of breakfast buffet, especially the vegetables : Mixed leaf salad and cherry tomatoes. When a heavy truck runs the via Nazionale, a busy traffic road just in front of the hotel, the whole building shakes as if an earthquake hits the hotel. Wow, it's OK? The concierge told me a good restaurant but the dinner became a...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Entwined in an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere in the heart of Rome, la Griffe Hotel is more than just traditional hospitality. The hotel is on Via Nazionale, between Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Venetia, near the famous fountains of Tritone and Trevi, forming the triangle of Rome’s shopping with Via del Corso and Piazza di Spagna. Ideally positioned to discover the many sights and faces of the Eternal City, with excellent connections to public transport, busses to Vatican City, the Metro (Underground) at 150 m. and near Termini Station. The modern style of interior design is in sweet contrast with the 19th century building and it’s historic location fits it like a frame. The architectural concept is a perfect blend of classic and modern, where luxury and contemporary art surround you in total comfort. ... more   less
